Mar 22, 2010Is it possible to sell a dell i bought online from dell.com on ebay? Its brand new i didn't receive it yet. I dont need it anymore because my brother wanted something else for his birthday, but i don't want to refund it. Is it possible to sell it on ebay? Would the service tag be affected?

Feb 3, 2009I have an M6400 that came with the monster sized 210w power adapter and I'm trying to find a smaller adapter. Yesterday I tried using a Dell DA90 AC adapter, it is a smaller adapter that is used on the D820 and E1705 laptops. The output voltage is the same as the M6400 adapter, the connector plug is the same, but the max wattage is only 90watts.
As soon as I connected the DA90 the screen jumped to full brightness and the laptop poped up a message saying that this charger may not provide enough power to run the laptop and charge the battery at the same time, no surprise there. What did surprise me was that even when the M6400 is off, the DA90 will not charge the battery at all!
I also used a Kill-A-Watt meter to measure the power use of my M6400 and it uses about 50watts when not using the 3D chip (Quadro FX3700m). Has anyone had any luck using a charger other than the 210watt monster brick? I want to find something smaller and I don't mind a slow battery drain during extensive 3D graphics use.

Apr 19, 2009I was at my friends house and suddenly both my friends Inspiron 1520's no longer charge!
This is the weirdest ever. All 3 of us have the same laptop....all swapped chargers. Mine charges fine, but neither of theirs does now?
They are working fine...just no longer charge! They are running out battery life as I type this.

Dec 14, 2009It was a fantastic laptop when I first got it and it still is. It's worked perfectly for me during its time.
I did have the heatsink replaced a few times as well as the motherboard due to overheating and not knowing exactly what the problem was, so it was more just a precautionary measure.
Eventually I found out that it was just due to the thermal paste needing replacement to lower the temps. So actually I haven't had any hardware problems at all.
Recently though I was tempted to buy the Asus G51VX-RX05 due to its cheap price tag and its slick look and ended up buying one. The hardware improvements that affect performance include:

Dell :: Genuine Battery Vs Others - M1530
Aug 23, 2009I bought my M1530 with a 6cell battery. I also bought another genuine 9cell battery off ebay.
I am currently using only the 6 cell battery, for over a year and a half. It only lasts for about 30-40min now, and the system has given me messages of "battery replacement needed".
This said, I want to buy another one, but Dell.com is very expensive.
On ebay you can find genuine for 60-70$ and "non-genuine" for around 40$
Is it worth the extra 20-30$?

Up till now, I have always bought Dell notebooks mainly for their overseas business warranties. Since Dell is only offering the XPS 1530 with an outdated 8600gt gpu, I thought I would check in this forum to inquire whether Hp offers a comparable notebook with a newer mid sized gpu? (I'm interested in having the mid sized gpu mainly for simulation gaming for those overnight out of town business trips.)

Apr 25, 2008I don't know if anyone here has noticed, but there have been a crapload of FX3500s going for around $150 recently. There are still a few up for auction. You just need to look under "fx3500" when you search. Sure, they are used, but they are stated to be in working condition.
I was going to get one myself, but it would be an incremental upgrade from my 2500, and I didn't think the hassle of buying one and installing it would be worth rolling the dice for a slightly higher OC. Plus, the guy has good feedback, but nobody had given feedback for these particular cards last time I checked. This is important because the guy can't seem to get his part numbers right. From the information I have, the CG129 and YF209 (both of which are given in the description) are the FX2500 and 7900 GS, respectively. I would want to be sure I was actually getting a 3500.

Aug 27, 2014Several years ago, I bought a HP G71-340US notebook with Windows7 (it was a refurbished model directly from HP). I have used it for mant years without real problems until last week. I am now getting on the bottom right side of my screen "Windows 7 build 7600 .This copy of window`s is not genuine" message . This is the same version that I bought from HP, though I have periodically updated Windows7 with Microsoft's updates. I called Microsoft and they told me that I either needed to purchase the software again or give them my access code from the discs, which I didn't receive from HP. What can I do to either get it to work or fine the Windows7 installation code?

Dec 11, 2013So i bought a new refurb e531 i7 3632qm 4rb ram 500gb 7200rpm drive. Machine runs awesome however As soon as i turned it on i noticed it gave a battery not geunine message from the bios had to push esc to continue.
Ignored it figured maybe it would learn the battery or something.
Anyhow its been a good 10 hours now still give me the message as well as i noticed its not charging when plugged in. In an attempt to fix this i have.
updated bios. Uninstalled and reinstalled newest power management software and driver's shutdown system unplugged power cord pulled battery and waited 30seconds and reinsterted battery then charger.
Im so far not impressed with this geunine battery firmware built into the system cant even detect their own battery !!

I can't find these cards for my 9400.. There's a lot of 7900Gs, but that's the card I already have!
Are there specific codes for those parts? I know the 7900GS is DG008, but I don't know of any for the cards I want.

Aug 15, 2012I installed new bios update downloaded from lenovo website (file h0uj03ww.exe). Immediately after succesful update message balloon popped up saying my battery is not genuine.
The battery is original, part of the notebook when i bought it and so far the system recognized battery as genuine.
Previous bios number was 1.12, new one is 1.14
Notebook model is 3259-C5G.

I am very computer savy and have built my own systems and overclocked etc for many years but this is my first laptop so any thing you think I should know just tell me.
Here I go , Why does this laptop have 5gb (4gb system ram and 1gb on the gpu) and a 32bit OS? I am waiting on the windows 7 upgrade but that will also be 32bit, Can I download a copy of windows 7 home premium x64 and use my genuine key, And if I do this can I get all the apps and drivers I need for full functionality of the laptop?
Also, When I turned it on brand new it is using 43% system memory, How much crap is on this thing lol? Is the upgrade cd for windows 7 a full new install or does it just upgrade the os without formatting the drive? Will the drivers needed for the laptop be bundled in the upgrade cd?
Anyone overclocked the cpu or gpu in this lappy?

Jan 20, 2014I am having a message that says "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached" message that appears after Windows 8.1 starts up. A similar sort of message appears before even Windows boots up, and I need to press the 'Esc' key in order for Windows to boot. This seems to have happened after a recent Windows update. I have uninstalled an reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management Driver but it does not appear to have fixed the issue. My BIOS is the latest version.
This issue is on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1.

Apr 21, 2010since I live in Canada and all and we only have the crap 1st Generation HP Envy 15's... if I were to buy a 2nd Generation one through Ebay.CA (The canadian site, yes they have them on there)....
Would the warranty or any tech support be void because I did not buy it through a valid seller? Or does the tech support just go by the Serial # on the bottom of the laptop?
Only reason I ask is because the last thing I want to do is buy a $2000 machine, in a country that doesn't have them yet, and find myself having problems 2 months in and not be able to do anything about it.
Anyone know?
Or if there is another way I can get a 2nd Gen HP Envy 15 to myself in Canada, without having to go to the border and all that junk, incase I do have problems and need to send it back ever?

Jan 18, 2009Is it normal that dell.ca would have fewer choices of screens than dell.com? I'm looking at the studio 15, and dell.com lists Hi Resolution/Bright,
glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900) as a choice, which is what I want, but dell.ca doesn't. When I view the system specs though, that choice is listed as on option.
