Lenovo B / G Series :: G470 Shutdown And Cannot Use It For A Time (in Intervals Of 10-12 Days)
Mar 10, 2013
My problem with Lenovo G470 is this: every 10, 12 days it shutdowns and can't use it for a time. I'm doing anything (listening to music, writting a text, etc) or sometimes I'm afk and just doing nothing and it happens anyway. And then, for a time it's impossible to start windows. I turn on the laptop and the Lenovo logo appears, but then just shuts down.
Maybe 4-5 hours later it starts to work ok again. Im not sure aboout this because when this happen i usually leave it there and come back the next day.
Also, this happens on battery or plugged in. Is the same. Another weird thing that occurs sometimes is that when I'm using it on battery and I turn it off, the laptop shutdown, but the on/off button light doesn't turns off. I need to plug it in to solve this. I don't know if could be related, but I replaced the W7 home basic with the ultimate version. While I had it with home basic this didn't happened, but it was a short time (2 days) so I couldn't determine if this is related. Anyway I have the recovery CDs if a probable solution would be that.
I've read here about solutions like flashing the bios. I didn't do it but I could try it if you think it could work. I don't know if there are new updates. The truth is I'm a total newbie on flashing the bios.I can't turn on the laptop with the on/off button. But if I press space and escape it turns on again, and fails again of course.
I have been using this laptop since 2011. During the last 5 month, the laptop have problem to power on occasionally. below are the condition:
Connect to adapter without battery (cannot power up)Connect to adapter with battery (cannot power up)With battery only (can power up but need to try several time. example push power button for 10 second)My adapter and battery are original and i dont change any hardware.
1.laptop is not charging and the battery level is stuck in 2% [AC plugged] 2.battery is not draining as well it's stuck on 0% for more than hour [on battery
I just got my new x100e laptop today, and i really like it. But, it has a problem.
I am connected to my wireless network at home, and it works properly on my other computers at house. But on the x100e, the connection drops from time to time. Suddenly, the internet is gone, but ten seconds later, the network is back up again.
It's not that big a problem, but it is frustrating to lose the internet from time to time. It happens from every 5 minutes to once 30 minutes.
I turn on my laptap and it start up normally. All are loaded up in the homescreen except the cursor which keeps on loading ( its like when you refresh). All keys are not working except to the CapsLock key, the touchpad and trackpoint ( color red) are working.
I remove the power source and battery to shut it down but it doesn't shut down! Now it is running for 5 minutes, and the screen still ON, continue to refresh. How to shut this down and restart.
It has been just a week after getting my new laptop it has stated to thermal shutdown the base becomes too hot to touch i logged the cpu temperatures it reaches 100c but gpu is cool below 60c . this shut down happens when i play games even very light games i face this problem . i had done a clean install of windows 8.1 and i updated all my drivers and bios from the lenovo site.
I realize that there are several threads on W520 shutdowns, but I haven't quite found a similar problem to mine: A random, sudden shutdown occurs while the laptop is on battery. The problem does not occur when using the power adaptor. It also seems to have nothing to do with physical movement of the laptop, nor with power consumption/heat. After going blank from one second to the next, the laptop restarts. Seeing that the laptop works fine with the power adaptor, is there any reason to believe that components on the main board could be the problem? If not, I could just get another battery, even though this still seems ok.
I upgraded my brand new U410 to Windows 8, and immediately noticed that shutdown took more than 5 hours, at which point I would just kill it by holding down the power button.
Took delivery of my brand new y510p yesterday and the last 24 hours have been hell. The PC is incredibly slow, much slower than my three year old XPS 15 from dell.
The laptop won't shut down/restart.. It just goes through shutdown screen then black screen with keyboard monitor fan etc still on.I have done a system recovery back to initial state and am now running windows updates as first port of call but its been stuck on 13 out of 32 update (whilst shutting down) for the past hour and half.
I bought a brand new Lenovo Z580 Ideapad 2 months ago and now I am experiencing abrupt shutdown. I work for sometime and suddenly it automatically shutsdown (it doesn't show th shutting down progress instead it turns powers off the laptop at that instant). Here are my specs:-
Model:- Z580 RAM:- 4GB Processor:- i5 3210M HDD:- 1TB Graphic Card:- Intel HD 4000 and Nvidia 635M OS:- Windows 8
Notebook x240 Dock: Thinkpad Pro Dock (40A1 M20) this is important cause the update firmware tools must be for this version (40a1 m20) if someone has a link to it.
I do have this link: [URL]
But in case it doesn't work i'd like to update Dock's firmware.
I have a problem with shutting down my computer. While it seems like the system is closed and the screen goes black, the laptop is still working (power button still glows white and ventilators are on). The only way to shut it down completely is by holding the power button for 5 seconds.
In last month my laptop used to be working for 4-5 days in a row, and only today did I notice that it won't shut down. I did some research and found out that the feature called "Fast Startup" is responsible for this - disabling it with Energy Management resolves the problem, and the laptop shuts down nicely, while re-enabling it makes the problem return. I also found out that the Fast Startup feature (while enabled) creates(/modifies?) a file called "hiberfil.sys" which stores data about my current session and then shuts down the laptop completely.
So apparently there is something wrong about this file or the process of creation/modification of it (I'm not sure how it works) when I try to shut down my laptop. Or even it might be not about that file, but some 3-rd party process which blocks the creation/modification of it?
So my question is what can I do to solve this problem withoutdisabling the Fast Startup feature (I mean disabling it costs me like additional 40 second during turning my computer on, which is not much, but the pure fact that I have to disable this means I have some problems with my laptop).
PS. I ran the "powercfg.exe /hibernate off" command, restarted the laptop, then ran the "powercfg.exe /hibernate on" command, in hope of clean-creation of hiberfil.sys file, but it did not work (maybe there is a way of manually deleting it in order to automatical re-creation of the file during the next shut-down?).
The only thing on my mind now is leaving the laptop "shut down" for a night - maybe that file is so large it needs a lot of time to be created/modified, but that wouldn't explain why shutting down my laptop in the previous 7 months has been taking only like 5-7 second, not the whole night.
X220 Tablet .... After hours of troubleshooting, I finally found the cause of my Windows 7 Pro Shutdown issue.
The Tablet would hang at Shutdown, then BSOD. I systematically removed drivers until I found the cause. The current installed version of the Thinkpad Tablet Button Driver, Version 1.04.0.0 as installed by System Update was the culprit. As soon as I uninstalled that driver, no more issues.
I recently bought an X240 and have this shutdown problems. Before it was caused by Norton anti-virus so I uninstalled it, then the laptop was working fine. Now, after some Windows update, it doesn't shutdown again. What is wrong with this laptop?
Running Windows 8.1 for some time, but latest updates (8/13/14) cause the problem. Restore point and shutting down updates allows use, but it's a short term fix.Which update causes the paroblem?
My laptop Dell inspiron N5010 shutdown automatically after some time, i alse diagnose the problem, during diagnose i get the error 2000-0146 of hard disk.
laptop is also shutdown automatically during diagnose and in safe mode. How to diagnose this problem..
I got to admit that I got this Laptop for quite a while now but it is still bothering me that it reboots automatically after shutdown when power cord is plugged in. Without the power cord it works as it should.....
Normally when I shut power off my MacBook Pro, it takes about 4-5 seconds and then its off. Since I installed VMware Fusion yesterday, it takes about 1 minute to power off. What is going on? I read somewhere that when you quit a virtual machine you need to choose "kill all" to stop any background processes. How do I do this or is this just normal.
I have a 4 year old Dell which I have had cleaned and maintained by Dell services in order to keep temperatures and hardware in check.
However, I am constantly experiencing an "Event" according to Event viewer, or "Event 6008". What it says is "Computer shutdown at X time unexpectedly."
I have monitored temperatures, have all latest drivers for all components, yet I continually get the same crash. The computer goes completely off, no bluescreen, no error. I used "Who Crashed" in an attempt to record a dump file, but it keeps coming empty.
The error/crash occurs only during games, some more frequent than others. I have tried all possible options for those games, low to high settings/resolutions/etc, no background programs running - no difference.
Some days, the error/crash occurs more rarely when unplugged and running on battery(which don't last more than an hour), and once I plug it in to charge it, it starts crashing in a few minutes.
It is also running Windows 7 64-bit, upgraded from the stock Vista(where the error/crash also kept occuring).
The laptop is a Dell Studio 1555(the widescreen version). I took it to one of Dell's shop for them to "fix it", tho after running all their stress tests they told me there is nothing wrong with the computer. So 7 completely different games crash the computer, but Dell's stress tests fail to identify what is wrong with it?
I have a Lenovo G510 and Windows 8.1. I can´t use keyboard and mouse at the same time. When i typing the mousepad locks. I guess this is a feature but I wan´t it turned off but I don´t know how to do that.
I have tested with the drivers for Windows 8.1 and Windows 8, listed here: [URL] ....
I then even tried with installing the driver for Windows 8 from: [URL] ....
But when I got through the installation process the "installation program" says the driver couldn´t be installed.
I tried with the advice in this thread: [URL] ....
but I have synaptics 7.5 and not 7.4. I also tried fixing with the register but didn´t find the entry PalmKms. I did do find other entries with Palm.
I see this as a major problem since it makes me completely unable to use any program that require simultaneously use of the keyboard and mouse. Therefore I guess that must be a solution for this?
Just to clarify the subject, the right click that takes a long time to show up is when it's done on the desktop or when you right-click in a windows explorer folder, blank area witnothing selected (like to create a new folder or something). When you right-click, it shows the blue circular thing to sow it's tinking about it, it's loading and takes about 8 seconds to pop up after the click. Right-clicking on selected files, folders or in any other software, pops up instantly without issue.
It's a brand new Y40 laptop running windows 8.1. i7-4520U (2.00Ghz 1600MHz 4MB), AMD Radeon R9 M275 2GB, 8GB Ram, 1TB 5400 RPM,
I've updated the Radeon drivers with no improvement. It works perfectly in safe mode,
I got my Ideapad y410p a week ago. It came with Windows 8 and many useless softwares installed. It was taking around 3 minutes of time and immediately i updated my os to 8.1 (x64). Even after updating to 8.1, the boot time didn't get any better. I unistalled useless softwares like Mcafee, Cyberlink tools and many and installed AntiVir and Visual Studio. Turn on Fast startup is also enabled. But what is painful is it still takes 2 minutes and 31 seconds plus to load my desktop. What is more painful to me is My old laptop (Amd Dual Core, 3GB Ram with Many softwares installed with windows 7) loads earlier than this.
My problem:I can't type and move my mouse (trackpad, touchpad, whatever) at the same time. This means i have to use a USB mouse to play most video games.
I have had my lenovo Z510 for about 3 weeks now, and I am running into a problem where I cannot use my keyboard keys and use my touchpad at the same time, which makes it difficult to play games. I have gone into the settings and went to mouse and touchpad and selected always on, but that didnt seem to do much, maybe i need to increase the active area of my touchpad, but I dont think windows 8.1 comes with any such tools and I dont think Lenovo pre installed anything...
my x230's fan is most of the time running full speed, and returns to regular (almost no noise level) for only a few minutes.I just got this x230 for less than a month and i notice this since most of my colleagues' laptops are all the time quiet compared to mine, which is a lot newer than theirs.Later on I will try the Full HW scan & see how it goes.
Before installing Realtek HD Audio Driver in control panel > sound > playback windows show headphone jack but red led in headphone jack is on and I have only speaker sound when I put headphone in jack don't recognize it .
After installing Realtek HD Audio Driver in playback device only show Speakers and I have Sound in speaker and headphone at the same time together.
1. tested in windows 7 , windows 8 , windows 8.1 64bit 2. tested with last driver from Realtalk and Lenovo driver download (and also orginal driver) 3. tested with 5 headphone 4. realtalk control panel don't show headphone that in jack (but after driver install headphone and speaker work at same time !!!!) 5. I am checked to show disable device in playback sound window.
I am Thinking problem is :
1. Drivers that is in the Lenovo site have problem and should be updated because after I install driver it recognize the headphone but cannot stop the speaker at this time
