I have a new z500 that I've downgraded to Windows 7 64bit. For the most part I have everything working. I accidentally hit the brightness + (yes, +) and it instantly dimmed the screen to where it is barely viewable. It seems that hitting that one key decreased the brightness to the minimum amount. I've rebooted, looked for a setting in the BIOS, hit the Brightness +/- and can't increase the brightness. It is interesting because the other hot keys work correctly. I've even upped the brightness in the Control Panel, but nothing seems to work. The screen is extremely dim whenever the machine is powered on (including the BIOS), not just in Windows. I tried a lot of intel chipset drivers, the available Intel HD 4000 drivers in Win8 and win7 too, but nothing working. How to up the brightness?

I just got couple of days old Lenovo IdeaPad z50-75, running on AMD FX-7500.First I jsut now noticed that my CPU runs at 1.07 Ghz, before it was always over 2 Ghz or so which was good ... but maybe I touched something some where in powr settings or something and now it stays on 1.07 even when cpu pretty much utilised. I have set power plan to high performance and also Energy manager is set to high performance mode and Conservation mode is on. why it doesn't clock itself up ? I feel that it is slower than before.

In a few days I'll get my IdeaPad U310, and since it comes with 4GB DDR RAM, I'd like to do a upgrade to 8 GB. I understand it only has one slot for RAM, so I'll buy one stick of course, but I don't know if it's the same size as used in a desktop PC, or is it some mini-sized RAM stick?
I also need to know the voltage of it, is it 1.5V or different?

Whenever I try to install the ELAN/Synaptics driver that I download from my laptop's support page I get an error saying: no Appropriate Driver to be installed.I'm on Windows 7 64bit...I've tried tons of drivers and I'm starting to get seriously annoyed. Non of them work all of them throw error messages and I'm getting more and more irritated with the obnoxious tap to click functionality. I don't even need the driver as I need the annoying tap to click disabled and maybe some kind of scrolling functionality would be nice if it's possible.

I recently recieved a y410p ideapad I ordered off the lenova website. However, it won't start up. When I try, it brings me to a blue screen with a sad face that says I need to do an automatic repair. This flashes for about two seconds before disappearing and the screen becomes grey and says "lenovo" and "Starting Automatic Repair". From this the screen goes completly grey, and has nothing on it. The computer stays this way for hours and the fan will continue to run. I've tried the reset button on the side and resetting the laptop, but no matter what I do I end up back at that grey screen.

I purchased this Ideapad Z50-70 laptop two days back. It was DOS based so I had to install Windows 8.1 OS myself. After installing the OS, I installed all the drivers for this laptop.
The display of the laptop is set to Full HD resolution i.e. 1920*1080. However, it doesn't look as sharp and crips as a normal HD display should be. The text and other things looks blurred. Also, the contrast of the screen doesn't seem well. Though the resolution is set to Full HD, I'm not feeling the quality smoothness and sharpness of the full HD display.

I bought the Lenovo Ideapad Z500 and I'm trying to boot from a USB drive in order to install Windows on it. When I start the boot menu I only see the hard-drive, the DVD and the network. I tried to set both UEFI mode and Legacy mode in BIOS but the USB stick does not appear in the menu when I boot. I put the image of windows with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool which formats the stick in NTFS mode.
I have the latest BIOS v1.21 and I tried with 2 different USB sticks: one 16GB USB 2.0 Corsair and with a 32GB USB 3.0 ADATA both on USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the notebook. I really haven't seen anything like this in my entire career.
I even downloaded the file efiootBOOTX64.efi and replaced the one that Windows come with on the specified folder on the USB stick ....
Why is so difficult to choose the USB boot drive on the newer notebooks? How can I boot from USB?

I've had my IdeaPad Notebook P500 for over a year, and rarely had an issue with it. Today, I accidently touched the F11 key, which happens to be the "Brightness minus" key.
Immediately, the screen went very dim, to the point where it actually hurts my eyes to be typing this.
I can adjust the brightness sliders up and down on the screen, using both the F11/F12 keys and the slider box available from the "Brightness" selection under "Settings". Even though the sliders go up and down, the screen stays the same very dark level.
Windows 8 64-bit is my OS.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the Intel HD driver.
I have shut down the laptop and turned it back on while holding the F12 (Brightness plus) button. It was useless, though.
I have rebooted several times.

Just got the y510p laptop and am trying to install Ubuntu so I have this bootable DVD and I wanted to try Ubuntu before installing as usual but I can't get the laptop to bot on dvd. On boot menu options there is only EFI and some kind of network options but no dvd. I tried following instructions here but no matter how many times I press F1 during startup, I can't get to boot menu and windows starts directly: [URL] Is it not possible to boot on dvd. The dvd is ubuntu 13.10 supposedly compatible with EFI and secure boot. I don't understand why there is no option to reorder boot devices like on all my older PCs.
I manage to get BIOS setup pressing restart and shift and then selecting UEFI firware settings and I do get to bios setups but again no way to find the option for booting on a dvd.

I bought a y510p ideapad from newegg a couple days ago and recently got it. i've been trying to set it up and all that, trying to get rid of the programs that came preloaded with the laptop because I wouldn't think i'd need them. I then shut it, put it down and opened it again and now it won't turn on. It seems like both the power indicator and the battery indicator light are both on, as well as the power button light, but the monitor itself is blank and i can't hear the computer being on. I've tried holding down the power button and resetting it, as well as removing the battery and using only the AC to see if it would turn on but to no avail. I'm worried i might have deleted something important, but I was mostly deleting programs related to shoddy media players and other services of the like. It's pretty upsetting I just got this laptop and it's already died on me!

I bought my y510p brand new from Lenovo about 11 months ago. About 2 days ago, my fan suddenly started making a very loud buzzing/grinding noise. Prior to this, it was perfectly quiet. The fan makes this noise inconsistently, and at this point, leaving it on a flat surface keeps it quiet. However, any tilting or jostling of the laptop makes the fan start buzzing again. I have noticed that running the dust removal utility will stop the fan from buzzing, and this seems to be the only way to return it to producing a regular sound after it has started.
I really don't think my fan needs to be replaced, but I am unsure what is causing this problem. I have never dropped my laptop--and its spent almost its entire life on my desk. The only thing that's changed is I moved it after it had remained in the same spot for several weeks--because I am currently traveling.
The inconsistency of the noise and the newness of my computer tends to make me think the fan hasn't worn out yet.

Recently I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad Z510, model name 20287, MO: YB03120328. According to the specification from my reseller (Dutch webshop [URL] and the Lenovo box it was shipped in, this laptop should have a 1000GB hard disk + 8 GB solid state memory (SSD) for caching. My problem is that I am not sure if the 8 GB SSD is working.
The SSD does not show as a drive in "My Computer", it does not show in Window's Disk Management utility (see Figure 1), Intel's Rapid Storage Technology does not show the possibility of using the SSD to accelerate performance (see Figure 2) and when running ExpressCache (with the command "eccmd.exe -info") the program tells me "HFS Volume is not mounted" and "ECCmd exited with error 0x10df (4319)".
All these clues lead me to believe that in fact no 8 GB SSD is installed, or if it is, that it is not working properly. Any additional ways of testing I could use to confirm it is or is not working?

The first week my Y510p worked perfectly, I had a little trouble to install linux but I finally got it. Then, suddenly the laptop stop working. I restarted the laptop and it didn't want to start again... I got a completely black screen, I know it is on because of the keyboard backlight. The screen is completely black, there is no way to get into the recovery menu or BIOS setup. I expend 1 hour last week with lenovo support trying to get it into de BIOS or recovery menu in all possible ways and nothing works. What can I do?

I'm trying to Install Debian GNU/Linux on my Windows 8 Ideapad Z710, and I can't even get my laptop to boot from external media. From the InsydeH20 Setup Utility, I've so far disabled Secure Boot, set Boot Mode to UEFI, enabled USB Boot, enabled PXE Boot to LAN, and set my EFI boot order to 1) EFI Network 0 for IPv4, 2) EFI Network 0 for IPv6, then 3) Windows Boot Manager (no other options). I'm not actually trying to boot from a network, I just want to boot from the onboard DVD drive or my USB DVD drive. When I boot with these settings, I get the error: EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (...) boot failed, then a similar one for IPv6, then it boots to Windows. Why can't I boot from DVD or USB?
Another thing I've tried is setting Boot Mode to Legacy Support and Boot Priority to Legacy First (with Secure Boot disabled) which results in my laptop booting to straight to Windows even when USB ODD is first in the boot order.

So in the past couple of days I've noticed that my Y570 isn't charging properly.
With normal use such as internet browsing, facebook, e-mail, etc. there is no problem. However I often use my computer to game stuff like Don't Starve, League, CSGO, etc. So I'm thinking the problems is something to due with heat.

About a year ago I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 with Windows 8 preinstalled. My question is this:
I want to upgrade my hardware by replacing my current hard disk with an Solid State Disk. The problem is that in windows 8 there is not any program except the OneKey Recovery which obviously it isn't a Microsoft's official recovery application (such as the one in Windows 7). If I create a disk with OneKey then is there any way to use it to install windows 8 on the new SSD disk? How the pc is gonna recognize a backup disk created by an application which is not installed on it?

I had sent in a ticket to blizz with DxDiog and the MsInfo and they cound out there was some errors in some applications and is now fixed c: I simply just did a facotry recovery since honestly i just have steam, wow and a drawing program installed so it was nothing huge lose whne i did it. So everything is working just fine right now ! I did try the one with truing off anti aliasing and it did work as well even if my frame rate is back to it's 90+ it jumped up to 100+
So it started last saturday that my frame rate dropped drastically from 90+ to 15- on World Of Warcraft. I followed the steps that i got told with updating drivers and such, but still low and un-playable.
It's really strange and all, i bought this laptop for like 1 month ago and had no problems until now. There was a windows update (i use win 8.1) last week that first messed with my latency at first, but then my FPS.
When i play on steam per say Assasians creed and Portal i have no problem but it seems to only be on WoW.

Lenovo U410 comes with 24 GB SSD and 500 GB HDD. Lenovo claims that they use some express cache to get faster speed during bootup and opening apps.
Lenovo recommends clean install of ideapad system while upgrading to windows 8.
link:
My problem: As I am doing clean install , I want to delete LENOVO partition. The technical support guy also told me in phone that I can delete the partition and create my own.
But how will I use ssd and hdd? In my laptop, the windows OS was installed in 500 GB hdd and 24 GB ssd was used for some "express cache" .
But if I delete all the partition, how will I configure such that 24 gb ssd is used? Because lenovo does not provide any software named "express cache" in their site.
BUT they provide "Intel Rapid start, Intel rapid storage"
So does these rapid start and storage use 24 GB ssd aand improve my boot time?
Lenovo Ideapad U410,Ruby Red Color
i5 processor,4 GB ram,1 GB nvidia 610M GPU,24GB SSD,500GB HDD.
