For a few months now my Lenovo B575 laptop will become unresponsive if it sits idle for some time, around an hour. If music is playing, it continues to play, screen saver continues to go, but keyboard and mouse are locked up, system is unresponsive. Have to do hard shut down and then restart. I've checked power settings and nothing seems odd.
View 2 RepliesI'm looking for a Lenovo B575 bios update/flash utility since my BIOS has gone bad. I cannot change/save changes and cannot restore to defaults.
I cannot find bios updtae on lenovo site (not on drivers for B575 and not under the drivers matrix). I've even tried via "Phoenix" as it's their Bios, no good. And even via a third side component (biosagent plus) that should have Phoenix bios, still no good.
I have a W530 that is about 7 months old, and the battery, which used to sustain for 4-5 hours with moderate use of the computer, all of a sudden lasts no more than about half an hour. It was not a gradual change, but more overnight. When I look at the power manager, I note the full charge capacity of 10.23 Wh, which is extremely low for a battery that is only 7-8 months old. What would cause such a dramatic reduction in battery capacity in a matter of days, when I did not use the computer differently, or is my battery simply defective?
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my Y510p I am getting low memory warnings wether im playing a game or just idling or on youtbe. When I open up the task manager its says my memory is at 70%-100% WHILE IDLE but the programs are only using like 25%-40% memory so something is hidden. Just looking for a fix or allocating more memory to Windows. I have an 8Gb system.

My Lenovo touchpad is unresponsive after an update by avast that requires a reboot. I have no way to log in at this point. Is there a way around this? How do I fix it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my G505s in August 2013 and I'm only noticing now that it's been running pretty hot.I've been using several different programs to try to see and compare the temperatures of the quad core CPUs. I've also looked in many different fourm communities and have found this is not at all like the common overheating problems with the G505s. Others have experienced other heating problems when they play games, as their cores go to around 70C to 80C
"How so," you ask?Details and actions I've taken:
1. My temperatures soar to above 80C each when idle, and over 100 when doing light work.
2. BIOS and drivers have all been updated to the latest versions available for Windows 8.1 as per the Lenovo website.
3. I have never played games on the laptop, so I know the overheating is not because something related to that.
4. I cleaned my computer yesterday, although there was hardly any dust build up.
My temperature readings come from speccy, and hwmonitor.
I just installed the 8.1 update. It now seems that my laptop shuts off when idle It did not do this on 8....
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor a while now, my wireless has been cutting in and out and sometimes takes about a half hour to an hour to be able to connect again. Other laptops in the house connect to the same internet connection just fine. I met a girl last night who was saying how her internet wont connect anymore and she had the same laptop as me so I'm assuming its the computer and not the internet.
even before this issue though, the wireless networks window, when you click on the two computers to see the different connections, it always freezes to a white window to begin with and will take up til an hour to actually show the different connections.
This problem is incredibly annoying and i just want a solid internet connection without it cutting out .
i was just wondering about a couple of things about my d630 and see if i am out to lunch or is there something wrong with my laptop?
1. The Fan, the fan seems to run on full throttle all of the time. i used to have d800 and it will never did that. Its not like it does it when its hot or needs power, but the fan runs at full speed all of the time? is this ok?
2. Battery life - may be due to the fan, but my regular cell battery only lasts about an hour or an hour or 15 max? is this normal .....
Lately the time and date on my Lenovo yoga 2 pro are always off by one day and one hour. Even when I change them back to the normal date and time manually, they return to the incorrect date and time.

When I am running the computer I have it charged with the Optimised Battery Health option, so, less than 60% is charged all the time, and I have never removed the adapter if I am using it. But, when I went to sleep I removed the adapter from the laptop.
What happened: Today finally I am taking it out for a breath and it lasts for only an hour!!!!
What was on: I was using it to do some research online only. So technically only wifi was on - not even bluetooth or video or music play. I only ran Chrome, a dictionary software, and my Dropbox. Well, I actually turned the screen into very bright, which was full brightness minus two presses of F11 (to decrease the brightness).
Would it be a cause of upgrading to WINDOWS 8.1?! (like upgrade to iOS 7 on an Apple phone: running latest iOS consumes lots more battery capacity in older iPhone..)
I have three drives: mSSD, HDD, HDD in ultrabay. I think this is taking its toll on my battery. My first HDD is often used since it has my "DownloadsFirefox & uTorrent" folders. However, my second HDD only has music. Is there a way to have it automatically power-off when I don't play music from that drive?

When I power up a program like photoshop or play a low intensity game like starcraft 1, my cpu spikes to about 100C. I have cleaned the fan many times, but I can't get the temperatures to go down. I'm out of warranty too ..... What should I do to make my computer actually usable? Btw these temperatures are measured from when I run TPfancontrol on disengaged at all times.
I checked the load, and the CPU indeed idles at 70C when at 0% - 1% load. I also get god awful 1.5 hour battery life on a 9 cell battery.
I have a Lenovo Yoga 13 with an Intel i5-3337U. I noticed that it seems to be getting a lot hotter recently (touch wise), and so I installed coretemp on the ultrabook to find out what the idle temperature is.It seems to average out 47C idle.I was wondering if this is the average idle temp for this model process/laptop.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy Lenovo T410 laptop won't start. I hit the power button and it looks like it's about to boot up. The thinklight blinks on as normal, the cd drive is checked, the caps lock button blinks on, then nothing. No display, and keyboard is unresponsive. Power light remains on; if I leave it a while the fan comes on. I can turn the machine off using the power button, but the problem remains next time I switch it on.
I've tried removing power and battery, pressing power button 10 times then holding power for 30 secs, before replacing power and battery, but nothing happens. I've tried using a different keyboard. I've tried plugging in an external monitor. No change.
This problem appeared after I left it on overnight. I have a hunch that it went into hibernation mode, perhaps, and that it disrupted some important function which it was unable to complete.
So I ordered 2 of these fine laptops, one with the NVIdia 8400, and one with the built in graphics. The one with the built in graphics will no longer turn on at all, it was used for at most 1 hour. Push the power button, it lights for 3-4 seconds, then goes off and you can hear a fan spin down. Holding the Fn key on start up shows all three LED's on solid, and then it shuts down after 3-4 seconds. Pulled/reseated/replaced the ram, battery, wireless, and hard drive. Dell tells me its a dead mobo. So how much should I be scared of a dead mobo after 1 hour of use? Should I let them replace it through their Next Business Day onsite service (which now they tell me will take 2 days), or just send the junk back? My 21 days ends on the 18th.
On the other M1330 with Nvidia graphics, I have not had any issues, with one exception. If I have it on, once in a while I will hear this loud creaking sound, not sure if its the keyboard or not. It sort of sounds like the sound made when you replace the CPU cover panel, so maybe something is just screwed in too tight and its thermal expansion of some sort?
Both laptops have dents in the aluminum palm rest, above the upper left corner of the trackpad. I googled for this and it seems its an over-tightened case screw, so I have backed those 2 screws out a bit hoping it will help.
I'm really not all that impressed at this point with the one laptop. A total mobo failure in 1 hour of light usage (literally just set up favorites in IE and downloaded/installed a few vista updates) seems very shoddy to me.
I have ownwed a 1730 [purchased from Leee73 here] for 12 hours now, I spent a few hours downloading all the necessary drivers from Dell and installing them as it had a fresh install of Home Premium. I loaded 3D Mark 2006 and ran it with slightly underwheling results [12000 marks] But I do know that Vista and some drivers dont do well in that benchmark. I loaded Crysis, R6 Vegas2, GRAW2 and UT3 and I must say that this machine totally rocks. Every game is maxed out in screen resolution and still pulls playable framerates. The image quality is mind blowing. The Logitech LCD is fun in a bunch of ways. Ya this is a desktop replacement, but definatly ultra portable compared to lugging a tower to a lan party or on a camping trip. The I/O ports are all laid out well. THe one thing thays missing is a fingerprint scanner. Imagine going to the toilet at a lanparty, you could simply lock your computer with the swipr of a finger so jealous competitors cant go mess with your regidstry. The webcam is a must along with the microphones [although I have no use for them at the moment] The speakers sound crisp and clear and I hear sounds in games that I previously have never heard on my Quad core 3870 Xfired 1066ram raid powered desktop. I also own a 1710 and anyone who compares these machines simply has no idea what there talking about. I really like my 7900GTX powered 1710, but its no 1730 when it comes to flat out image quality and overall performance.
The 1730 could use some beefed up ram as thats the only thing holding back the Windows experience index to a 5.0. I got a great deal on my 1730, I would buy one new from Dell if a smokin deal came along like when I bought my 1710, but I am too cheap to pay full retail. If you were thing on buying a 1730 but had read others complain, dont listen to them, Its an awesome gaming rig, and even though guys with single 8800s in their laptops can brag of simular 3D Amrk scores, you can rest assured that they would have bought a SLI if they could have. And they secretly deep down inside will forever remain envious.
My hp probook 6570b automatic shut down after 1 hour. Other function work perfectly.

When I just unplug the power cord, it says 3 hours.. and then the remaining time of the battery dropped quickly inpproportionate to the physical time past. The whole time I was just surfing the internet, IMing and playing music. The battery is 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery.

It started happening about every hour, and has now increased to about every 20 minutes. If left it will be on an- on- crash- restart loop for eternity every 20 minutes. The computer needs about an hour to start, but when windows finally is loaded, it works like a charm.The "F2 for bios screen" takes about an hour to load.I have done a Acer factory reset.Tested the WD-hard disk - No faults, I've run memtest86 - No errors. I've tried to update the bios from Acer's download section, but all I get is error. Like I said, the computer works like a charm, only it takes about an hour for start up.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an Acer Aspire 5720-4516 and started having some problems with it. I just fixed the Wireless connection problem thanks to a fellow member's suggestion ( the card was out of place), so now I'm going to address the camera problem.
Calling the Acer company, they gave me a bunch of useless information, albeit very politely, and led me in a wild goose chase. Not only that, but the drivers they had in their US page were slightly all over the place. But I digress, the camera was working fine for a few weeks after I bought the laptop, then just as easily, it wasn't opening up as it should. I downloaded drivers like crazy, and still nothing happens. The Acer Crystal Eye program opens and the 'booth' like setup is fine just as it was originally, but the space where the image is doesn't show up. After a few more tries of trying to access the program, it would just not load and it would tell me to search for the latest drivers once more. I would download the latest ones and still nothing.
I wonder if other people have had the same complications as me. Anyone have any suggestions? How can I check if the device is actually active in my computer, because I've tried looking for a way to tell and nothing comes up.
Long time no see! I'm about to grab a Inspiron 1521 for $100, the problem is in the title. Run's fine, for a half an hour then shuts off.
My assumption is the maximum problems could be:
- Fans not working, resulting in an overheating: hence shutdown at max temp.
- Heatsinks or thermal compound issues, resulting in an overheating: hence shutdown at max temp.
- Rare possibility that it has a cold solder somewhere located in the mobo: hence shutdown after 30 minutes of running, generated heat build up .....
My Studio 1735 has been quite reliable, until today when I closed the lid and left it for an hour. When I came back it simply refuses to switch on at all, so I checked the battery (full charge) and the adapter (green light) so all power sources look good. Briefly, the button on the opposite side of the laptop from the power switch did show a white light, but that's died as well now! I removed the CMOS battery in case it was a logical problem, but it made no difference.

View 8 Replies View Relatedrecently I was using my XPS 1530 under normal circumstances when out of nowhere it started to become unresponsive and internet explorer froze. I had to manually turn off the power and then restarted. The laptop installed some Windows updates and I figured all would be well.
Well, I was wrong. Ever since then my laptop is extremely slow and programs such as internet explorer refuse to start. The problem is worse when my wireless card is active. For some reason all my restore points are gone as well. I dont know if I picked up a virus or if my HDD is starting to die. Most frustrating is the fact that I can't run any diagnostics without the laptop freezing or becoming horribly slow.
So, my problem is I dont even know where to start on how to fix this. My last resort would be to re-format my HDD and see if that fixes it but I dont want to do anything that drastic yet. Any ideas would be helpful seeing as I dont feel like dealing with Dell support yet.
my track pad on my M1530. I have sometime when I will run my finger across the track pad but the cursor with not move. It will jitter a little bit but will do nothing else. Then after a couple seconds, and sometime a hit on the palm rest, it will work again. It has happened probably the whole time I have had the laptop( 7 months), and now it seems to be occurring more frequently. Also, for the whole time I have had the laptop, the track pad will not always register a tap on it as a click, it just sits there like I did nothing. I know that could be a setting, but I have messed with them the best I can and it has changed nothing. Do you think this could be a driver issue, I have updated the driver since I got the laptop, or could it be bad hardware that came with the laptop. I have a complete care warranty, so they would probably replace it no problem, and I am already going to have the motherboard replaced because of a broken clip on the Ethernet port.

I've played with all the settings I can find, and installed the latest Synaptics XP driver, but Windows seems to see it as a "PS/2 port pointing device" - the laptop doesn't have a PS/2 port, so this is obviously incorrect.
