i recently upgraded my g500 from windows 8 to windows to 8.1. But ever since then, my mouse does not work and the keyboard only works after standby. I tried to restore to factory defaults but that hasnt worked.

I mean the F-function do work with fn, but when I just click F4 it should close the programe, or F7 it should go to airmode, or f9 with should close just the monitor. But these things do not happen. I really love theme and made my life easier.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a G500 windows 8 system, and my windows I dont know what happened but when I start it, it shows the windows logo and then a blank screen appears with the cursor, the cursor does move along the touchpad, but the windows does not show anything else on the screen. So, the windows neither starts nor (I am guessing as cursor moves) hangs.
I thought of reinstalling or repairing the windows from a windows 8 disc, but cant get into the boot menu.
I purchased a Lenovo G500 and I am wandering why do they not package a CD/DVD for the Windows 8 OS. I am thinking on downgrade it to Win7, but I am finding problems with GPT partitions.
I could erase all partitions and reformat it, but then I would loose the recovery partition and all possibility of reinstall Win8.

I have tried multiple browsers to see if that is the issue and it has not made a difference. I am running Windows 8.0, 64 bit operating system if that makes a difference. This laptop is not even a year old.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo, Lenovo thinks my hard drive was failing on my G500. They send me a hard drive and 4 Lenovo recovery discs. I install everything properly and I get a Windows activation error.
I call Lenovo and they verify the O/S and the hard drive are properly installed. However, they tell me they cannot give me a license key and I must ship my laptop back to Lenovo so they can install a license key. Does this make sense?
The windows activation error code is 0xC004C003.
Now, what was interesting is when the rep took remote control of my machine, I saw it was registered under my son's email address and not mine (I entered mine when I did the login after the reinstall) and how/why it shows my son's address.
Laptop just arrived! However, my N key doesn't work 4 out of 5 times. I have slowed my typing down so I can verify I am pressing the key firmly enough and I am. I have to press it multiple times for it to finally type the letter N.

Then formated and installed Win7 Pro 64bit. i managed to get everything else in working order except i would like to occasionally turn off the touchpad. i use a mouse for games and such and the hot key doesnt work to turn it off. BTW every other hot key does what its intended to do.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 12 updates showing as needing to be installed in my windows update to go onto my new lenovo G500 but every time I try and install them I get the error message 80242006. I have googled it and tried the suggestions with no luck although I have yet to spot one that is for windows 8.1 which I have upgraded this laptop to.
The missing updates are KB's 2987107 ,2968296, 2972103, 2979573, 2978041, 2979576, 2977292, 3000061, 3000869, 2989542, 2998174 and 3000988.
Could the problem be because I have upgraded the laptop to windows 8.1 from 8?
Overnight, my Z470's wifi stopped work. The switch nor FN seems to turn the wifi on again, but I dont think the device is damaged or something. I tried everything I could.
1) Update driver / Uninstall and update driver / delete and update driver
2) Try to work on WLAN in services.msc but I couldn't find it in there
3) Some people says that could be the power management, I'm still trying to find the compatible version.
So, what else can I do? I don't wanna to format my machine!

I have a new U530 I just bought. I need windows 7, so I did a downgrade. I downloaded all the Win7 drivers, and managed to make everything happy except no Wifi. The Win7 drivers on the support site don't have the the hardware ID for this wifi card. In windows 8 it shows Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter, with PCVEN)14E4&DEV_43B1&SUBSYS_062E17AA&REV_03, which does not show up in the .inf file for the drivers that install from the wl05w7.exe driver file. Also the setup quits without graceful finish, even if I right click and do run as administrator.
I purchased two of these laptops, but one needs to work with Win 7. I'm willing to switch out the wifi card if you have something that works with Win 7.
I migrated win 8.1 to the ssd on my wd black2 (128ssd + 1tb hdd). It also took the first two partitions shown. I then activated the 1tb drive and copied the next two paritions to the SSD in the same sequence and size as original drive.
Then I copied the other remaining paritions to the END of my 1tb hdd. So all partitions are there same sizes same sequences as before execpt for the hdd in the middle. See screenshot.
One key makes a backup to the 1tb hdd which is what I wanted so as to save space on the SSD. But the novo button does not work which makes it useless. How can I fix this?
I know theres lots of threads on this but this is specific to having the partitions split on the ssd and the hdd.
Drive 0 is the ssd/hdd drive 1 is the original drive ( that okr worked on) its a y510p

I have also already tried turning off and on again the "turn off mouse pad" button that the computer has. And it's only sometimes when I boot up the computer it won't responed, then I have to turn it off and turn it back on again in order for it to work.

I've been trying to boot Driveimage from CD to do an offline backup, and guess what, it wouldnt recognise the CD as bootable. Fixed that by setting the boot type to "Legacy" in the BIOS and it boots fine.
My problem is that the mouse doesnt work after booting from the CD. Watching the behaviour of the mouse, it powers up when I press the power button, but powers off immediately the POST completes.
If booting Windows from the HD, power to USB is restored as soon as windows loads to the lock screen.
The cursor doesn't even display on screen unless I connect a mouse.
It was working fine then suddenly the problem started. I tried FN + F6 but no point

I entered device manager >> view by connection type, and I found "Lenovo Pointing Device" with a yellow triangle on it. I uninstalled it and it disappeared forever............. But the problem is still there. It's as if the entire touchpad cable isn't even connected to the motherboard.................

The file must be edited as an administrator in Vista and Windows 7. To do this, at the programs box type in notepad and on the notpad program in the menu right click and select, "Run as Administrator."

I updated my Thinkpad with windows 8.1. But the wifi driver doesn't work correctly. After the installation the device was diasabled with code 10. I searched for a new driver and found one from Realtek for win 8. After this installation and the reboot, the wifi works fine. Restarting the notebook again, the device was disabled again. I tried a lot of different drivers - it's always the same: After the first installation and reboot it works, after the second boot, the device is disabled again.

I need to use the digitizer with OneNote 2013 heavily for taking lecture notes.
As I did when I was using Windows7, I set the side button on the digitizer to "eraser" and expect that it works properly.
Unfortunately, when I tried to press the button to switch the tip from the pen mode to the eraser mode, the behavior
of the digitizer becomes pretty strange.
(1) If I remain the tip close to the screen, it would not switch to the eraser mode
(2) if I move the tip a little higher and let the cursor disappear, then hold the button and move the tip back to the screen, I SOMETIMES get the eraser mode; but it doesn't switch back to the pen mode even if I release the button.
I need to again move the tip far away from the screen and release the button to get the pen mode back.
I downloaded the up-to-date driver from Wacom but it doesn't work.
Also, I cannot find the driver for this functionality for Windows 8.1 on Lenovo website;the latest version of multitouch driver only supports Windows 7 and older versions of windows.
I bought this laptop G500 Lenovo 4 months ago and I am satisfy but unfortunately I found out still it have defects my problem is my cd/dvd rom I got un annoying noisy sound inside when I put a cd on it I guess it will give me problem sooner and now it happens it won't read anymore. I try to search for answers maybe it only a software issue but doesn't work any trial. Uninstall driver and bring it back don't work still there is the annoying sound and not reading. I guess a mechanical failure in its cd alignment that it is spinning but the head is keep on adjusting which creating the noisy sound means it was not align to read the CD.

It is supposed to have 8GB of ssd for caching but I cant see it either in the bios or in the disk managment. I tried to make it work with Intel Rapid Store technology, where I see only the main hard disk, and it also needs to make it RAID instead of AHCI so I thought that changinh that in the bios would solve the problem, but there is no such option, only AHCI and "compatible". I have some Bose bluetooth speakers I'd like to connect, but everytime I do so something goes wrong:the connection takes extremely longthe pc settings tell me there is a driver issue and the speakers do not connect at all my browser (google chrome) crashes/freezes and only unfreezes when I turn off Bluetoothafter a few minutes, the sound coming from the speakers is 'chopped up' like a bad phone connectionI've searched everywhere for a solution, but have not had any success so far. The device I believe causing the problem is Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0 + HS, for which I think I don't have a proper driver installed, but the system itself says it's the most recent one when I let it search for updates automatically. I can't find a more recent one myself as well.
