My webcam has been working fine with all programs (skype, aim, websites, etc) until yesterday. Now, it just shows a black sceen and when I try to access it on websites I get error messages saying the webcam can not be found. When I look under my devices, it says the webcam is installed and my drivers are up to date. I tried reinstalling the drivers but that didn't work.
I've bought Lenovo T410s in pretty bad shape. I decided to refubish the one, because I've some spare parts from T400s. So I disassembled the laptop, cleaned the one and assembled it back. Because the LCD screen was defected, I changed the whole LCD assembly (I put the whole one from T400s), changing only the LCD front bezel (but the only difference between the bezzel is the model inscription on it).
I installed the system back. After finishing the instalation of the system with all drivers update, I noticed that the HDD LED in the front LCD panel (that one under LCD) is still lighting as the AC charger is in. When I take it out, it stops lighting.
I have a video about this Thinkpad 410s.I always pull the battery to replace a screen on a laptop. After replacing the screen I got ready to test it.I forgot to repace the battery and with the power adapter NOT connected it booted once before I realized what it was doing.I then turned my smartphone camcorder on and it booted a second time.Is there a second battery or is it running on capacitors? it had been unplugged 3 days before I changed the screen.
How can i remove my bios password on a t410s and on t410. I work by selling refubished computer and i have some t410s and t410 but with bios password, can i flash bios, to remove it?if yes, how?
Is there any jumpers on them (specially on t410s)...
On my Windows 7, APS works well with an icon on the system tray. But in Ubuntu (13.04), because of no driver, I dont know if APS works or not. The question is: does it still work silently without the driver on Ubuntu? If APS doesn't work, is my laptop harmed when it's shaken? Does Lenovo have any solution to get ASP worked on Linux (Ubuntu)?
I just bought a T430u but I cannot get the WebCam to work properly. When I use for example the Windows 8 camera app or Skype the green light next to the WebCam turns on but instead of seeing me on the screen I just find a grey picture with a white crossed out camera.
I've got a problem with the laptop Lenovo T410s. I've put the new HDD on it (tried even the same with a different HDD too), and started to instal WIN 7 64-bit from the recovery disks. I used to do it many times so far with different Lenovo laptops without any problems. But this time, a while before the end of the instalation (when processing the sdrivebackup.wim) it stops and comes with a statement: " the recovery process has been finished, please ...." (but I see that the progres bar is far awayfrom 100%) , and finishes the instalation, reboot the computer and it comes the screen with the statement from the Windows Boot Manager:
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem (...)
File: Windowssystem32winload.exe Status: 0xc000000f Info: The selected entrycould not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt"
I read a lot about the ways to solve similar problems, but they don't work on my case. The strange thing is, that I can instal WIN 8 or WIN7 from regular Windows instalation disks (not from Lenovo recovery, but from normal universal Windows instalation disks).
As I told before, I tried it in 2 different HDD disks with the same effect. It looks that the recovery instalation stops before the end without instaling some files which are missing later during starting the system.
Just got a new T420 and tried the webcam feature but unfortunately it doesn't work. When Fn+F6 is press I only see the audio settings. I installed the latest driver from LENOVO and rebooted the system but it's still the same, just the audio settings. Updated the communication & hotkey as well.
I have the T540p and the webcam doesn't work at all. When I try using it in Skype and Adobe Connect, I just get the camera icon with a slash through it. I've read in other forums that uninstalling the webcam driver and reinstalling it doens't work. I really need the webcam to work so this is pretty urgent for me.
The normal LED on thinkpad lid is a red dot that appears on top of i. This dot does not light up. Am I missing some thing to make this i on the logo blink again.
i ve got thinkpad t440s model 20AQ004VRT so it got europe only geforce GT 730M video card. I've noticed that if i use it all day long( about 4-5 hours, maybe got something to do with sleep mode) fan stops spinning and notebook gets really hot under high loads. Fan starts working only after reboot. I've tried to use tpfancontrol but smart mode stopped detecting cpu tempreture and even somehow crushed battery life detection, so ive had to remove it.
Other than that, I've got gorilla glass bit extruded from the left side. I can push it but it keeps coming back to that position. And ive had fingerprint reader error - system could not find it after some time of use, but that problem resolved itself somehow, maybe after ive removed northon protection system...
Today i bought Lenovo IdeaPad G50-70. Everything went ok, but then, when I wanted to call my friend via Skype I realize my microphone isn't working. I checked all forums, tried everything still not working. I thought ok, I will input my microphone( I have one ), but this laptop only has 1 connector. Or you connect headphones or microphone, you can't both. I need to have headphones tho.I installed and reinstalled driver already too.The operation system is Win7 64 bit.
I've been having this weird problem where my Fn+F5 combination (which toggles wireless on and off) has stopped working. I recently uninstalled, and then reinstalled, the lenovo driver for power management in windows 8 64, because I was having the same problem with putting the computer into sleep mode via Fn+F4 (I think by reinstalling the driver, it fixed the sleep mode problem but screwed up my "toggle wireless" ability via keyboard). If the power management driver was potentially the culprit for these two problems, and I reinstall it once again....
I have a T440p with a Windows 7 professional 64 bit. I got the same problem: camera light is on, but I can't see any preview but only a crossed camera on a grey background.
Since my operating system is Windows 7, I don't have a "setting app" in my laptop.
I purchased a manufacturer refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad T410 2522EC8 a few days ago. My USB ports are simply not responding to anything. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. The only sign the USB ports show is when I plug in my mouse, the mouse lights up, but it doesn't actually work. Also, when I look under disk management, the only drives that show up are System Reserved, C: Drive, and D: Drive.
The built-in camera on my T-530 is not working. I made a thread about it on Microsoft's support site, but I haven't been able to resolve the issue. [URL] ....
When I try to capture video with a program, All I get is this symbol:
It does this with every program I've tried including Camera, Windows Movie Maker, and Skype. The programs can still record videos and save them, but the only thing that appears in them is this symbol.
I've tried changing my permission settings. I can give skype permission to use the built-in camera, but it doesn't work. For whatever reason I don't have to option to give permission to Camera or to Movie Maker.
I've also reinstalled the driver for my camera. Then I ran the Lenovo Solution Center and Lenovo Thinkvantage System Update and updated everything I could.
Based on the advice I got from Microsoft tech support I have run the hardware trouble shooter, installed all the Windows updates I could get, reinstalled the built-in camera driver in compatibility mode and updated my BIOS driver.
I connect my T410 to an ethernet connection, open up Access Connections, and try to get the Mobile Hotspot feature working. When I click on "Start", the button just turns to "Starting..." and hangs there forever.

I am a PC technician building a Thinkpad T540p for an end user. It is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. I have installed all the drivers directly from the Lenovo support page. My problem is that the function key to turn the Wireless Radio is not working. I have checked function lock. The other function keys do their marked function fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the hotkey driver as well as the wireless driver and I still can not get it to work.
I bought t420 last month. Yesterday i spilled liquid on the clicks on touchpad. The right button works but it freezes sometimes, left doesn't work at all. Because i am in Europe now,the warnity does not cover. Also the ultranav buttons don't work. With external mouse it works.
All my drivers are up to date, my mouse has new batteries, and I tried this fix:

Now my Bluetooth mouse only works after I reboot the computer, but then disconnects after a while, and I can't even add it again to my Bluetooth devices.
Symptom: when trying to enroll a fingerprint, I get the message: 'Use a longer stroke when scanning your fingerprint,' the sensor light turns from green to blinking orange (3 times), then back to green. Same happens when when trying to enroll from Windows PC Setting/ Sign-in Options/ Fingerprint (Add).
What I tried: uninstalling ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software and Driver (to include selecting 'Delete the driver software for this device'), rebooting, using Lenovo System Update to re-install ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software, rebooting. Have also tried to manually install previous versions of the Fingerprint Software to no avail.
I had this similar problem in the past, since upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, but the steps above usually resolved it.
I was having sound issues that I fixed by updating my BIOS from the website's drivers. However now I can no longer use the middle click button. I used this for opening new tabs and now it doesnt even work for scrolling either. I have auto scroll enabled in firefox and I have confirmed that it does not work in IE either. I went to control panel -> Mouse and there is not even an option for a middle button.
I have a 3-yr old Thinkpad T500 laptop w/ XP. My on-screen volume and brightness displays have recently disappeared. Spoke with customer support and was advised to download all the machine updates....did that, but still not working.
I got my thinkpad T530 last week. I tested the skype after opening the box and it works. Then I took off the original 320G HDD and put my 830 SSD on it, reinstalled the win8.Just last night when I tried to chat with my parents on skype i found out the the camera is dead. I tried by doing so:
1) according to others threads I uninstall most of the unnecessary drivers; 2) reinstall the camera driver; 3) deleted the ricoh media driver; 4) updated the BIOS; 5) tired to locate someone mentioned, the "privacy" problem. But the video/camera option is not even showing up by Fn+F6; 6) downloaded and installed the thirdparty AMCAM and it says no camera device can be found.
When the keyboard on my T430s is in use, the touchpad is disabled. This prevents any gaming.
The driver for the touchpad is UltraNav Pointing Device version 16.2.19.14 (the newest available I believe). How to get the touchpad working so I can play some games?
I have tried to modify the touchpad settings from the Control Panel but I cannot find a relevent option.
