Thinking of buying a Vaio X from Conics for use in the UK. Anybody who has experience with this? They seem to ship it with an English Windows 7 version, keyboard in their base model is Japanese international however.
Still a good deal it seems at 760GBP+shipping for the Z540 with 64gb SSD.
I'm in the UK - what is the difference between the VPCF11Z1E/BI and VPCF11X5E? The first one is available on the Sony UK site, and the second the Sony Style site. If I spec up the X5E to the same spec, it's £70 cheaper!
i.e. - i7 720QM, 8GB RAM, 500GB Hard Disk
A few questions though:
I really want the best screen possible. Do these both have it? Is it Adobe RGB?
I need 8GB of RAM - is it cheaper to get it with 4GB and buy the extra 4GB seperately?
Is a 128GB SSD worth the £120 extra over the standard 500gb 7200rpm disk (currently included free)? Is the SSD that Sony include any good, or should I buy a 128GB or 256GB one seperately? Do they have a limited life span?
Finally - is it full of bloatware? Will I need to flatten it and reinstall Windows to get it running well, or is the VAIO stuff worth having? Are the disks for Windows 7 supplied, and are the drivers easy to find?
I don't know if anyone here has noticed, but there have been a crapload of FX3500s going for around $150 recently. There are still a few up for auction. You just need to look under "fx3500" when you search. Sure, they are used, but they are stated to be in working condition.
I was going to get one myself, but it would be an incremental upgrade from my 2500, and I didn't think the hassle of buying one and installing it would be worth rolling the dice for a slightly higher OC. Plus, the guy has good feedback, but nobody had given feedback for these particular cards last time I checked. This is important because the guy can't seem to get his part numbers right. From the information I have, the CG129 and YF209 (both of which are given in the description) are the FX2500 and 7900 GS, respectively. I would want to be sure I was actually getting a 3500.
I've been watching for a studio remote for a while on eBay (they only seem to every have the older grey style available) and I see there's a guy on there selling a bunch of them new for $19 shipped free.
Use microsoft cashback for 14% off, or it looks like he takes offers.
I guess Dell dumped a bunch of them now that the 1555 can't use a remote.
There is someone selling a Quadro FX 2500m for 450$, I thought these things went for about 150. And for the 450 bucks for a 7950 GTX, I could buy a 8800 GTX for my desktop.
Maybe the supply will increase to drive the prices down, although I don't know where they would be getting the equipment.
so today I took the plunge of buying a 9 cell battery for my m1530 in ebay it was a 7200mah/85mWH. I was wondering if anyone bought this battery here before and if its any good?
i looked at genuine dell batteries and its out of my budget...and my 6 cell can only hold an hour of charge after 1 and a Half year of use.
since I live in Canada and all and we only have the crap 1st Generation HP Envy 15's... if I were to buy a 2nd Generation one through Ebay.CA (The canadian site, yes they have them on there)....
Would the warranty or any tech support be void because I did not buy it through a valid seller? Or does the tech support just go by the Serial # on the bottom of the laptop?
Only reason I ask is because the last thing I want to do is buy a $2000 machine, in a country that doesn't have them yet, and find myself having problems 2 months in and not be able to do anything about it.
Anyone know? Or if there is another way I can get a 2nd Gen HP Envy 15 to myself in Canada, without having to go to the border and all that junk, incase I do have problems and need to send it back ever?
Trying to get rid of these questionably useful programs -- but I don't see entries for them in add/remove programs in the control panel (or for any of the other useless VAIO software packages that come on OEM machines sans "fresh start")
I was trying to configure a very powerful system (Precision) but didn't want the crappy widescreen monitor, need ultrasharp as it's for graphics work, but there is no option to deselect or select ultrasharp.
Another annoyance was that for some reason it wouldn't let me select a second drive - no incompatibilty message, nothing.
I'm thinking of buying the SXPS 16 from Dell Hong Kong as my bro lives there and he should be able to bring it down within the next two months. Unfortunately the only screen available is:
16.0" Edge to Edge High Definition (720p) LED Display with TrueLife(TM) Does anyone know the exact resolution of this. I've heard amazing things about the screen but I think this is has less resolution and not RGB?
Is it still worth getting? Will be used primarily for graphics editing, light gaming and Word/Excel. Thanks for any input.
never EVER doing business with these fools again, and I purchase machines for whole IT departments.

I'm interested in buying a good portable notebook and the E4300 is one of the main contenders because of the solid build, good batterly life and its weight and size
So I've been reading many mixed reviews about the latitude e4300 where many people thought it didn't live up to what you would expect from a premium business notebook with a premium price.
So I have been looking into something bigger than a 17' (yes i know im getting greedy as far as size) However Im not sure of the quality, performance and other things and was wondering if you guys could fill in the gaps.
Will be used for -Light gaming, but i definately want a low 'response time' -Watching movies -Browsing internet
My main questions are. -what is a good 'response time'?
Ive seen 2ms, 5ms as the lowest times and im guessing these times are more than reasonable for playin a few games.
-Will a 7900GS be strong enough to handle displaying a resolution of say 1600x1200 or 1920x1200 and play a game or two w/o any issues?
I've been watching for a long time the XPS M1530 line and now I'm almost 99.99% decided finaly get mine. ( the laptop will be purchased in Romania ).
However, I have some small questions if anyone can help me. First, the model I choose is http://www.emag.ro/notebook_laptop/n...NBKDLLIXPS0054 If anyone looks at the price, it's about $1364.
The use is for programming, some web design, and a little gaming (world of warcraft mostly).
1. Can hardware acceleration be used on the secondary monitor? Meaning that if I attach a second screen, can I have 3d full screen acceleration on it instead on the primary laptop display .....
anyhow i am looking for a new 1730M, and i am wondering if its really worth spending major money on a new laptop or will dell do aways with this for a better model soon ??
i was looking into getting the
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Extreme X9000(2.8GHz/800Mhz FSB/6M L2 Cache) [Included in Price] Overclockable up to 3.4Ghz!
I chose to get me Dell studio 15, and i need some help with recommanded components.
im going to get the best processor they offer (T9300), 4gb shared memory.
i need ur advice if i should get 200gb 7200 rpm or stay with the 320gb 5400?
i heard that 7200 rpm make the computer to get hot real fast.
what about the display? should i stay with the glossy 12800X800 or upgrade to the hi def screen ? im not going to watch movies on my laptop, so what do you think ?

Dell sent me a nice coupon for dell outlet and I can get a refurb dell mini 9 with the following specs for $191. Kind of an impulse buy if I get it but i've been wanting a netbook for a while.
Specs: Inspiron Mini 910 Intel Atom 1.6 1 GB ram 8 GB solid state drive. Ubuntu loaded .....
I want to replace my current hard drive which is 7200rpm 500gb seagate with SSD. Problem is on vista scoring chart there is either lower ranked ones or high ranked ones. obviously i want something higher ranked that my current Hard drive score of 5.9
