Lenovo B / G Series :: B575e Shuts Down In Sleep Mode
Mar 5, 2014
This has been happening for a few months. Doesn't do it every time. Now out of waranty.
Closing the lid or sleep mode via Win 7 shut down works. But later and sometimes immediately, when I lift the lid I have to power up and boot. Found on the forum that there is a Intel bios option? Haven't checked that yet. But; this is an AMD unit.

I have recently purchased an HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook Windows 7 Professional (PC Product #: E1P05AV). I'll usually close the lid to put it into sleep mode when I have to do something else. But when I open it back up, it has the "Start windows normally or safe mode" sreen. I've noticed that this only happens after a certain amount of time of being in sleep mode. If I wake it up prior to that, it works just fine. I hope that this can be resolved since this is a brand new laptop.

The fan, and I guess the system, does not turn off when going into sleep mode after the set 10 min of no activity but will if I go to sleep mode manually. I have already had to have a replacement fan after a year which I am sure was due to this issue.

I have a problem with My Lenovo y510p. I was working for some time on Windows 7 with no errors. I decided to upgrade my system to Windows 8.1. I did a clean install and installed all drivers from Lenovo website as well. I have a problem that after waking up laptop from sleep mode sometimes (not always) built-in keybord is not working. Solution is to turn compter sleep again and wake it up again or logoff from windows and login again.
Have any of you had such problem with Windows 8.1? I tried power management options changes that used to be a solution for other brands but with no success...

My question concerns the non-functioning sleep mode buttons on my Lenovo W540 20BG.
In my current power management settings, the W540 is suppose to enter sleep mode by pressing Fn4 or by pressing the round power button shortly. However, either one of these methods do not work.
My computer does enter sleep mode when usign the Windows start menu (Start->Shut Down -> Sleep).

My Ideapad Z570 has been doing this for some time - the screen is black, lights are on, and won't wake up. I inevitably end up turning it off, so I lose my work.
I've delayed the sleep mode to reduce the number of instances...

sometime in sleep mode my Yoga fall into irresponsive mode without any possibility to do anything. The power button is simply not working - pushing it for more than 30 second not change anything... Yoga red light is slowly blinking, the fn key is lighting, the fan is working, processor is heating and this follows to full drain battery.
Is any possibility to reset or reboot this "thermal brick" Yoga mode? Some computers and tablet have the hard reset button to work with such a situation - have Thinkpad Yoga similar solution (i.e. button combination invoking reset)?

I've read other forums on similar issues, but I can't seem to find one that matches mine exactly.
System: Y410p with
1tb hdd
24gb ssd
intel i7-4700
8gb ram
64x windows 8.1 (came installed)
Problem:
When I put the computer into sleep mode, it goes into sleep mode without issue. It has stayed in sleep mode for a maximum of 8 hours, but usually before it hits this long the system will turn on. It seems to run random processes and overclock the processor as the computer gets very hot. It will do this until the battery dies, or if plugged in, indefinitely.
While it is doing this I have opened the lid, pressed every key, including power, with no response. Once, and only once, upon pressing the space bar, it had actually come to the unlock screen as though it truly was in sleep (except it was still overheating and on). Otherwise my only option is hard shut down.
I've just gone around it for a while now by shutting down every time and not using sleep. But today I had put it in sleep, and placed it in my backpack where it nearly cooked itself to death.I have tried:
-I have checked the wake_armed, which currently display NONE
-I have checked last_wake
-I have fiddled with hybrid shutdown.

I just got my x230 yesterday and I'm having some weird issues.
(1) whenever my laptop goes to sleep mode. I can't seem to make it wake up. The power button would just slowly blink and would not respond to anything. I would have to hard reset my laptop for it to turn on. When I turn it back on, it would go the "Start windows normally" screen.
(2) whenever I close the lid, I'm guessing it tries to go to sleep mode, then if I wake it up, the system seem to reboot and would go to the "start windows normally" screen.
Both seems to all relates to sleep mode.

I have a quad core Lenovo W520 (i7-2820QM) equipped with Intel AMT. I have all RAM slots populated (original 2GB in each that came with the machine). I have updated to the latest BIOS (1.42 at the time of writing) and latest Intel Management Engine Firmware 7.1 (7.1.85.1216 at the time of writing). The machine has Crucial 256GB X100 SSD installed in the main compartment and a regular HDD in UltraBay.
The computer acts normally in sleep mode and restart sequence only when Intel AMT states that "ME is in recovery state..." during boot.
When it looks like AMT is happy problems begin. The problem is that when I'm trying to put the computer to sleep it goes all the way until the end per normal procedure and then suddenly decides to power itself off! Obviously Windows doesn't like this and displays recovery suggestions after starting the laptop again. This happens when connected to AC and also when disconnected from it. Also, when computer reboots it turns off all power (i.e. the display along with backlight, indicator LEDs turn off and fans spin down for a sec) inbetween and automatically starts up after that.
I've tested this on Windows 7 and openSUSE 13.1 (which I had lying nearby) and same behavior happens on both OSes. On Windows, all the latest drivers and updates were installed. So I don't think this is driver nor OS dependent - rather firmware/hardware related problem.
What is funny, it doesn't matter whether Intel AMT is activated in BIOS or not. What matters is whether the Management Engine is in some kind of recovery state or not. When it's not, computer starts acting crazy as stated above and behaviour is repeatable. Intel AMT itself seems to work however. Changing the power policy in Intel ME configuration doesn't work for sleep issue.
Some things I've also tried doing:
* Replace CMOS battery (measured its voltage before putting it in, of course) with a new one - no effect
* Tried two different brands of SSDs (OCZ Vertex 3 and Crucial X100) - no effect
* Tried both legacy and UEFI modes - no effect
* Scanned RAM for memory errors - no effect
Could Lenovo try to repeat this issue and possibly do something about this?

I have my lenovo x230 laptop set to sleep when I close the lid. When I close the lid the "sleep" icon on the back of the screen lights up. But the batter will not last through the night on sleep mode. Within five hours or so, the battery is completely drained and I have to plug in and boot up the system. I've never seen such poor batter performance during sleep mode on any other laptop I've ever owned.
Another thread in this forum blames the USB port that allows you to charge mobile phones/etc. during low-power states and recommends disabling the "always power on" option fo this USB port in the Bios settings. At least my laptop still will not make it through the night in sleep mode.
At this point, it seems my ownly option is to use sleep mode only when the laptop is plugged in and hibernation mode when on batter power, which is disappointing. I've never had to worry about this in the past with other laptops. Perhaps/probably related is the fact that the lenovo ThinkVantage Power Manager (v. 7.16) hangs at the splash screen when I try to open it, so I've been trying to manage the power through the windows control panel power settings.

The most critical issue on my week old L520 is that it goes into sleep mode seemingly randomly even while I'm doing work. (In fact, it went into sleep mode twice while writing this post.)
I have the newest (3.59) Power Management Installed with all settings set to keep the system awake, plus updated drivers for both Lenovo and Microsoft via the Think Vantage Toolbox update feature.
According to TP Fan Control the temperatures seem fine, except perhaps for the 6th and 8th sensor, where the temperature always hovers around 60c or a little below. [URL]...

I just bougth the T440 and I have two main problems related to sleep mode, which both seems to happend randomly. The most common problem is that when I close the lid (the action suppose to activate sleep mode), the computer seems to freeze during the time it is going to sleep : The red light is still on as when the computer is in 'normal mode', but there is no display and the keyboard seems unresponsive. I have no choice but to restart the computer.
Sometimes the computer seems to enter in sleep mode correctly (the red light slowly goes on and off, which according to the manual indicates that the computer is in sleep mode), but when I open the lid, the screen remains black and I can see nothing but the mouse. I have no choice but to restart the computer.
It also happened once that the above problem (the second one) kept occuring even after multiple restart of the computer. The only way I could solve it was by using 'windows safe mode'. As the problems occur randomly, I am unable to say if they were already there when I received the computer, or if they started to happen after the few windows updates/software installation I did.

I have a T430 that is a couple of months old. I've had this problem from the very beginning. Decents specs (have a Dell laptop with same specs and it never has this issue).
Processor: Intel Core i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60 GHz
RAM: 4GB
Basically, after every time the laptop is in sleep mode for more than 30 minutes, once I open up the laptop and log in, there is a period of 3-4 minutes where it is EXTREMELY slow. The computer lags ridiculously...

I have a T440, and I've set in BIOS to swap places for fn and ctrl. This works great until the machine goes to sleep or similar. After awakening the machine the keys are back to their original setting, with fn being fn, and ctrl being ctrl.
I havent explored this in detail but just found the machine sporadically losing the setting, but never while I'm working on it. So either from sleep or from locked screen.
I always use FnLk as well and that is also lost when this happens. I have to restart to get back the setting for fn-ctrl swap, but FnLk i can just enable,
I run Windows 8.1 on my T440.

I'm not sure if any other user has experience this issue. I did a lenovo update couple weeks back and since then my wireless adapter would not work after waking up from sleep mode. It shows that the wireless adapter is connected to wireless network but the internet would not work. The only way i can make it work is by disabling the wifi adapter by putting the laptop in airplane mode and then bringing it back out from it. Disabling and enabling the wireless adapter does a quick fix and does allow me to use the internet without any issue for the time being. i have also uninstalled and reinstalled fresh drivers from lenovo website, still having the same problem.

I have a Inspiron 14R for about a year and half now. This computer has done this since day one for some reason:
When I put the 14R in SLEEP mode, the computer remains in sleep mode for about 2-3 hours, then the computer shuts itself off, or goes into hibernation mode on it's own. The computer has Windows 7 Premiuim.
I have the power saving modes all set too SLEEP, and none in hibernation in any of the selections. I cannot for the life of me why this computer does this. I have a Lenovo I bought about a year later using Windows 7 Premium with all the same settings in the POWER section, and while in sleep mode, it STAYS in SLEEP mode, no matter the length of time in that mode. Any setting I need to turn off, and where to find it?

When I unplug it, the laptop immediately shuts off.
The battery also only charges up to 92% and doesn't go any higher.
Does this mean my battery is faulty and needs to be replaced?

I've bought a Lenovo G575 three years ago, my warranty isn't active anymore. The fan in my laptop stopped working yesterday, and now when I do something that is CPU intensive, the Laptop shuts down because of the overheat.
Is there a way to buy a new fan? Should I open the laptop and take a look at the fan, to see if it can be fixed without changing the fan.

When I put my laptop to sleep or it sits idle for a period of time and goes to sleep on it's own it stops recognizing the laptop monitor. It will still display on other monitors connected through the docking station, but not the laptop. It doesn't matter if I put it to sleep while on the dock or off the dock, it never recognizes the monitor.
I have an Intel HD Grpahics 4600, and an NVIDIA Quadro K1100M video cards. I've checked drivers for both and they both say they are up to date (9/29/14 for Intel, and 09/12/2014 for NVIDIA). I have also updated every possible thing in the Lenovo System Update.
This problem occured after switching from windows 7 to windows 8.1.I have also lost the ability to control the brightness of my laptop monitor through my computer at any point in time. The function keys don't work, and the setting is not shown on my power manager.

Had my Z40-70 about two weeks now, and am having trouble getting Conservation Mode to actually kick in. So was wondering how to properly get this to go.
Had been calling up Energy Manager (v1.0.0.35) from the system tray, pressing the fly-out pane, clicking the last tab, and enabling Conservation Mode. Energy Manager even says it's on Conservation Mode, yet the battery is showing 'Fully Charged (100%)."
Whenever I happen to get Conservation Mode enabled, and need a fully charged battery the next day, I open the Energy Manager options and disable Conservation Mode. That usually sets it back to charging at 100%. But when I get back home ans want Conservation Mode, it never really goes into that mode - just says that it is.
So is there some ritual I should do each time, like turn off the laptop, unplug it, and turn it back on, then plug it back in, - or something else? Am at a total loss on getting this back into Conservation Mode.
What I had done on a previous attempt was to repair the program from the Lenovo rebuild partition (it is not hidden). But I don't want to do that every time I want Conservation Mode enabled again.
There has to be something else that I'm missing, as even the instructions over at Conservation Mode in Lenovo Energy Manager doesn't work in this case.
So what's the secret in getting back into Conservation Mode?
