Jan 2, 2014I just purchased my first laptop and my first wireless router and have been setting them up.
Laptop: HP touchscreen Pavilion 15 notebook 15-n088ca with windows 8.1 (fully updated)
Router: D-Link Dual Band AC1000 2.5GHz & 5GHz bands DIR-810L
I set up the router and worked out the kinks and updated the software. My laptop finds and connects with the 2.5GHz Band anywhere in the house. My laptop does not even find or see the 5GHz Band. However my Galaxy Tablet finds both bands and can connect with both, thought the 5GHz seems weaker.
I noticed that my Galaxy Tablet finds a lot more wi fi networks than my laptop (that are in houses around the street). I believe my laptop should find the 5Ghz Band and be able to connect. So I'm hoping this is a software or driver issue, and just a setting that needs to be adjusted. I don't know much about Wi Fi drivers, but I"m a Vista survivor, so I should be able to solve this.
I don't even know what program runs the WiFi software on my laptop? Or where to find it?

Nov 13, 2014I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6154tx laptop. My current version of BIOS installed is Hewlett-Packard F.1B, 05/10/11.I wanted to check if my BIOS is up to date, and if there was a newer version of BIOS available.
So I went to the HP Support page for laptops (URL...) and chose Pavilion Notebooks > Models dv4000 to dv6999 > dv6000 Entertainment Notebook PC series > Matching products outside the United States.
But alas, I could not find my laptop's model listed there. There's dv6150tx and then it jumps to dv6161ea, but no dv6154tx. Is there any other way I can update my laptop's BIOS?

Aug 30, 2014I recently reinstalled windows 7 (64 bit) on my pavilion dv6-6135dx.Problem is the system can't find drivers for the PCI device, SM Bus Controller, and two USB controllers. The yellow exclamation sign shows up next to them in device manager.Out of the 4 USB ports I have, only the two on the right side work.

Aug 12, 2012i installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my HP Pavilion G6-2005ax after formatting. I downloaded and installed all of my drivers from here . But 'Ralink 2011 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter ' and 'Ralink 802.11 b/g/n Wireless LAN Adapter Driver ' fails to install. There is yellow symbol on 'Network controllers' in Device manager. I could successfully install the Bluetooth driver but i cant search any device, neither it gets discovered.

Feb 24, 2013My ageing XPS M1710 seems to be having an issue since upgrading it to Windows 8. With Windows 8, it's runs lovely, a lot quicker than other OS's, but recently the graphics card seems to be having problems.
I was unable to find a Win 8 driver for the 7950 GTX so I'm using the Nvidia 179.48 Win 7 64bit driver, in order to get the full 1920 resolution. However I seem to keep getting a problem where I get zig zag lines across the screen, sometimes blacks out and comes back with a warning that the Nvidia Vista driver stopped work and recovered.I've read various posts talking about adjusting power save options, underclocking and heat. Also noticed a post that it's more common on 64bit systems than 32 so I'm tempted to rebuild it with 32bit media rather than the 64 I could only get my hands on at the time.
Acer :: 6920G WLAN Can Find Networks But Unable To Connect
Nov 7, 2008WLAN is shown in device manager as functional, it even can find networks in range and everything. But when I want to connect to a network it gets to a point when it asks me for the username and pass, and stops there. The error sometimes says that it can't identify the server or that i should just try to reconnect. I tried connecting to various networks, and I can't even make it tell me that my pass is wrong... It seems that it isn't able to communicate with the server. It passes Intel wlan tests until the 'association' test.
Rainstalling the drivers and/or the windows didn't help, should I send it for RMA?
