Sony :: Specific Neoprene Sleeves For FW Series
Aug 6, 2009I need to buy a sleeve for my FW so i can put it secured in my backpack, suggest sleeves that give a snug,tight fit and can be found online?
I ve seen on the official forum people suggesting sleeves from Case logic but couldn't find which particular sleeve did they use. there are for 15,4", the 16", 17" and even one for Macbook. Since it's elastic neoprene i suppose there are many options.
I can't get the official sony sleeve ( vgp-amc7 ) because it is not available in my country and I coudn't find it in online stores or ebay, at least not without paying triple its price for shipping it overseas

Apr 12, 2009Im looking for cases or sleeves for a sony fw laptop, i dont really like the boring black laptop bags that you see a lot of, id prefer something a little better looking, if anyone has a laptop bag for an fw and could post pictures i would be very grateful.
I havent come across many 16" laptop sleeves which is frustrating, apart from one from sony themselves.

Apr 6, 2009I'd really like a SSD drive as I need speed over storage. So I'm wondering if it possible to install a SSD drive in a Vaio SR laptop. What do I do about drivers?
I have my choices down between a Lenovo X301 with a SSD and a Vaio SR210 without a SSD. I like the looks of the Vaio better, but I'm willing to pay for a SSD premium.
If anyone has had any success installing a SSD in a Vaio laptop(where SSD's are not an option) I'd love to hear about it?

Feb 14, 2010What is the creme de la creme in Sony notebooks that are gaming capable? Gaming for me are Strat games, Starcraft 2, maybe Crysis....
I want something solid, and at least midrange with respect to gaming. I don't care how much it costs.
I haven't checked Sony in a long long time and F series, CW, etc are confusing and I need to get up to speed quickly. Quality is paramount.

Jul 7, 2009A friend of mine has this model ( zd8180ea) and is having a peculiar problem. When he edits documents or surfs the web his keyboard fails to type some letters. He writes a word and some letters do not show up. Often space fails to work and words, attempts of words, are linked together. I am not a big HP expert but I think there is a faulty keyboard connection. I could be wrong and a software solution is available. Can anyone give me a hand?

Jun 24, 2014I have a problem with my Lenovo IdeaPad S206. Display isn't works correctly: sometimes it turns dark, especcialy when opening/closing notebook.
I think it's problem with LCD cable, but warranty period has timed out.

I've replaced many drives on Sony's in the past (particularly since they didn't offer 7200 RPM large drives on many models previously) but I had the help of on online manual someone created on how to take the previous sony's apart and they all had IDE or SATA drives

Jan 10, 2010I bought a Z in July and notice the battery time is short and short? in July it can last more than 2.5 hours even at 80% charge, now is 1 hour only, is battery care working? I think Sony is quite poor in battery management area, they should provide a application list thinkpad to test the current then tell you how long it can last.

Mar 29, 2009I know that my notebook came with the Sony® Notebook Setup utility program but I lost this recovery disks that came with this notebook so I did have to buy Windows XP Home and did a clean installation of it. I did get the drivers from esupport.sony.com but I can't find the Sony Notebook Setup utility program.
Does anyone know how I can download this and install this on my notebook? It's a program that tells the specs of my PC.

Jan 22, 2010i'm planning on buying the new Z when its available and i decided if i'm spending that much money on a laptop i'm going to need a heavy duty case to carry it in. So the case i was thinking about carrying it in is a Pelican 1090cc or the Pelican 1080CC if the Z could fit. I just had a few questions, will the Z and the adapter fit or just the Z? and also will this case because it is padded, add to much pressure on the screen causing it to leave permanent marks for the keyboard or palm rest?

2. Will the Z fit in the 1090CC?
3. Will the adapter fit in either or both?

Sep 30, 2009I'm thinking about changing my HDD, since it's a 4200rpm 200GB.
I was thinking about getting a Samsung SATAII 7200rpm( storage doesn't matter that much, I already own an external device, as long as it's not less than my current HDD ).
But I was told that my Vaio model, VGN FZ140E, doesn't support SATAII. So I'd have to choose a SATA 5400rpm HDD.
I'd like to ask you how can I check it this is true. If so, would changing my HDD be a noticeable upgrade?
Also, among these brands, which one would you choose( for better performance, low noise, low energy comsumption etc. ): Samsung, WD or Seagate?

Sony :: Vaio Notebook-cant Boot W/ External Drive

Trying to install OS with external CD/DVD drive to no avail. Have done everything possible including:
-tried 3 different externals drives
-attempted BIOS BOOT ORDER: BOOT FROM CD/DVD and tried REMOVABLE DEVICE setting
-attemped 'esc' one time BOOT ORDER at startup...attempted both CD/DVD and REMOVABLE DEVICE
System doesnt recognize EXTERNAL CD/DVD in BIOS....only in WINDOWS..after machine fully starts up. Looked for any kind of UPDATE for DRIVERS OR BIOS on SONY SUPPORT for this model...there is none.

Which series is better? The B series is for business. This series is only 5.9lbs with 15.4'. On the other hand, the CW series is around 5.5 lbs and it is only 14'. What do you think? Have you ever try B series? 15.4' is pretty good for movie.
