Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: Y510P - Virtualization Not Enabled Even After Enabling In Bios
Jul 7, 2014
I have enabled Virtualization through BIOS after updating it to v3 still the intel utility doesnt show virtualization is enabled:
Steps I have taken:
1.Disabled Virtualization in BIOS
Result: Speccy and hwinfo64, 3rd party utilities show VT-x is available but disabled
2.Enabled Virtualization in BIOS
Result: Speccy and hwinfo64, 3rd Party utilities show VT-x is not available
3. Repeated above steps after updating BIOS
Result: Same problems

Currently I have twice the nVidia gt 755m, working on SLI. Though a lot of games I play are incompatible with SLI and will heat op my laptop with bad performace. I could turn off my SLI option to have some normal fps again, but since skype and my mouse driver needs to be turned off everytime I want to turn on or off SLI it is not really my favorite option.
When you have twice the nvidia, the bios will automatically turn off the intel hd graphics. I would like to know if there is a possibility to turn on the intel hd graphics, then I could run my desktop + the programs that need to be turned of for the switching on the intel hd. I hope this would be possible to enable and that there will be no power issues when turning it on (3 graphic cards will take some power).
I bought my new lap top about 1 month now and im seem unable to find the option for enabling/disabling the virtualization technology in my lap top thru bios settings, i really need to enable it for running the VMware for my studies needs. my lap top specification is:
HP Pavilion dv6-6007tx Entertainment Notebook PC Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz 8 GB RAM Radeon (TM) HD 6770M System BIOS F.06 Windows 7 professional 64 bits
I've tried to set up a 64bit guest operating system in VMWare and in VirtualBox, but have been unable to. I understand that the problem might be that VT-x is not enabled in the BIOS. However, on booting up my G780 and using F2 to edit the settings I don't see anything related to VT.
I want to run a Virtual PC . After googling I got some instruction. Some of the people suggest to change in bios. They suggested go to Bios-> Security -> System Security -> Enable virtual. But when I tried that. I didn't find the system security under Security. what should I do? How can I enable virtualization in my pc?
I have a W530, with i7 and 16G standard setup. I want to enable HV-X and found they are marked as Disabled, and gray-out in BIOS, also date is gray-out also.
i7 must support virtualizaion, while time setting is gray-out, I think this is either a security issue or a BIOS bug, but I had same problem with 2013 Feb BIOS, and also update to 2014 latest BIOS, same problem here.
I'm looking at picking up an AS1810T to replace my Samsung NC10 netbook and my HP DV8230US laptop.
I was looking at an MSI earlier due to its better warranty (3 years) and better price ($450 as opposed to $600)...but unfortunately, the lack of VT on the T6600 is a deal-breaker.
Does Acer have Virtualization enabled on the AS1810T? The SU7300 has it, but I want to make sure that there's nothing else that would prevent me from being able to use the laptop properly...as VMWare and XP Mode are requirements for what I'll be doing with it.
I recently bought a lenovo Y510P and did a clean windows 7 64-bit installation. Yesterday I reset my BIOS Setting to the default settings and now it doesnt reconise any of my hard drives or usbs anymore. The only thing I can boot from are (I think) the network cards?..
I mostly use a mouse and I am getting annoying mouse pointer jumps when I inadvertantly touch the touchpad while typing. It seems like just pressure on the area outside of the touchpad is enough to make the pointer jump. I would like the touchpad to be disabled when a mouse is present on the system and be enabed when no mouse is present. I would not want to be caught having to find my way to the Control Panel using keystrokes. It does not seem like this is possible so I am hoping that Lenovo is monitoring these posts.
I have a problem changing my BIOS settings after installing win8.1 and enabling bitlocker. I wanted to reformat the partition it was on, so I wiped it with gparted and now all settings in bios are greyed out and I cannot change anything. What can I do to be able to edit my BIOS?
I also have linux installed on my computer if I could do anything from there.
Initially configuration was easy (through available connections)and i could use net at ease. Bue couple of days I happened to "Disable" two network which used to connect automatically the moment i used to turn my laptop ON.But after that, I never saw them in the available connection. Although i can see those network available on my phone, but on laptop i unable to detect them. I tried configuring them by using "wireless network connection properties" and i could even chnage their preference too. I tried disabling/enabling wireless network, but its not working at all.But at the same time I can see coupls of other wireless network which are in range, but i can not connect to any of those as they dont belong to my hotel.
i have lenovo G510.i have enabled the Intel Virtual Technology is enabled from BIOS but when i installled Intel Processor Identification Utility shows Status as NO instead of YES. I have upgrades the BIOS 3.09 latest one so far but still same problem
Looking at fitting an SSD which needs AHCI. So I looked on microsoft and saw registry edit which I've done. Then I changed to AHCI in BIOS and get BSOD so set it back. Also I see that there are problems with Smsung Pro, does any problems with Samsung evo ? Why mSATA is not recommended for boot disk and only for cache ?
I have a new X230 which came with Intel WiDi installed. I am trying to connect it to a Philips Smart TV which the folks at Philips tell me should work with WiDi. The TV is Miracast enabled.
When I run the Intel WiDi software, the Philips TV appears as an available device. When I click to connect, the software asks for a PIN number and at the same time a PIN number appears on the TV screen. I enter this in the box provided by the software. There is a pause of 15 - 45 seconds, and then there is a message on the TV : "Step 2/2. Connected. Starting playback." This is quickly replaced by a message on the TV "Failed to playback". The WiDi software remains at the "Connecting..." screen.
I feel I am pretty close to getting this to work, but not sure what to do to actually succeed.
I have already updated the WiDi software and drivers to the latest available on the Lenovo site:
My lenovo Y510P used to always be at 100% but I have realized it has been decreasing by 1 every day. I have it on Maximum Battery Life with the Energy Management application.
It is currently at 85% and I would have posted this sooner if I had payed attention. I changed it to Optimized Battery Health and it is now dropping, currently at 75%.
I always leave the laptop plugged in because I usually play games on it such as battlefield, dayZ, counter strike, etc.
I've been playing Battlefield 3 for some time on Auto settings (most of them are Ultra) and my FPS were always in the range 65-85. Yesterday morning everything was fine, however at night when I opened the game again I had 10-15 FPS. I haven't changed anything in my laptop settings so I don't know why this is happening.
P.S: I only have 1 GPU (not the SLI version) so I know it's not a loss of power. But my battery settings are set to "Optimized battery health". Does it affect performance ?
I've got Y510p with USB 2.0 not working. By the time it malfunctioned it was under warranty and I sent it in the service center. They have claimed that it has been repaired (USB board has been changed) but it is still not working and my warranty ended like 3 days after I sent it back. Since then (1 month ago) I am returning it to the service center for 3 times (last one was today) and I feel they can't fix it. URL....
I bought Lenovo Y510P . and because of just hyper-v feature on win 8.1 pro also i need to upgrade windows. I found product key with a software and after that i open the "add feature to windows 8.1" . And when I choose "i already have product key" and put the product key , it does not accept . and says "this key won't work" .
So what i should do for getting windows 8.1 pro pack ? and why product key does not work ?
When I recieved my Y510p about 8 months ago, the usb ports worked perfectly fine. Around October they stopped working properly. The only solution which I found to work was doing a system restore. When I did this, an Unrecognized Device in the Device Manager was no longer unrecognized, and was instead replaced by USB xHCL (or something along those lines). However, as soon as i restared my computer again, the ports broke, and the unrecognized device reappeared. Repeating the restore followed by a restart breaks the ports every time.
My Y510p has been freezing on startup, every startup. It can be completely inoperable for upwards of half an hour before unfreezing. It unfortunately has been occuring since the computer arrived (21 March, this year), so I doubt it has been caused by any software I've added. Given my limited knowledge of computers.
Lenovo Y510p Model 20217 Windows 8(64 bit), Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU (2.40 GHz), NVIDIA GeForce GT750M, 8GB RAM
I have a new y510p I just received this week. First thing I did was replace the 1TB HD with my own OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SSD Drive. When I power on the laptop for the first time, it does not find a bootable device (goes through network devices, then says no bootable devices). If I use ctrl-alt-delete to reboot the laptop, it then finds the drive on its own and starts booting into Windows.
I'd like to understand why this does not work on the first boot? I went into the BIOS and saw it says there that no drives are detected. This worries me slightly, as perhaps one day it will decide to no longer recognize the drive after the ctrl-alt-delete?
On my Y510p I am getting low memory warnings wether im playing a game or just idling or on youtbe. When I open up the task manager its says my memory is at 70%-100% WHILE IDLE but the programs are only using like 25%-40% memory so something is hidden. Just looking for a fix or allocating more memory to Windows. I have an 8Gb system.
Here is a screenshot of the task manager while I right this [URL] ....
How do i turn SLI mode on my dual graphics GT750M on the Y510p laptop. GPU-Z says SLI is disabled. Can't seem to find a place to turn it on Nvidia control panel either. Device Manager does show 2 GT750m working right.
I bought this laptop recently. It comes with a single graphics card. I heard this model has ultrabay and you can add another graphics card. My question is is it true that you can add a second graphics card in this system with ultrabay? I am confused if SLI and ultrabay refers to the same thing. If that is the case then this system is non sli.
