Apr 12, 2009Im looking for cases or sleeves for a sony fw laptop, i dont really like the boring black laptop bags that you see a lot of, id prefer something a little better looking, if anyone has a laptop bag for an fw and could post pictures i would be very grateful.
I havent come across many 16" laptop sleeves which is frustrating, apart from one from sony themselves.

Aug 6, 2009I need to buy a sleeve for my FW so i can put it secured in my backpack, suggest sleeves that give a snug,tight fit and can be found online?
I ve seen on the official forum people suggesting sleeves from Case logic but couldn't find which particular sleeve did they use. there are for 15,4", the 16", 17" and even one for Macbook. Since it's elastic neoprene i suppose there are many options.
I can't get the official sony sleeve ( vgp-amc7 ) because it is not available in my country and I coudn't find it in online stores or ebay, at least not without paying triple its price for shipping it overseas

Nov 23, 2009Wondering about those of you who had experience with the Sony Refurb notebooks. My understanding is that they are basically new old model, but come with only 90 days warranty.
THAT is the factor that scares me - the 90 day warranty as Sony repair is very expensive out of warranty.
Anyone comment on the risk vs the reduced price?

Jun 14, 2009I know many people have said they upgraded their ram past the "2gb limit" to 3gb or some even 4gb on a Intel GL960 chipset...but has anyone successfully upgraded their ram above 2gb with the GL960 on a Sony Vaio, or even more specifically the VGN-NR140E, or any VGN model? I'm asking because I want to upgrade past the limit, but I don't want to waste my money if it won't work, and if someone can let me know if it worked on their Sony Vaio (should have similiar BIOS) then I will be a bit more confident on my purchase.

Jun 2, 2009I have a SV Notebook PCG-7D1M which has completely died on me!! I heard somewhere that if a battery is dead or not inserted in a Vaio it will not work at all. Please can someone confirm this for me as at first i thought it was my power supply so bought a new adaptor but it still wont work with or without the battery in. I basically just want to know if it will work just running from the mains?

Mar 28, 2010I ordered the system in my sig early morning on 3/24. At the time of the order, it was estimated to ship on 4/2 with an estimated delivery date of 4/9. When I called to check the status the next day (3/25), it stated that the order was processing. When I checked again later that night, it said it was shipped on 4/6. I checked the status again the next morning (3/26), and this time it said it was shipped on 3/28 with an updated estimated delivery date of 3/31. Now today, on the 28th, I got the 'order has shipped' email along with the FedEx tracking number. FedEx's estimated delivery date is 3/30.
Anyone have any idea why or how my order could have shipped so quickly? I never did catch it in the kitting/build/testing/boxing stages...and these stages usually take at least a few days. Could I be receiving a recently returned system that just happened to have the same specs? It seems almost unheard of to receive a new system in less than a week after ordering it...especially when considering that they are built overseas and that I picked standard 7-day shipping. Is there any way I can tell if it is a returned system?
My friends and family somewhat jokingly said maybe it's because of my previous order history. I ordered the SXPS 1645 in late November, but later ended up cancelling the order in December due to the throttling issues it was having at the time. When I cancelled the order, it was already in the build stage for a day or two. Could Dell maybe have noticed my history and "rushed" my order this time?

May 27, 2009I ordered a Dell Prcision M4400 mobile workstation on April 27th. It is now MAY 27th and I STILL don't have my computer!
Every week, on the day the order is scheduled to ship, the shipping date is suddenly shifted one more week away. So far, this has happened to me 4 times!
When I call Dell they always assure me that such-and-such is the ship date, but then, yet again, the ship date is delayed another week. It doesn't matter if I explain what has been happening - they just repeat back like a parrot that the system says that it will ship on such-and-such a date.
I can see that for myself on the website! What I wanted was some kind of an explaination for the ridiculous delays and some kind of an assurance that I'll be getting my computer sometime within the current epoch

Why not ship from Malaysia to the customer?? I ordered HP a month ago, they built it in 8 days (not "business days", human days).

Nov 13, 2008Has anyone encountered abnormally long ship dates for recently ordered laptops?
I ordered a Studio 15 / Mini 9 combo about a week ago and the ESD for the Mini 9 is next week, and the ESD for the Studio 15 is early December. In the past I've gotten my custom-ordered laptops within a week of ordering.
I also noticed that the Purchase ID info does not show billing or shipping info, although I did receive email confirmation with that info.
What's going on? Will I receive lemons because Dell is making everyone take unpaid leave?
