Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: IdeaPad P400 - Reverse Function (Fn) Keys
Feb 24, 2013I recently purchased an Ideapad P400, and I have noticed that the default for the keys where F1 and F2, etc. usually are, are now the mute and volume buttons. To access the F1, F2....F12 keys, you now have to press Fn + your desired F key.
While I understand many people probably find this useful, I play several games where these keys are essential, and it makes playing the games nearly impossible to play if you have to hold down the Fn key in addition to the desired F key. So my question is, is it possible to reverse the Function keys? I would much rather press Fn + F1 to mute than have to press press Fn + F1 to access F1.
Lenovo P400 P/Y/Z Series :: Touch Screen Brightness Won't Adjust
Apr 13, 2013I used my brightness down button once and now it won't go back up. I can't adjust the settings at all, despite the graphic on the screen showing me the meter going up and down. I've checked all drivers, tried uninstalling and reinstalling lenovo energy management, and I've still got nothing. I've stopped short of a factory reset because that's super annoying having set everything up and then a couple weeks after purchase have to do it again.

Every other key on the board is fine, except for this one. Is there any easy to fix to this problem, or do I need to send the entire computer back?

Dec 27, 2013I have a P400 Touch that was purchased just a few months ago (February I believe) and it's been great so far. This past month, however, I haven't used it (until now) and noticed that my battery icon is stuck on "36% available (plugged in, charging)" but the thing is it's not charging whatsoever. What's worse is that if/when I pull the adapter from the laptop, it cuts off completely. The battery indicator light is steady white when the adapter is plugged in as well.

Not like where it says "plugged in, not charging" but the battery isn't getting any power, when I plug my charger into the port on the side I noticed that the battery light that normally . I took it apart and I checked where you plug it in because I found that this is a common problem with laptops, but it's fine.

Sep 29, 2013I've had my IdeaPad Notebook P500 for over a year, and rarely had an issue with it. Today, I accidently touched the F11 key, which happens to be the "Brightness minus" key.
Immediately, the screen went very dim, to the point where it actually hurts my eyes to be typing this.
I can adjust the brightness sliders up and down on the screen, using both the F11/F12 keys and the slider box available from the "Brightness" selection under "Settings". Even though the sliders go up and down, the screen stays the same very dark level.
Windows 8 64-bit is my OS.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the Intel HD driver.
I have shut down the laptop and turned it back on while holding the F12 (Brightness plus) button. It was useless, though.
I have rebooted several times.

Jul 25, 2014I just got my new Z710 today, and if the screen tilts too far back (not excessively far, maybe a few degrees past 90), the screen will turn black. If I leave the screen in this position, the keyboard lights will turn off too. Once I tilt the screen forward and click or hit a key, I'm greeted by the lock screen, and have to enter my password again.

Jan 27, 2013I got an ideapad y560 0646 with i7 and radeon 5730 without switchable graphics. After starting, the windows logo appears and afterwards just a black screen. No windows logon. Starting with standard vga drivers is possible. I am currently running windows 7 prof 64 bit. I remember that i installed windows 7 prof 32 bit in november 2011 and after installing the graphic drivers from lenovo homepage i faced the same issue.
So I continued using windows 7 64 bit. i think there was a windows update which caused the issues for windows 7 64 bit. I installed the latest drivers but this didnt work. i think this is no hardware issue because ubuntu is running fine. i would like to try the old drivers which came with the y560 on cd. unfortunately i cant find the cd.
Does some have the old driver cd and could upload the drivers or name the file of the driver so i can download it from the web?

Nov 1, 2013I have bought ideapad y510p with an already pre installed windows 8 and intel vga card. however, i have found out that the nvidia geforce GT 750M is not installed, so i have downloaded the driver with the latest version R331.65 So, normally i have installed the driver. and now even though that i have the latest drivers i wonder why i still have the 1366x768 as the highest resolution and not the 1920x1080. also to my wonder is why when i connect to the monitor it can have the 1920x1080 and not on the laptop screen.
So How to have the 1920x1080 resolution?

Mar 22, 2014I just bought my laptop today, it has a i7-4500 processor with windows 8.1... While i was installing norton the screen turned blue but it was ok after a few minutes. But the screen turned blue again, and my task manager stopped responsing. It returned to normal after i re-signed in. Now it just turns blue for a few seconds occasionally and goes back to my desktop screen with all my shortcuts moved to the centre and my background removed.
I am not sure if this is normal, haven't used windows 8 before.

I searched around for other people having the same problem and the one solution I got was to change Hkey_Local_MachineSoftwareWidcommBTConfigGeneral KeyIndication to 0, but that's already set to 0 for me, and I'm still getting notifications. The solution with removing "lockkey.exe" is not working as well. I just don't have program like this.

May 6, 2014I just got couple of days old Lenovo IdeaPad z50-75, running on AMD FX-7500.First I jsut now noticed that my CPU runs at 1.07 Ghz, before it was always over 2 Ghz or so which was good ... but maybe I touched something some where in powr settings or something and now it stays on 1.07 even when cpu pretty much utilised. I have set power plan to high performance and also Energy manager is set to high performance mode and Conservation mode is on. why it doesn't clock itself up ? I feel that it is slower than before.

Nov 11, 2014Whenever I try to install the ELAN/Synaptics driver that I download from my laptop's support page I get an error saying: no Appropriate Driver to be installed.I'm on Windows 7 64bit...I've tried tons of drivers and I'm starting to get seriously annoyed. Non of them work all of them throw error messages and I'm getting more and more irritated with the obnoxious tap to click functionality. I don't even need the driver as I need the annoying tap to click disabled and maybe some kind of scrolling functionality would be nice if it's possible.

Apr 4, 2014I recently recieved a y410p ideapad I ordered off the lenova website. However, it won't start up. When I try, it brings me to a blue screen with a sad face that says I need to do an automatic repair. This flashes for about two seconds before disappearing and the screen becomes grey and says "lenovo" and "Starting Automatic Repair". From this the screen goes completly grey, and has nothing on it. The computer stays this way for hours and the fan will continue to run. I've tried the reset button on the side and resetting the laptop, but no matter what I do I end up back at that grey screen.

Jan 2, 2015I purchased this Ideapad Z50-70 laptop two days back. It was DOS based so I had to install Windows 8.1 OS myself. After installing the OS, I installed all the drivers for this laptop.
The display of the laptop is set to Full HD resolution i.e. 1920*1080. However, it doesn't look as sharp and crips as a normal HD display should be. The text and other things looks blurred. Also, the contrast of the screen doesn't seem well. Though the resolution is set to Full HD, I'm not feeling the quality smoothness and sharpness of the full HD display.

Feb 11, 2014I bought the Lenovo Ideapad Z500 and I'm trying to boot from a USB drive in order to install Windows on it. When I start the boot menu I only see the hard-drive, the DVD and the network. I tried to set both UEFI mode and Legacy mode in BIOS but the USB stick does not appear in the menu when I boot. I put the image of windows with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool which formats the stick in NTFS mode.
I have the latest BIOS v1.21 and I tried with 2 different USB sticks: one 16GB USB 2.0 Corsair and with a 32GB USB 3.0 ADATA both on USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the notebook. I really haven't seen anything like this in my entire career.
I even downloaded the file efiootBOOTX64.efi and replaced the one that Windows come with on the specified folder on the USB stick ....
Why is so difficult to choose the USB boot drive on the newer notebooks? How can I boot from USB?

Feb 5, 2014Just got the y510p laptop and am trying to install Ubuntu so I have this bootable DVD and I wanted to try Ubuntu before installing as usual but I can't get the laptop to bot on dvd. On boot menu options there is only EFI and some kind of network options but no dvd. I tried following instructions here but no matter how many times I press F1 during startup, I can't get to boot menu and windows starts directly: [URL] Is it not possible to boot on dvd. The dvd is ubuntu 13.10 supposedly compatible with EFI and secure boot. I don't understand why there is no option to reorder boot devices like on all my older PCs.
I manage to get BIOS setup pressing restart and shift and then selecting UEFI firware settings and I do get to bios setups but again no way to find the option for booting on a dvd.

Mar 15, 2014I bought a y510p ideapad from newegg a couple days ago and recently got it. i've been trying to set it up and all that, trying to get rid of the programs that came preloaded with the laptop because I wouldn't think i'd need them. I then shut it, put it down and opened it again and now it won't turn on. It seems like both the power indicator and the battery indicator light are both on, as well as the power button light, but the monitor itself is blank and i can't hear the computer being on. I've tried holding down the power button and resetting it, as well as removing the battery and using only the AC to see if it would turn on but to no avail. I'm worried i might have deleted something important, but I was mostly deleting programs related to shoddy media players and other services of the like. It's pretty upsetting I just got this laptop and it's already died on me!
