HP Pavilion G6-2320er OS/Software :: Laptop Shuts Down Due To Incorrect Operation Of Fan
Oct 15, 2014
How to solve the problem with a laptop. I have HP Pavilion g6-2320er (A6) and on it the operating system Windows 8. For a year this laptop works well (from date of purchase passed just over a year). Warranty expired in August 2014. (At the moment the guarantee is not performed). The problem is that the laptop began to overheat. It just shuts down. I began to raise it to ventilation air passes better.
But now it began to frequently shut down and even after the easy way out, when turned on, gives me a strange message: "The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly ... Continued operation is not recommended and may cause unpredictable behavior that could result in random shutdown possible system damage. The system will shutdown in 15 seconds. To prevent shutdown and continue operation ... "Of course, I understand the general meaning. But what is the reason for such work "fan" and what to do to more of this happening?

I am having HP Pavilion DV6 6140Tx . Installed Windows 8 Enterprise Edition and updated drivers using drivers for Windows 7 64x from HP site
The problem is that, when i shutdown my laptop, it doesnt shutsdown, it turns off the screen, but not the processor, fan, touchpad, the light and fan movement is ON and it never shuts down. Then I have forcibly press n hold the Power button to shut it down !
It also has a delayed Startup issue! But Restart function just works fine..!
I don't graphics drivers installed on the system - its AMD ATI RADEON 6700M HD - no compatible drivers available !

If you are one of those customers whose Vaio F series Fan is on most of the times even if are just browsing , please do post here. It would also be useful if you figure out any specific usage pattern that might turn it off/on.
I would like to know if this issue is common to the entire F series or some defective model .

I have an Aspire 1694wlmi with a 2GHz Pentium M, a Mobility Radeon x700 (256mb) and 1GB of ram. I run Win XP with SP3. I didn't do anything to the comp apart from removing its crappy built-in wlan adapter.
The issue is this: whenever I play any game (even as undemanding as UT99) the laptop just shuts down without warning. This even happens playing 8ballclub's billiards sim in window mode for instance.
The whole thing started happening occasionally a long time ago (with Rome Total War at first). Right now, it happens always and very very soon after starting the game (i.e. less than a minute).
I have noticed that the CPU usage jumps to 100% as soon as I launch the game and stays there until shutdown (but this is supposed to be normal, yes?). Also, I tried stopping all non-essential processes (of which there weren't that many to begin with) and the CPU usage is around 0-4% when idle.
I have also opened the lid and look for dust - none there (neither around the processor nor around the graphics adapter)
I tried updating the ATI drivers, but since the Radeon is included in all Acers, it won't let you update the drivers - and Acer doesn't provide updates either. I have installed the Catalyst Control Center...
People have associated such problems with viruses. I use Avast which finds no viruses (I'm installing Kaspersky next).

I updated the bios which fixed other issues. I updated the drivers and did all the win7 updates to rule any of that out. When teh laptop gets down to 18% it just powers off instantly. It does not go through a normal shutdown process or hibernate. I can power it back on and it shows 18% battery left. Is the battery going bad? I dont think this machine is barely a year old yet. I have no problems on wall power. Could it be a Win7 power setting? Just surprised win7 would slam the power off like that.

So recently my laptop started randomly shutting off while I was gaming, I assumed it was the graphics card so I tried to use the intel hd graphics and disable the amd hd graphics to see if that would solve the issue, however it still happened. One thing I noticed is that now when I disable that graphics card the resolution is odd and the letters won't be as clear, I'm guessing this means it may be a motherboard issue.I moved on to thinking it was overheating due a fan problem, I bought a new thermal module for it and the same thing still happens.
I did the reset procedure (removed the battery and ac, pressed the power button for 60secs) and it still happened. I tried with a new battery and charger, same still happens.Lately it doesn't happen just while gaming, it will randomly shut down and once it does, sometimes it will shut down again and again before it even boots up, after a while it may boot up or may shut down again. It's really random and I cannot find a pattern....

My XPS L501X laptop shuts off completely and without warning. What happens is the cursor freezes. The computer does not respond to anything. After about 15 to 60 seconds, the screen goes black and it completely powers down in an instant. It does not restart on its own.
After it shuts down I can re-boot, but sometimes is shuts off during re-boot. Other times it runs for 5 minutes or so. Usually it acts this way for a day or two, then it's "OK" for a week or so before it starts acting up again.
I have run Dell diagnostics and found no problems. I have taken it to the local computer shop. They ran diagnostics and found nothing wrong and were not able to get it to shut down. Yet when I brought it home, it shut down on me within the first hour of use. It seems to run longer in safe mode, but I did have it shut off unexpectedly today while it was in safe mode.
I suspected there might be a problem with my video card as it seemed to be worse when I had an external monitor hooked up to it. Then I ran it for several weeks without the external monitor and it seemed to be OK. Until today when it started shutting down again with no external monitor attached.
This has been an excellent computer until this started happening about 6 months ago. I"m on the verge of giving up and buying a desktop (another laptop like this one is just too expensive). My laptop is out of warranty.

However, a problem appeared recently: the laptop seems to overheat and it shuts down automatically when the temperature rises a lot. I installed SpeedFan to check it and see whether it is abnormally high. Sometimes it reaches about 80-90 degrees on the 4 cores and the hard disk. Slightly before it started shutting down, the fan became very loud and it switches on and off continuously. So I don't know where the problem started.

about the last week now whenever I play games such as WOW and Far Cry 3 It will start off fine and about a minute - 2 minutes later the game will start to slow down right to less than 1 frame a second I also get keyboard and mouse latency when this happens, and when that starts happening my computer will unexpectedly shutdown.I have the latest driver for my GPU, My computer doesn't feel hot at all when this happens which makes me think it might not be an overheating issue and it only happens when playing games, I can do video editing and rendering just fine along with all the basic computer uses such as file transfer, watching videos, listening to music and browsing without any problem. I pulled my Laptop apart thinking it might just be dust build-up and their was a fair bit of dust clogging up the air vent along the side of my laptop, I cleaned that all out and the air started flowing better from the vent. Thinking that was the problem I turned my laptop back on and it done the same thing while playing games.I'm not sure how to tell If it is a heat issue because there is no separate fan for the cpu or gpu and I can't get temperature readings because my computer slows down too much and then shuts down.Computer Specs:Dell XPS 17 L702x
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
nVidia GeForce GT 555M with 3GB of vRAMIntel HD Graphics Family 2nd Generation, (the GT 555M is set to default though) 6GB DDR3 [PC3-10600] RAMIntel Core i7 2670QM @ 2.20 GHzMB: Dell Inc. 0XN71K FAB1, I'm not even 100% sure if it's the GPU because my system doesn't feel hot when my Laptop shuts down.

Laptop starts, shuts itself off. Sometimes will boot to Windows, then shut off. Now, obviously this thing is toast. But look at that thing..what's with the wire? What's with the huge blob of solder? Did somebody just cobble something up here so it would at least still power on, giving some hope of fixing it? Does anybody here think it's fixable if I replaced that chip? Is it a power mosfet? Sorry no pics of the reverse side as I haven't "progressed" to that point yet.

I have recently purchased an HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook Windows 7 Professional (PC Product #: E1P05AV). I'll usually close the lid to put it into sleep mode when I have to do something else. But when I open it back up, it has the "Start windows normally or safe mode" sreen. I've noticed that this only happens after a certain amount of time of being in sleep mode. If I wake it up prior to that, it works just fine. I hope that this can be resolved since this is a brand new laptop.

I have a 1 year old HP Probook 4540s that recently has the following problem.
When unplugged the laptop suddenly shuts down even tough the battery shows 29% still remaining.
I receive no notification from Windows or anything, it just shut downs like when the battery reaches 0%.
Then in order to start it again, I need to plug it in.
I previously didn't have any battery problems and running the HP Assistant informs me that the battery is ok and it doesn't need replacements. Basically the laptop is dead at 28%-29% battery life.

I chose a Dell Inspiron and believe the model is 15R although I can't be sure as I cannot remember exactly which one I chose to begin with and just checked my Dell boxes and all I saw was 'P17F', so I don't know if that's the model haha! But anyway..
Ever since I got my laptop to begin with there was the occasional time where it would switch off randomly. At first I found no reason for it and thought it might just be me and that I need to be a little more careful with it. Then it became more frequent and I noticed that it's when I move my laptop. I had it on my lap one day, I pulled my laptop a little closer to me as I was reading, and it shut down. I turned it on again and all was fine but now, 15 months on it's becoming a daily problem. I have checked the bottom of my laptop and see nothing that could be causing it. It is at the point now where small things such as tilting the screen back (and my laptop moves), setting my laptop on a cushion even the tiniest movements can cause it to switch off.
Just a minute a go, I put my sofa recliner up and it shut down as it was resting on my lap. I turned it on again, moved my leg slightly and it went again. I put it on a cushion because sometimes that works, it shut down again. I moved my laptop slightly to position it on the cushion better, went AGAIN. Then I tilted the screen back ever so slightly, it went again. I'm wondering if it's just the battery, as my battery only lasts for two hours unplugged when at first it lasted for five, then went down to three, and now two.

My laptop was working fine but then 5 minutes later after I shut down, I realized I forgot something so I started it back up again to find that after the Lenovo logo screen I would get a Fan Error message and the laptop shuts back down. Now I can't get into my computer at all.

I own a Dell studio 1555. When I first encountered the auto shut down problem, I ran the diagnostics and found my HDD is crashed. So I replaced with a new 1TB WD. My RAM is of 3GB. After couple of days, this problem started again. Majorly, I see this problem when I am trying to use internet in some browser.
One of the service center person told that it could be a CPU fan problem. He replaced it, but still the problem persists. Warranty period is expired for my laptop.

I've bought a Lenovo G575 three years ago, my warranty isn't active anymore. The fan in my laptop stopped working yesterday, and now when I do something that is CPU intensive, the Laptop shuts down because of the overheat.
Is there a way to buy a new fan? Should I open the laptop and take a look at the fan, to see if it can be fixed without changing the fan.

I have an Acer Aspire v3-551g-8454 laptop. Lately it has been shutting itself off after anywhere from 5 to 24 hours of it being turned on. In the past I could simply turn it back on and resume from there. Now, when I try to turn it back on, the power button just flashes a few times and the laptop doesn't turn on. The laptop doesn't feel overly hot anywhere on it's surface.

My Aspire V3-771 is a little over a year old now. I don't know much about computers, but i do enjoy several pc games, and watch a lot of streaming videos. when doing so my computer almost always shuts itself off, even while running games that could hardly be called graphic intensive. I'd thought it might be an overheating issue? but i don't think that's the case.
I've also noticed that, within the task manager, the disk will often jump to 100%.
Again, for months after i bought the machine, it worked perfectly fine. many of the programs that it used to run, now cause it to shut down without warning.

The fan, and I guess the system, does not turn off when going into sleep mode after the set 10 min of no activity but will if I go to sleep mode manually. I have already had to have a replacement fan after a year which I am sure was due to this issue.

I've bought a new laptop 1 week ago, and it's running smooth with 1 exception: Everytime I shut the computer down or save energy, it magically forgets it has fans to cool cpu and graphics card. When i try to run a game it will gradually drop fps until it shuts down from overheating. I tried to fully discharge it and disconnect it from the battery to identify the hardware and then set it to standard in the bios, then it works. But the moment I shut down the computer it is the same thing over again. I don't want to do said process everytime I start my laptop..

I have several brands of laptops and allover the years I tried more. The thing I am inquiring about here is the Sony harddisk.
I notice that in my TZ and FW series laptops the harddisk is always in operation (I hear it)
and the lamp ignites very frequent even when the computer is sitting still not doing anything

I bought it as you told me it does not have its HDD always running. I suffer from the same problem in my TZ and my FW and now the Z. I hear the HDD drive all the time working and its LED access flashing. Even when I am not doing anything. What is that ? Is it something with all VAIOs. My third VAIO now and the same thing. What can I do to reduce or cancel that. I have other laptops(other brands I mean) none of them does that.

We are all waiting on a refresh of the Dell Studio XPS 1645/1647 to include the 5000 series ATI graphics cards. So to get the message across I have come up with a little thing called "Operate GPU Refresh". If you have been following the iPhone/AT&T you should know of the "Operation Chokehold" that iPhone users took part in to try to get the message across the the AT&T network needs upgrading.
But instead of trying to take down Dell, we will simply be trying to get the message across to them that we want the new cards, and since every other manufacturer pretty much already offers them we "would" rather buy their competition.
On March 30th of 2010 all users who want to participate will visit the "Dell Chat" PC/Laptop sales chat and ask when the 5000 series will be available. Also chime in on the fact that competitors such as HP already have these newer graphics cards available and you are tired of waiting, and if they can't give a solid reason just say "I guess I will go with HP" or whichever company you feel is the next alternative to you.
Goal:
Get the message across that we as customers want the latest hardware.
Get the message across that Dell is lagging behind their competition and if we have to wait any longer we will forget about Dell and buy their competition (in theory).
So set your calendars for March 30th. Dell "D-Day". Us notebook review members telling Dell what we want, and that we want it NOW.

It has the 8GB SSD drive, 3 cell battery, 1GB of RAM, runs Windows XP, and has the standard 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor. I was going to purchase a full fledged notebook but I would rather spend $200 on a netbook now and then purchase a $1000+ desktop. I had a 17" notebook but it would only get about 1.4 hours on a single charge (and that was with the brightness turned all the way down). That notebook died and I am currently using a tablet PC but it can only get about 2 hours of operation on a single charge.
So how long does the 3 cell Aspire One last on a single charge? I know that factors such as screen brightness and wi-fi drastically affect battery performance. I mainly want to surf the internet via wi-fi (on my campus) and the screen brightness will be adjusted down to 50% or lower. I would be perfectly content with 3 hours or more. I read on some websites that the 6 cell versions can go for 6 hours or more. One reviewer said that his unit was able to go for 9 hours but I think their screen brightness was turned all the way down and wi-fi was turned off.
