I've have had a Lenovo g500s running windows 8.1 for almost a year and never had an major issue. But recently I have found that it will not turn on. I have found that by taking out and putting the battery back in will rarely result in the battery light blinking in red. If i try to turn it on at this point it will turn for a few second "prepare for automatic repairs" and then in a few seconds turn back off its original turned off state. I have tried "Flee-Power" while calling technical support and it made a small noise and then issued a burning smell. It's 1 year warranty is still valid.

My problem with Lenovo G470 is this: every 10, 12 days it shutdowns and can't use it for a time. I'm doing anything (listening to music, writting a text, etc) or sometimes I'm afk and just doing nothing and it happens anyway. And then, for a time it's impossible to start windows. I turn on the laptop and the Lenovo logo appears, but then just shuts down.
Maybe 4-5 hours later it starts to work ok again. Im not sure aboout this because when this happen i usually leave it there and come back the next day.
Also, this happens on battery or plugged in. Is the same. Another weird thing that occurs sometimes is that when I'm using it on battery and I turn it off, the laptop shutdown, but the on/off button light doesn't turns off. I need to plug it in to solve this. I don't know if could be related, but I replaced the W7 home basic with the ultimate version. While I had it with home basic this didn't happened, but it was a short time (2 days) so I couldn't determine if this is related. Anyway I have the recovery CDs if a probable solution would be that.
I've read here about solutions like flashing the bios. I didn't do it but I could try it if you think it could work. I don't know if there are new updates. The truth is I'm a total newbie on flashing the bios.I can't turn on the laptop with the on/off button. But if I press space and escape it turns on again, and fails again of course.

I have had my Lenovo U430 touch for about a month now, and have noticed a problem with it. Sometimes when I leave my Lenovo u430 touch alone (with full battery), and sometimes it will just power off without me doing anything. It even happens occasionally when I dont use it for a few minutes while im working in front of it.
It is definitely a power-off problem for me, rather than hibernate/sleep as my programs are no longer running when I turn it back on.
Hasnt caused any lasting damage as yet but am worried it could happen while im working on something important.

Using my Ideapad Y410p this morning (six months old), the computer abruptly crashed and shutdown with no warning of any sort. Straight to black screen and lights went out. I thought perhaps it overheated and shutdown as some sort of safety measure, as my old Dell used to do that. The laptop was warm, but I've seen it get hotter and still perform.
Now I can't get power back. Pressing the on/off button doesn't get me any sort of noise or lights. Tried unplugging the battery and AC power for a while, and still not working. Held down power button several times seeing if it would reset something. Opened it up the cover and took a look but didn't see anything wrong. Popped the RAM cards in and out. It's just dead in the water.

I bought my Lenovo Y40 on the Lenovo Web site a couple months ago and recently, to turn on, I have to press the power button twice. When I press just once, the Lenovo`s logo is displayed on the screen, but after 2 seconds everything turns off. On the second trying, finally the laptop turns on and the windows is started.
In addition, rarely the laptop stucks on the lenovo`s logo screen, being necessary to hold on the power to reset it.

I'm having an issue where my lappy completely freezes up when it is on battery power. It will boot off of battery fine, and I can click to the desktop, but then all icons become unclickable and all keys/input functions cease to work, and after about 30 seconds, the mouse won't move anymore. If it is on and then unplugged, it instantly freezes. I checked and I have the most up-to-date bios and drivers. I'm a bit perplexed as I've never run across an issue like this before.

Windows did an update today, and now my pc won't run on battery power. The battery icon is just empty and says plugged in and not charging. This is the first time I've encountered this problem. When I unplug it, it immediately dies.

I have a W530 (2436 CTO) ThinkPad purchased 11/10/13. It will not power up.While in use the screen went black, then the unit tried to reboot. Just as Windows began to initiate, the screen went black again. It immediatly tried to restart about three times in quick succession, about 3 seconds long each time. It was powered with the AC adapter at the time with the battery in place. I have tried all combinations with or without the battery or AC. In either mode, the power button lights up for approximately 1-2 seconds, then goes black. I have tried holding in the power button for 30 seconds. Nothing, other than about a 2 second light, then dead.
I have never received any power warning messages, low battery warning or the like. The only unusual behavior I've ever had is about half a dozen times I've had to do a hard power down. But not recently.I have tried the removing and replacing the SSD. I have removed and switched the two memory boards to test for a bad board or bad connector. None of these have solved the problem. I’m guessing the SSD failed, or perhaps a bad BIOS chip. I can easily replace the SSD, but 9 months of moderate use seems like a short lifespan for even an SSD. I can't update the BIOS (if that's the issue) because I can't get the unit powered up.

I've looked at the other threads and tried removing the battery while the laptop is off for 30-40 seconds but it doesn't run because it's not getting power from the charger at all.
The laptop is a couple years old and the hinges on both sides have been pried off (can provide pics) but I never had problems until now - I plug the charger in but it won't charge and even if I pop the battery out it STILL doesn't charge!
One night, I had to set the charger upright in order for it to charge. Today I had to set the bulky and heavy part of the charger higher above the laptop in order for it to charge. Now, how to get this thing to work because proping the charger upright or higher than the laptop isn't working anymore!
I've noticed a couple weeks ago when I was visiting my parents that the adapter emits a beeping sound - notice that I said the adapter NOT the laptop. If I unplug it the beeping sound fades. The beeping sound comes from the adapter and when I unplug the cord going from my laptop to the adapter you can hear the beeping sound fade away from the prongs that conect the adapter to the laptop (not the prongs that plug into the outlet).
Like I said before it doesn't matter if I've plugged it into an outlet with OR without the battery in it, the laptop does not receive any power from the adapter or recharges.

Every 5 to 10 minutes after startup during a small period the laptop returns a blue screen with this message DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.
It’s so devastating to have to witness this every time again. I thought I bought a reliable laptop but now I have doubts. What can I do to stop this. I have looked through the other messages but I can’t find the right solution for my problem.

I have just received this laptop. I followed the instructions out of the box, installing the battery, then connecting the power. The battery started charging that first time, but after that, any time I tried reconnecting the A/C power supply, the laptop would not recognize the adapter and I am not able to charge my battery.
I have tried the following steps:
1. Shutting down the computer, removing the battery, and starting the computer from the A/C power supply. The computer will not recognize the A/C power supply to turn on the computer.
2. Updating all the power management drivers. Everything was already installed properly.
3. Using the Lenovo Energy Management battery gauge. I must have the A/C power supply plugged in to use it, but the computer still won't recognize it.
4. Held down the power button for 30-40 seconds then reset the BIOS to default settings. No change
5. Tested my outlets and connections between my AC adapter cords. Everything is working properly.
There is one way that I can get the computer to recognize the AC adapter, and that involves all of these steps shown below, but when I unplug the AC adapter I am right back to the beginning, and I have to redo the whole process. I have just received this laptop and I am quite sure that you shouldn't have to go through this process every time you want to recharge the battery, or use your computer while only powered by the AC adapter.
Steps I have to take to recharge my battery:
A. Disconnect the A/C power supply.
B. Shut down the computer.
C. Remove the battery
D. Connect the A/C power supply
E. Start the computer.
F. Uninstall all battery drivers that are labeled Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery (which come back every time).
G. Shut the computer down.
H. Disconnect the A/C power supply.
I. Insert the battery.
J. Insert the A/C power supply.
K. Start the computer.
That is the ONLY way I have gotten my computer to recognize the A/C power supply. I know the power supply is functional, but why I have to go through all of those steps for the laptop to recognize it.

I got an X230 a few months ago and the power key has stopped working. It doesn't spring back like the other keys and pressing it has no affect. My laptop is under warenty so I plan on contacting the store I bought it in about a repair but I'm wondering is there any way for me to use the laptop in the meantime? Any way to turn the laptop on without using the power key?

Shortly after I received my laptop, I installed a third-party battery monitor, BatteryCare, to monitor the battery in the laptop because I'd used it on previous software and liked having a second source of information. I've been running the laptop like a desktop for the last few months though and havent had to pay any attention to batter life, since the thing is always plugged in so I decided to delete BatteryCare.
The uninstall went fine, but when I restarted the computer I noticed that the icon displaying remaining battery life did not reappear. I went digging to see if the uninstallation might have uninstalled a driver but I couldn't find anything indicating a problem like this. I still have the Energy Monitor - just nothing showing up much juice is left in the battery.
Any pointers on what drivers/devices I might have to reinstall to get power monitor icon back. I checked the Driver Matrix, here, but I couldn't find anything about solution. Should I just reinstall the Energy Management utility?

I've got an x240 with bios enabled fingerprint and the latest fingerprint driver/utlity installed, a fingerprint registered and all the options checked for fingerprint to be integrated and boot.
When the laptop is powered off the fingerprint swipe doesn't boot the machine, no LED on it, it's dead. How do I make fingerprint power on work? When the laptop is in sleep mode the fingerprint swipe doesn't boot the machine, no LED on it, it's dead. How do I make fingerprint resume from standby work? When win7 boots and it's at the CTRL+ALT+DEL login screen the fingerprint LED is green, a fingerprint swipe does nothing. How do I get single sign on to work?Only when I manually hit CTRL+ALT+DEL will the Fingerprint graphic then show on screen, at that point the swipe works. How do get the fingerprint to log me in without any manual intervention? The x201 I had previously did all this without an issue.

My z500 cannot boot up without power cable plugged in. Usually,a few seconds after I saw the lenovo logo, the system will suddenly shut down just like the battery was removed.however,if I connect powercable to the laptop and power on,everything is fine,I can enter windows 8,or ubuntu, after I enter OS,I can disconnect the power cable without any problems.the battery is healthy and can last for more than 2 hours.
So far I tried the following methods:
1.update BIOS
2.update battery firmware
3.reset BIOS
none of them worked for me....

Z710 power management can't install, win7 64 because "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software"
I pushed the "Install this driver software anyway" but the hardware still wasn't recognized after installation/reboot.
So I installed instead of that the Lenovo Energy Management Software Ver 7.0.3.4 ...
This is working, but I dont know if it is a problem for my system becouse of incompatibility with the battery of Z710.
Any digitally signed driver for my Z710 or I can use the version 7.0.3.4 without problem?

My X200 (three or four years old) has a new battery (few months only) and has never had any power issue. Suddenly since last week it will not operate without the power supply plug in. Battery is showing 100% and condition excellent, but the second I remove/unpower the power supply plug, the system crashes. On restart with power supply attached, the battery indicator shows 1%! It then gradually creeps up to 4% and after maybe 5 mins it leaps back up to 100%.
