Lenovo S410P U/S Series :: RAM Expansion / Switch Support?
May 20, 2014Thinking of buying a S410P i7 - but the whole series only offers 4GB RAM in one slot - so does the S410P support more RAM, if I switch it to 8GB for example?

Jun 19, 2014I've installed win7 64bit on my Ideapad S410p. The problem is 2 USB3.0 ports can't be used, only 1 USB2.0 that can be used. The driver was installed and nothing wrong. In order to use USB3.0, I need to plug in the device and then restart my laptop. I must do that every time plug to USB3.0.

1.re-istalling the wifi driver, nothing happend,
2.install an older version (6.0.2) of energy management, nothing happend
3.putting back my old drive (with my previously working fine windows), nothing changed
4. bios reset, and again nothing happend!

The option for wireless is enabled in bios.

1- Can I get another GFX and insert it instead of the DVD Rom ? FOR SURE ?Â
2- Should this additional GFX be another 750M , or can it be a more recent model ?Â
3- Is it guaranteed that SLI will work under Windows 8.1 ?Â

Lenovo B / G Series :: B5400 Switch Between Speaker And Earphone
Feb 9, 2014One month ago I bought a Lenovo B5400 MB825GE with Windows 8.1 and I'm quite happy with it. The only problem I have got is, that the notebook won't change the audio output - automatically and most of the time even manually -Â from the speakers to the headphone, when plugged in.

I can "change" the output in the Windows "Sound" options but the problem here is, that it won't really work. I have got two devices in here, the first is the "Speaker/Headphone" which only represents the speaker. The second is the "Realtek HD Audio 2nd output" which means to be for the headphone. I have changed them to "default device" and to "default communication device" but the output won't change.

E.g.: Somehow (I'm really not sure how) I managed to change the audio output to the headphone. If I plug it out now, the audio output won't change to the speakers even if I change it in the Windows "Sound" option.
Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: X1 Carbon Won't Switch From AC To Battery
Nov 27, 2013Bought a unit with this problem: As soon as I unplug the AC Cord from the laptop, it power off without notice and can't power up the laptop. It seems like the battery is not giving power .When I plug back in the AC, I can press the power button.

One strange thing is that the battery is 100%, state : good. Tried the reset battery so now 3 cycle counts. The thing is that if I unplug the AC cord only from the power outlet to the ac adaptor then the power is still up, the brightness goes down a bit and then power off without notice.

- removed and reset the battery pack

I'm out of options and I would be glad if I can find what cause that "unswitchable thing".

Jul 6, 2014Just bought the M5400 and plan to switch to a smaller SSD.
Checking up on the existing 500 GB drive from WD, I see that there are 5 partitions on it.
What really bothers me is all the wasted space each partition seems to have.Â
WINRE_DRV - 1000MB unused 675MB
SYSTEM_DRV - 260MB unused 200MB
Other - 128MB no unused
C:Windows...well here its obviously not an issue
Lenovo_Recovery - 17GB unused 8,5GB
there is almost 10GB of waste when I'm planing on switching to a 250GB.
Can I make theme smaller with Minitool Partition Wizard before I try cloning to SSD?

To access their functionality you must press Fn+appropriate key. The problem has been described here many times. But no solution works for G500.
I have tried: enter BIOS (no such option for keyboard)install Lenovo Slim USB Keyboard application (runs, but the option selected have no effect)install Lenovo Ultraslim Plus Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Driver application (do not run at all - just brings me to the desktop and do nothing). Dec 6, 2014I'm using a seconday (spare) power adapter at home, for my y50.  The adapter is a 20 volt / 90 watt unit.  My primary adapter (in work) is the original adapter that came with the Y50, a 20 volt / 120 watt unit.  When using the laptop with the spare adapter (the 90 watt unit) I get a Lenovo Energy Manager message that pops up stating "Adapter has limited support" and "Performance will be affected if the power adapter cannot provide enough charge".  Presumably the laptop would need more than 90 watts to drive it if the CPU and /or video were working hard?  Do you see any issues using that adapter for day to day work, that is, not gaming?  Also, can the messge be disabled?

I also didn't find any tool where I can set my preferences (Best Battery Healt as standard). I have never had this problem on Windows 7.

the problem is i can't install the intel vga driver which i got from the lenovo download support page (the filename is "ivg200w732.exe"),when i run it, it says something like my computer doesn't have the minimum requirements for the driver to install..well it looks like it is the wrong driver, because when i explore the installation directory, i found a "x64"-named directory... and no "x86" or "32bit" or anything similar...

Mar 27, 2014I can extend my W530 Win8.1 display to a Dell monitor via HDMI OR a HP monitor via VGA but not both simultaneously. If I plug in both monitors simultaneously, then the HP goes to sleep and the Dell reproduces the laptop display, with no option to extend.

Lenovo W540 ThinkPad W Series :: Middle Mouse Button Support?
Jul 24, 2014I've run my Lenovo laptops (on a T510 now) for years using the middle button (the "scroll" button) as a plain old middle mouse button. The ultranav tool has always had an option to make it act like a MMB, with no fancy scroll function, etc.

I just bought a new W540, and found, much to my distress, that such an option doesn't seem to exist on the W540! This is very important to me as I run Cygwin X server and rely on the middle mouse button to to paste in Xterms and other X apps. This is a real showstopper for me!

I noticed a "three finger tap" function that's supposed to act as a MMB. But it doesn't seem to work in Cygwin X. Plus, it's not the best solution.
