View 10 RepliesWhat's a good site that serves internationally which is selling Sony Vaio notebooks?
Any other than Amazon?
I just bought a pre-configured SR490 and am wondering where do these ship from. Does sony just have one shipping center for VAIOs or are there numerous?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a SV Notebook PCG-7D1M which has completely died on me!! I heard somewhere that if a battery is dead or not inserted in a Vaio it will not work at all. Please can someone confirm this for me as at first i thought it was my power supply so bought a new adaptor but it still wont work with or without the battery in. I basically just want to know if it will work just running from the mains?
View 3 Replies View RelatedNone of the Vaio notebooks have IR Remote Control which I feel is very useful and has become standard since long in notebooks of other manufacturers, still I have not found anyone complaining about it in this forum. Does no one here miss the lack of it in their Vaios?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWondering about those of you who had experience with the Sony Refurb notebooks. My understanding is that they are basically new old model, but come with only 90 days warranty.
THAT is the factor that scares me - the 90 day warranty as Sony repair is very expensive out of warranty.
Anyone comment on the risk vs the reduced price?
When will Sony release a new line of notebooks instead of just a refresh? Will all of them be replaced at the same time?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI know many people have said they upgraded their ram past the "2gb limit" to 3gb or some even 4gb on a Intel GL960 chipset...but has anyone successfully upgraded their ram above 2gb with the GL960 on a Sony Vaio, or even more specifically the VGN-NR140E, or any VGN model? I'm asking because I want to upgrade past the limit, but I don't want to waste my money if it won't work, and if someone can let me know if it worked on their Sony Vaio (should have similiar BIOS) then I will be a bit more confident on my purchase.
View 5 Replies View Relatedif Sony ships the vaios with any kind of sleeve or carrying case by default, or should I order one separately?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWas told that there are a couple of Z690 notebooks with 1366 x 768 resolutions. Is this possible?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was wondering as it's not super clear on the Dell site: Can you return a product if your within your 21 days and not be charged a restocking fee? Will Dell send you a shipping label to return the product or do you pay?
With HP if you were in your 21 days they would issue you a full refund and all you had to do was ship the laptop back and they sent you a label.
I'm referring to Notebooks on here.
Trying to get rid of these questionably useful programs -- but I don't see entries for them in add/remove programs in the control panel (or for any of the other useless VAIO software packages that come on OEM machines sans "fresh start")
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm going to be sending back my sxps 1645 to dell. It seems like this whole model is buggy and I don't feel like paying good money to be their beta tester. So I'm wondering what the best way to wipe my solid state drive is.
What is the best way to ensure private data is completely gone on an SSD before it goes back?
Well I almost feel "heartbroken" over this whole affair. I finally got the machine yesterday and have had 2 days of pure customer service horror.
The overall look of the laptop, the promised features, the feel of it - all FANTASTIC. I fell in love with the machine the moment it arrived. Then.. I tried to connect my WiFi.
The WiFi was completely defective. Unable to connect to any wireless network. After hours and hours with technical support, an in home tech, and more customer service headache .....
I seem to be the only one here with constant probs with my 6400 so after speaking to DELL today, im returning my laptop for a new one.
What I want to know is should I swap out my nVidia GPU for the Intel? I think thats whats causing my therma/fan issues and maybe overheating the system as well (being that I use two external monitors with a dock).
what does it mean by returning with credit? does it mean that i cannot get the full amount i paid, but instead i can buy other dell computer with the credit?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got my Dell Studio XPS 16 2 weeks ago. The optical drive of it is DVD drive, but I would like to change it to Blue ray drive. I made a call to Dell and asked if I could change the DVD drive to Blue Ray drive,
however, I was told that for the dell studio xps 16, once the DVD drive has been a part of the laptop, it cannot be changed as it is a slot loading drive .....
I bought a Dell Mini 9 from the outlet and its already shipped. I'm having second thoughts though because of the $245 deal through Sam's club for a brand new one when I payed $230 for a used one.
I'm also not sure if I even need a netbook since I have a XPS M1530 and want to hold off until the 09 Fall Semester to get a netbook (if I decide I want one).
So my question is this: Would I be charged a 15% restocking fee if I refuse delivery? Would I be charged a 15% restocking fee for returning through Dell? Does it depend on whether I open the box or not? Would I have to pay for shipping?/not be refunded shipping/taxes?
i received my brand new studio laptop and stupid me droped it in the first 20 min of taking it out of the box and now the left side plastic is stickin out and its damaged, but its working fine.
question is can i return it and get it replaced? since its been like 1 day i got it.
what some of you that have returned this model had to pay for restocking? i am planning on returning mine very soon and need to know what price im looking at as far as that goes.. oh and i purchased mine online straight from dell.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI purchased the XPS 1330 January 2008, and it has been giving me problems forever. I got my motherboard replaced 4 times, 4 new heatsinks, a new CPU, a new Monitor. Additionally, the service I have received was very poor.
Is there a department I could call to try and return this? Also, now finally, they agreed to do a swap, and to top it off, they are sending me the wrong keyboard layout. I purchased the laptop in Canada (US Keyboard layout) and I am currently in the UK. I have 3 years international warranty. When I filed the swap with the first technician, I asked specifically for a US keyboard; however, upon calling today, I was told, I would be given a UK Keyboard instead.
So, anyone know what I can do? Or better yet, anyone want to take this laptop off my hands (you will obviously get the swap).
HP is sending me a replacement pc, and i'm sending this current one back. They told me I dont need to include the battery or AC adapter, the just the main unit. So my question is, what if i open this sucker up and take more free goodies? I owe them a good screwjob.

go ahead, mac my day
a Macintosh girl in a Microsoft world
Word team blog
Q&A: is Visual Basic returning to Office:Mac?
My post about questions we got at Macworld 2010 raised some questions, one of which was this one:
The biggest question in my mind is: will Office 2011 support visual basic for excel?
Yes. We announced in 2008 that Visual Basic for Applications will return to the next version of Office (you can read the blog post about it here: saying hello (again) to Visual Basic). And it's still true: Office:Mac 2011 will support VBA....
Are you returning your XPS 1645?
1. Yes, I am returning it or already returned it.
2. Yes, unless the throttling problem is fixed.
3. I will keep it and use Throttlestop until DELL fixes the problem.
4. I love it, I will keep it either way.
I bought a M2400 some days ago. I like it for most of the features: eSata, nice docking station, nice LED screen, backlite keyboard, etc.
But I can't live with the noisy fan that is on way too often when the laptop is docked.
I mean, I'm not using some CPU intentive programs here, I'm browsing the web and listening to music and the fan turns on!
Well I screwed up.
I ordered a new studio 17, good specs and all for my girlfriend- but its way too big and heavy for her...and she absolutely hates the extra five finger key set...
So there is nothing physically wrong with the unit, but I would like to return it, without paying the restocking fee.
So I confirmed that my graphics card is dying/burning out. I called HP Support and they told me to send it back in. My screen starts pixelating when i play games and occasionally my graphics driver fails and I get a blue screen signaling that my graphics card is definitely dying.
My question is: Can I ask HP for any upgrades or improvements since this apparently a manufacturing defect and it is not my fault? Can I be compensated for the 2 weeks + that it will take for my computer to be fixed?
I'm trying to recover my friend's Aspire 5100 to factory default. I booted with the factory default CDs he had made. The problem i'm having is that when Vista starts up and the Acer programs are being installed (a 5 step process) the installation seems to freeze on step 4 (the eRecovery installation part)
I rebooted the computer and now when vista starts it begins trying to install the remaining 2 stages of the ACER setup.
Is there someway around this problem.
Basically, I'm wondering if i can eliminate this process and just install that stuff manually. Vista seems to have reinstalled fine, but i don't know how to get around the ACER setup.
I wrote Acer about the problem and all they could suggest was using the recovery on the hidden partition, which i'm pretty sure isn't there.
Will HP offer a new series of Notebooks this year? Specifically 17 inch? I am assuming the 18 inch HDX and 16 inch HDX will be just getting spec upgrades.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI been working part time in computer service for 2 years now. Most notebook that come in are Dells, while Dell owns only 30% of Ukrainian laptop market. I have seen Dells that literally fall apart while under 3 years of usage. Most low to middle price boxes seem to be build from cheap plastic and 2nd grade parts.
Am I mistaken, is it a local phenomenon? What are your opinions of Dell notebooks?
