Sony :: Installing A SSD In A SR Series Notebook, Will This Work

I'd really like a SSD drive as I need speed over storage. So I'm wondering if it possible to install a SSD drive in a Vaio SR laptop. What do I do about drivers?
I have my choices down between a Lenovo X301 with a SSD and a Vaio SR210 without a SSD. I like the looks of the Vaio better, but I'm willing to pay for a SSD premium.
If anyone has had any success installing a SSD in a Vaio laptop(where SSD's are not an option) I'd love to hear about it?

What is the creme de la creme in Sony notebooks that are gaming capable? Gaming for me are Strat games, Starcraft 2, maybe Crysis....
I want something solid, and at least midrange with respect to gaming. I don't care how much it costs.
I haven't checked Sony in a long long time and F series, CW, etc are confusing and I need to get up to speed quickly. Quality is paramount.

After installing the windows 8.1 update i can't get the sound to work on my tv. When i connect me laptop to the tv by a HDMI cable the sound doesn't work. The playback option is already set to 'realtek digital output' and i installed the latest drivers.
When i check my device manager i see that the high definition audio has got a exclamation mark on it,
but when i try to install de latest drivers trough the device manager it says that the latest drivers are already istalled.
Well i just don't no a sollution for this problem, and it would be nice to watch movies with sound on my tv again

I heard that you could buy cables to connect the xbox360 to a computer monitor which should also work on a laptop and I'd like to know if it was possible to connect the 360 to the F series notebooks?

I have a generally very nice install of Win7 Ultimate on a new SSD. But I can't control the screen backlighting or use the volume buttons. Other things I don't have that I could do without, but would be nice are the AV buttons. Not sure how well the stock Window power management is. I've tried loading a mess of the drivers from the TX850P/B Vista drivers page. There is a thread saying this the drivers work, but the drivers linked to in that thread to not match what is being discussed? Windows 7 Installation for Sony Vaio TX Series with ALL Sony Functions

Is it me, or do these massive Official VAIO blah Series Owners Threads not work to well?
They're tooo big and very dificult to find things buried in them.
I think forums work better when you have a specific problem and start a new thread on that... then people respond to help in that thread... And the conversation is so much less likely to go off on a tangent...
I.e. use these forums how they are normally used... One thread per subject. Most people are pretty good a adding the model in the subject if it's needed. This should make it a whole lot easier to browse thru and find stuff that it is right now...

have bought a new Acer Aspire V5 573G without a system software. Now I want to install Windows 7 home premium 64bit on it but it doesn't work. First of all: Is it generally possible to do this? I tried to install it in the recovery mode but there was an error (something with the GPT Partition) so I switched the Mode to UEFI. I have read in other message boards that I have to switch to UEFI csm (compatibility support mode) but I can't find it.

I just received a refurbished M4400 and had no problem changing it to the A03 bios.
When I tried to install the latest Nvidia 179.48 notebook gpu driver (for Windows XP -32 bit), I get the following message...
"The Nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatable with your current hardware. Setup will now terminate."
Can anyone tell me why this gpu driver will not load? Do I have to do something different in order to get this driver to be accepted by this M770 business gpu?

I got a HP 650 Notebook PC and sometimes my keyboard don't works . When are not working , i press all keys and it's start's to work .I need a new keyboard? i am using Windows 8.1 .The they that are not working sometimes are Tab Key , T , Y , F3 , F6 , F10 and Home . I recently had to open up my HP G7 laptop to blow the dust of my fan and under the keyboard. When I put they keyboard back together, my wifi didn't work. I'm now on a ethernet connection. Opening network connection, there's no wifi adapter icon. I've tried installing the driver, but mid install I get this message "The driver files you wish to remove will not be removed as the corresponding card is not installed". I don't know what this means, but when I finish the install, the wireless connection is still not shown in network connections, and the driver doesnt show on device manager. What else can I try?

I have downloaded and installed all the latest drivers to date from HP website: [URL] ....
I have already read some forum posts and did some steps like:
1: install latest drivers for Ralink bluetooth device
2: Uninstall the Ralink bluetooth device
3: Disabled Ralink bluetooth device from device manager
But nothing worked for me.

I just purchased a HP 15-r014TU Notebook, which comes with FreeDOS as I purchased a Windows 8.1 license as part of a student deal in campus.
I used the official Windows USB installer to make a bootable USB of the ISO file. It booted fine, but after selecting the install option, I recieved a error that said "Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Just bought a U530 Touch ultrabook (from Lenovo Canada website) and waiting for arrival. The configuration comes with a "Hybrid 500G 5400RPM SSHD(8G)". I want to install an larger capacity SSD drive, either replacing the original HDD or as an additional drive. I may buy a 2.5" SSD (7mm) or I might buy a mSATA SSD (about 256 GB).
I have several questions.
1. Does this version of the U530 have an mSATA slot to install an mSATA SSD as an additional drive?
2. Can I replace the original HDD with a 2.5" SSD (as the only drive) and migrate everything (including Windows 8 OS) to the SSD? If so, please provide specific instructions.

The truth is I had assumed all U530s would come with an mSATA connection/slot since other configurations can come with a 1TB HDD + 16GB SSD. I'm interested in the mSATA SDD as the only drive for the weight savings and the lower running temperatures and longer battery life.

I was installing ubuntu14.04 alongside windows 8 on my Y510P . In the option where it asks whether to install a fresh copy or install it alongside, i accidentally selected install a fresh copy and clicked on next.
After realizing my mistake, I cancelled the installation.
But after that my pc wont boot.Everything was gone from my hard disk below is the screenshot from disk manager.

Because G510 wasn't really Windows 7 compatible, I decided to upgrade to Windows 8.1. But after the upgrade, there's no more Bluetooth. When I run Bluetooth setup from drivers DVD, it doesn't install because it can't find required device. Also at tjhe Device Manager, it doesn't show anything related to Bluetooth.
What happened to Bluetooth and how can I get it back?

I installed some Corsair Ram in slot 1 and 2 underneath the keyboard and after reinstalling the keyboard Ive noticed theres a gap at the top of the keyboard where it slots into the computer the whole way across specifically in the middle where theres alot of flex. The plastic which has the power and volume buttons seems to move around when pressed. This seems to be letting in dust and would especially allow a spill to enter the machine. This doesn't seem normal for a well built machine and have I installed the keyboard wrong?

Is there a possibility of installing a 3G/LTE module on the Thinkpad Yoga? To my understanding there is an m.sata slot on the Yoga that allows for us to put extra SSD hard drives on it. Is it possible to replace it?
If not, are there other methods other than using usb-dongles or hotspots?

I had to reisntall the factory default software to original. The problem is the Wifi and bluetooth drivers do not install. I tried installing several versions from the lenovo download site but i either get "No Matched Wireless or nothing depending on which one I try to install.
The Laptop is a Lenovo B570, Model Name 1068. Running Windows 7 64 bit.

I just brought dell inspiron 15 3000 series laptop with Ubuntu and installed windows 8.
For some reasons it does not show mouse cursor. during installation it doesn't show cursor and after installation it is not showing cursor at all.
I installed dell touch pad drivers with all other important chipset drivers but still cursor disappear.
Strange thing is, when i plugin external mouse then cursor appears and when i remove external mouse then again cursor disappear magically.

I was able to install and configure all drivers but one. I found a tread that suggested installing Lenovo Setting Dependency Package 2.0.0.13 to fix it on a different lenovo model. I tried it without any success.

Its been quite a while (3 months ) that ive upgraded my windows 8 to 8.1 . I didn't bother checking it till now that I cannot connect to any ethernet network at all. Ive tried evrything from disabling ipv6, updating network drivers and even resetting the routers like a gazillion times but i've had no such luck in any of the process ive done so far .

I want to do this: Wipe out my Lenovo Thinkpad X220 HDD and install a fresh operating system, so what are the things to do before wiping out my laptap.
What I have:
1. 4GB usb with Windows 7 installer
2. My laptap have 1 hdd, partitioned into two
a. 97.9 GB ( where my OS is installed)
b. 200 GB (where my personal files is stored)
