I am trying to share my 3g connection to my other devices. My internet is working on my laptop. I've enabled mobile hotspot in access connectoins, I've connected a 2nd device and the device is properly showing up as a connected device. But when I try to load a webpage on my 2nd device, it times out. I tried also with other devices (ipad, android phone), but to no avail.

I connect my T410 to an ethernet connection, open up Access Connections, and try to get the Mobile Hotspot feature working. When I click on "Start", the button just turns to "Starting..." and hangs there forever.

Sometimes windows gives the message that all wireless radios are now off. So as if I've switched the hardware switch. But I didn't touch anything.
I think it is hardware related because sometimes I can just yently touch the switch and windows will be telling me that the radios are on again. It is not so much of a problem, but it happens every few hours and fixing it would be nice.
I've removed the keyboard and the palmrest, but the cardbus (?) is still preventing me from having a closer look. Don't know if I can get any closer without removing the entire mainboard. Because that would be a bit too much.

I am trying to use the bluetooth in my X230 to pair my laptop with my cell phone. I want to be able to use my cell phone as a personal hotspot, in case I am in an area with no secure wi-fi. I would have thought that this would be standard feature in a laptop that is touted as a business device, but apparently this is not the case.
I installed both the bluetooth driver and the latest system update, [URL]..... but it is still not working for me. I am now able to connect my cell phone to my X230, but instead of enabling me to access the internet via Bluetooth, a dialogue box appears enabling me to play songs that are on my cell phone using the laptop speakers.the bluetooth driver did not come pre-installed on the x230, and I am disappointed that I am not able to use my cell phone as a personal hotspot for my x230.
I recieved the W540 a few days ago, and I see there is a slot behind the battery for a SIM card, I tried using my SIM card and I still can't use mobile broadband. Can I use mobile broadband on the W540? do I need any drivers? and if I can't use it, can I buy something like this for the expresscard slot and insert the SIM in the slot behind the battery?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a new X240. It has a sim card slot on the right side. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
it seems that the x240 does not recognize wwan hardware. I can't find it in the device manager. It doesn't connect to any network when I insert a SIM card. Also, no unknown devices show up in the device manager. I installed the following drivers in an attempt to fix the issue:
-Ericsson N5321gw wireless WAN
-Sierra Wireless 7355 - Gobi 5000
... but no success.
I also tried running commands in cmd window to check the status of the wwan:
-netsh mbn sh int
-netsh mbn sh cap int=*
... but I always get the same message: "Mobile Broadband Service (wwansvc) is not running"
I am starting to think that having a sim card slot does not neccessarily mean that the x240 is Mobile Broadband capable.
Sound problem of ThinkPad X220. Audio CD is no problem, and sound comes from speaker. Headphone is also working when pluged into 3.5mm jack. But no sound from Internet Video such as ABC news or YouTube. Recently, I have installed Cisco TeleConference software, and I have uninstalled that software, but the conditions have not changed.

Briefly after that Wireless Radios Master Control no longer lists Mobile Broadband, it only shows 802.11 Wireless/Wimax and Bluetooth.
Windows Network Connections lists "Mobile Broadband Connection" as "Not connected, N5321 gw Mobile Broadband Driver. Diagnosing this connection suggests to "Turn on mobile broadband capability", which I cannot do as it is not listed in the Wireless Radios Master Control.

I have a T420 Thinkpad and have 2 external monitors connected; one using VGA into the docking station and one using DVI into the docking station. The laptop does not recognize the mobile PC display as an option when I attempt to extend to a 3rd monitor. The ultimate goal is 3 monitors extended: 2 external and 1 (the laptop display). View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have an issue with my original X1 Carbon (2012, 3443-CTU) light not working on the LCD. I attached an external monitor to the laptop and it works without issues so it's not the motherboard. Under the right lighting conditions and angle, i can see very very faintly my desktop background.
This leads me to believe that the screen inverter is damaged, or the lcd. Since my ultrabook isn't under warranty, i believe the best course of action is to find the screen on ebay and replace it. [URL] ....
Is replacing the LCD as easy as it sounds? It looks like i need to remove much of the parts underneath the keyboard panel, and remove the LCD bezel and replace the screen. Is there something i'm missing?
I've got the 12inch thinkpad yoga. The left shift key works intermittently. This started happening to me a couple of weeks ago (I've had the computer since December and haven't noticed a problem. I sent it in twice and supposedly, they replaced the whole machine this last time, but I'm still having the problem. Could this be a fault in this model in general?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got thinkpad W500 and the PrtSc key is not capturing screen I want to copy. It doesn't require the Fn key because it's labeled on top row ("sysrq" is below it on 2nd row on same button key).
-I also tried pressing Fn + prtsc just to see if that would work. Didn't work.
-Then I tried pressing Alt + prtsc... nothing.
-I even tried pressing Ctrl + PrtSc.... nothing.
I've looked all over Forum, no one addresses this, or at least not for the W500 (which is different from the other W510 through W540 series laptops. Or other ways to capture a screenshot?

i recently bought my W520 and everything works just fine - except for the internal webcam.
I installed the drivers (current version) from the Lenovo web site but the webcam won't turn on. The green just wouldn't turn on and when I press Fn+F6 the communication tool shows up without any webcam video. Same thing for skype or any other webcam tool.
Sometimes after booting it works for a few seconds but then the image freezes and it won't start again until after several system restarts.

I have tried three different headphones and none of them work - when i plug in the headphones, nothing happens. I have tried rebooting. Have checkec AUDIO in the control panel, it only shows SPEAKERS but nothing there for headphones or microphones.

SIM card installed correctly and working perfectly on my phones.
I just purchased a new 6-cell battery (44+) for my X230. When I install it and restart, I get the message "The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge." After starting Windows I can see that the battery is in fact not charging.
I tried to make sure to buy a 44+ battery that I was told was compatible with the X230.
I have a W500, ATI Mobility FireGL V5700, Windows 7.
When I press FN+Home and FN+END to regulate brightness up or down, the brightness symbols turn on and goes up/down, but the screen brightness is not regulated up or down but stays constant somewhere in between.
What can I do to get "brighness" working?
It has never worked, the computer is 2 months old. I have upgraded from Windows 7, 32 bit to 64, but brightness is still not working.
I just received my Lenovo X1 Carbon; it's a very good product and I really like it. Everything is working as expected (fast & smooth) except one thing: laptop works kinda strange with the closed lid

I've chosen (in power options) that laptop does nothing when lid is closed. Yes, it works but... I'm using TeamViewer to connect to laptop; it works but TeamViewer periodically loses connection and displays message "The screen can't be captured at this moment..", Microsoft installer (I'm installing Visual Studio 2013) is paused (!), and Google Chrome won't render pages (but Internet Explorer works fine).
If I open the lid, all symptoms described above are disappear: installer resumes downloading, Chrome render html pages correctly and TeamViewer works fine (no periodical messages shown).
For me it looks like laptop not in "normal" operational state but kinda under power saving.
I've set power option to "High performance" (laptop is plugged) but it doesn't work.
Sometimes the machine does not show any wireless networks and I have been able to solve it by turning on and off the hardware switch for wireless on the back of the machine. This time I can not get the machine to find any wireless networks. I am running XP. The only think different that I noticed is that MS Security Essesntials has ended support for XP.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI might have seen the numeric keypad keys work once since getting this machine, but now can't get the keys to produce numbers. Some of the keys initiate other actions not associated with numeric data entry.
I tried removing the wireless dongle for my Microsoft wireless mouse but no improvement -- I simply swapped this MS mouse from my old W510 without doing any formal install.
This doesn't appear to be a hardware problem since the keypad keys have some effect -- just not the intended effect.
I have a new W540, and the microphone mute button does not work properly. When I press fn+f4. the red LED turns on, the slashed out microphone appears on the screen, and the volume settings for both the "Microphone" and "External Mic" are muted in Windows. However, audio from the microphones still capture audio, and it can be recorded on applications like Audacity and Skype.
Manually muting the microhphones via the Sound dialog in Windows has the same effect. The LED and OSD come on, but the microphone does not stop recording. As of now, I have found no way to mute the microphone outside of muting sound input in each individual applicaton.
I have 13" thinkpad yoga that will not auto rotate in any mode, this macine is new and the auto rotate function has never worked.

the microphone mute button doesn't work, nor does it light up at all... the speaker mute button works. Also, the Lenovo button next to it USED to work and now doesn't for some unknown reason. I have a new x1 carbon with windows 8.1 and really need some specific direction on how to troubleshoot this!
