I've tried to set up a 64bit guest operating system in VMWare and in VirtualBox, but have been unable to. I understand that the problem might be that VT-x is not enabled in the BIOS. However, on booting up my G780 and using F2 to edit the settings I don't see anything related to VT.

I have enabled Virtualization through BIOS after updating it to v3 still the intel utility doesnt show virtualization is enabled:
Steps I have taken:
1.Disabled Virtualization in BIOS
Result: Speccy and hwinfo64, 3rd party utilities show VT-x is available but disabled
2.Enabled Virtualization in BIOS
Result: Speccy and hwinfo64, 3rd Party utilities show VT-x is not available
3. Repeated above steps after updating BIOS
Result: Same problems

I have a Lenovo G780 who was in Windows 8.
I have a problem with and now i cannot reinitialize it. Windows 8 corrupted and the image who found on the sAVE partition is also corrupted.
How I could to have a DVD for reinstall the system ?
The keyboard of my laptop doesn't work properly anymore. I can just use a few keys and delete and space don't work at all. this is after I installed the driver again. Before that it was like I'm pressing one key and getting two or more different letters. Maybe it is of some interest that a few weeks ago I installed win8.1 new.

Please restart the computer or reinstall the driver if the problem persists. I have restrtaed the computer and I do not know where the driver is for this or where to install it. Computer is just over a month old.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI mostly use a mouse and I am getting annoying mouse pointer jumps when I inadvertantly touch the touchpad while typing. It seems like just pressure on the area outside of the touchpad is enough to make the pointer jump. I would like the touchpad to be disabled when a mouse is present on the system and be enabed when no mouse is present. I would not want to be caught having to find my way to the Control Panel using keystrokes.It does not seem like this is possible so I am hoping that Lenovo is monitoring these posts.
View 6 Replies View RelatedCurrently I have twice the nVidia gt 755m, working on SLI. Though a lot of games I play are incompatible with SLI and will heat op my laptop with bad performace. I could turn off my SLI option to have some normal fps again, but since skype and my mouse driver needs to be turned off everytime I want to turn on or off SLI it is not really my favorite option.
When you have twice the nvidia, the bios will automatically turn off the intel hd graphics. I would like to know if there is a possibility to turn on the intel hd graphics, then I could run my desktop + the programs that need to be turned of for the switching on the intel hd. I hope this would be possible to enable and that there will be no power issues when turning it on (3 graphic cards will take some power).

I have a problem changing my BIOS settings after installing win8.1 and enabling bitlocker. I wanted to reformat the partition it was on, so I wiped it with gparted and now all settings in bios are greyed out and I cannot change anything. What can I do to be able to edit my BIOS?
I also have linux installed on my computer if I could do anything from there.
Initially configuration was easy (through available connections)and i could use net at ease. Bue couple of days I happened to "Disable" two network which used to connect automatically the moment i used to turn my laptop ON.But after that, I never saw them in the available connection. Although i can see those network available on my phone, but on laptop i unable to detect them. I tried configuring them by using "wireless network connection properties" and i could even chnage their preference too. I tried disabling/enabling wireless network, but its not working at all.But at the same time I can see coupls of other wireless network which are in range, but i can not connect to any of those as they dont belong to my hotel.

How to enable VT-x on T440s? I tried to enable Security -> Vritualization setting in the BIOS menu. After a cold restart, the virtualization setting stays the same Enabled state, but the Win8.1 doesn't seem to recognized it and CPU-Z shows no VT-x like the image below. The BIOS is the latest, update yesterday.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop was running Windows 8.1 with SecureBoot enabled just fine. But I just swapped out my boot drive for a bigger SSD and, when I tried to boot from my USB installation media (to do a fresh Windows 8.1 install), nothing would happen (the screen would just flash when I tried to select the USB drive). I realized I had to disable Secure Boot in order to boot from the USB drive and then to enable booting from legacy/non-UEFI devices.
So now I've been able to install Windows 8.1 and it's running without a hitch, but Secure Boot is still in the disabled state. When I enable it, I can't boot from anything. How can I re-enable Secure Boot with my fresh Windows 8.1 install? Or if I have to reinstall, what steps do I need to take this time?
Just purchased a G50-30 with win 7 x64. Decided to update the BIOS A7CN40WWW_64 from Lenovo website. The notebook version was A7CN23WW.
Upon reboot, after successful BIOS update, Win 7 booted with errors of Repair option or Normal boot up. Even re-installation of Win 7 will yield BSOD - ACPI non compliant.
Have changed BIOS settings defaults from UEFI to Legacy, it still does not work. This BIOS version is not stable. Can i request for the earlier version of BIOS ?
I have searched the issue and all I can see is I have to flash the bios. I am not comfortable doing that because I have done this before on my Alienware and it took me three days to restart the computer. Everything was messed up.

I have had my laptop for over a year, and after upgrading various drivers in an attempt to fix a random power off issue, have now found that the laptop will BSOD everytime I wake it from sleep.
I am running Windows 8.1
The root cause seems to be that the SSD no longer appears in the BIOS, therefore I am unable to re-install the Intel Rapid Start software and enable RAID which seems to be a requirement.
My BIOS version is 65CN97WW dated 29/01/2013

I run in some problem with Bios. Few days ago I have changed some settings in Bios and now I can't access it. There is no press enter to interupt booting, F1 or others buttons don't call Bios on boot. What I can do to enter Bios settings again?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought Z50-75 with AMD FX7500, 8GB Ram and FreeDOS. I installed Windows 8.1 Pro, and they pulled some drivers during the installation, and I went to Lenovo sight and downloaded all the rest (graphics, camera, etc.), after each installation the computer restarted normally and all was O.K. The last drivers that I saw on the site were BIOS drivers, and I downloaded those to and it started the installation after which it said:"The system will now restart for changes to make effect", and it did, but, it would not boot up after that, all it did was show me this on the screen:
And I tried both of the options (the second one with the Windows CD inside), but it just stays where it is, no effect.
I can enter the bios and change the settings, but none of them seem to work because this is the maximum where it will go, the only difference is when I change from AHCI to Compatible mode, it restarts and than I have a blank screen, I have to use the One button Recovery to get back to this one from the picture above...
I was trying to access my BIOS recently, but whenever I attempt to do so, all I get is a constant beep sound. I used to be able to access the BIOS just fine, but now I can't. The computer itself still boots fine, though I also can't select any boot options either.
I thought I could fix this by resetting the BIOS, but there doesn't appear to be any way of doing that. The CMOS battery is nowhere to be found, and there is no BIOS update for the Y510p that I can apply.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Lenovo G40-70 that I've just bought 6 months ago where I accidently bricked the laptop after BIOS update. It seems during the BIOS updating process it when well but after 2nd reboot there's some message on the screen that the BIOS failed to update factory setting and it freeze on the message for quiet sometimes. After a long wait I decided to long press Start button for hard reboot. Then the scary part comes in where it seems the laptop can't longer shows the Lenovo logo & cannot even boot to Windows, just black screen.
I would like to tried myself first before ending up with warranty claim since I'm worried I've brick the warranty due to wrong BIOS update procedure....

I have searched for everything, even swapped the RAM but there is no change in the frequency, it simply runs on 800mhz. SATA is set to AHCI and boot is set to UFEI. The SSD works fine on a 5 year old Advent laptop.I have also tried a different SSD with Windows already installed on it, and that wasn't detected either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy machine is Lenovo Z580 with Windows 7. Some time ago I accidentally installed Linux Mint on my whole HDD, so all the partitions and files (including recovery partition) were erased. I then installed back Windows 7 and partitioned the HDD.
However, since the incident, I'm unable to enter BIOS. I'd like to change boot sequence, because the laptop wants to boot from network, displays an error, and then boots from HDD and Windows 7 starts. I can access boot manager with F12 during boot, and the entries are (those aren't the exact names of course, except the first one):
1. ubuntu <- yes, that's how it's called. I guess it's a remnant of Linux Mint installation
2. booting from network
3. booting from HDD
4. booting from DVD
5. booting from USB
I tried the following things:
1. pressing F2 at boot. it used to work before the incident, now the laptop ignores it and proceeds to attempting boot from network, displays an error, and then boots from HDD.
2. using Novo button instead of power button, then choosing "BIOS setup" option - the laptop still proceeds to boot OR displays black screen and need to be shut down
3. removing boot entries using Ubuntu via USB stick [URL] ..... - I can't remove any entry, because after using
>efibootmgr -v
no list appears, and when I enter
>efibootmgr -B -b 001
or any other number, I get an error that the entry wasn't found.
I can't flash BIOS because Lenovo didn't provide the necessary file for this model. I also can't sent the laptop to repair because my warranty period ended two months ago.
So, I flashed the file attached here: [URL] .... and everything works now! the "ubuntu" entry has been automatically deleted and I was able to access BIOS and change the boot order.
Before installing ... write down MAC address of your LAN card, because it'll get deleted after BIOS update!
1. press windows key+R, type cmd and press Enter.....
2. in the opened command window, type ipconfig /all and press Enter, find the entry regarding your Ethernet connection and write down the physical address....
3. Flash BIOS update
4. After reboot follow this guide: [URL] .....
