View 9 RepliesI have had my Pavilion dv8 for a few months now. A month or two after I received it, I began experiencing problems with the slider treble/bass control. It would sporadically pop up and start changing the treble or bass at random intervals. It also randomly disconnected me from my wireless connection. I thought this might just have something to do with the slider being dirty, but after several attempts of cleaning it, it still remains a problem. At first it was just a little annoying, fixed by clicking the mouse or pressing the top internet button, but now it's REALLY annoying, even popping up as I write this post. Is "slider thing" the right term?
View 9 Replies View Relatedhow to get there? Also, what would you recommend setting it at?
I have the HDX18t if that makes a difference.
i just bought hp dv8t quad laptop recently. the first time i turned on, treble bar (blue horizontal bar to adust treble that is supposed to appear only when i touch that touch tone above keyboard) came up on middle of screen intermittently. everytime i run other application, this bar would come up and stops other application. i spent over 1 hr with hp tech to fix it. now everytime i turn on, this blue bar still comes up but after i adjust treble via tone control above keyboard, it disappears. tech says there is no hardware defect, but i am wondering if others are like this.

I have the system listed in my signature running Windows 7 Ultimate and I am having the worst time with pops and crackles sporadically throughout songs during playback. I originally thought it might have been iTunes so I have tried a few other programs with the same results. It almost seems as though it cracks every time my computer has to "think".
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe issue is most noticeable when I'm listening to my music, in any program. It gets unbearable at times. However, when I stream videos or watch DVDs, the issues seems much less prevalent. Actually, there will be times where I really can't notice the issue at all while streaming video or watching DVDs. Then again, sometimes the issue just goes away entirely. But it has always come back. Basically, it's very inconsistent, but it's a problem.
The sound is a very distinct popping noise, which sometimes occurs in sets of around 3-6 right in a row, or it can sometimes be very sporadic. Also, my audio sometimes tends to "skip," usually when click on buttons, open programs, view certain web pages, or move my mouse over certain things. It's unpredictable.
I'm pretty stumped as to what could be causing it. The annoying part is that I had this issue when I first got my laptop several months ago. However, I managed to fix it. I think by disabling the IDT power management settings. But, my hard drive died on me, so I got a replacement from HP. Ever since the replacement, the problem has been back.
Could it be related to the new hard drive?
Just picked this up. Let me know if I got a good deal. I wanted to buy a Dell, but didn't want to spend over $1500 for the Studio 16 XPS.
Dell was offering the Studio with Core2 Duo and did not offer a sale on the i7 version. Hope I dont miss out on the LED LCD screen.

When I restart my computer, my sound works for an hour or two and then suddenly shuts off. It does this with or without headphones. It works again as soon as I restart the computer, but I'd really love not to have to restart my computer every hour just to get the sound to work.
Also- downloading Windows 8 isn't an option as a lot of my work is incompatible with windows 8.

I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..Â
