I've read in other forums that uninstalling the webcam driver and reinstalling it doens't work. I really need the webcam to work so this is pretty urgent for me.

Mar 3, 2013When I turn my Dell Inspiron 7720 on, integrated webcam often does not work. Camera app in Windows 8 shows "there's a problem with a camera", other apps also show error messages or just a black screen.
After several resets the camera may start to work properly till the next reset. The camera is always shown in the Device Manager without errors and in the USBView I see that at least USB descriptors are correct. Moreover, after several disable/enable cycles in device manager the camera may start to work.
I've created two HDD partitions and installed Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8 Pro (both from original ISO files downloaded from MSDN). On clear Win 8 the camera shows the same problem, but on Win 7 it works properly.
There is no camera driver for Inspiron 7720 on the Dell web-site, thus I've used standard Microsoft driver on both Win 7 and Win 8.
I'm still not sure is it a hardware problem, because it is reproduced only with Windows 8. The computer was initially sold with Ubuntu, but Windows 8 is in the list of supported OS.
Camera IDs are: VID = 0C45 (Sonix), PID = 648D, REV = 2206.

Feb 5, 2015I have the hp stream 13 for couple days now. The first time I skyped the webcam worked. Now when I try to access the camera it says "to get started connect camera". And so when I try to skype there is no video icon. Under imaging devices I see "hd truevison hd" and when I click on it it says it's not connected. So annoying and frustrating because I just bought this laptop.

Aug 20, 2014I have tried in Windows 7 64bit and 8 64bit and have had no luck.
I have googled all over and found some hints on this forum to try installing Communication Manager, but it does not solve anything. It's like the camera is not seen.
I know the camera is not broken or disconnected because LINUX of all things can see it and use it.
On the X201 page there are no drivers for the camera at all, only the communication manager install. For Win 8 it is listed that the drivers are built into Windows 8, but as far as I can tell this is not the case, unless i am doing something wrong?
How to get working webcam with X201 at all in Windows?

Then formated and installed Win7 Pro 64bit. i managed to get everything else in working order except i would like to occasionally turn off the touchpad. i use a mouse for games and such and the hot key doesnt work to turn it off. BTW every other hot key does what its intended to do.

Feb 26, 2014Overnight, my Z470's wifi stopped work. The switch nor FN seems to turn the wifi on again, but I dont think the device is damaged or something. I tried everything I could.
1) Update driver / Uninstall and update driver / delete and update driver
2) Try to work on WLAN in services.msc but I couldn't find it in there
3) Some people says that could be the power management, I'm still trying to find the compatible version.
So, what else can I do? I don't wanna to format my machine!

Lenovo U/S Series :: U530 - Win 7 Downgrade / WiFi Doesn't Work
Aug 25, 2014I have a new U530 I just bought. I need windows 7, so I did a downgrade. I downloaded all the Win7 drivers, and managed to make everything happy except no Wifi. The Win7 drivers on the support site don't have the the hardware ID for this wifi card. In windows 8 it shows Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter, with PCVEN)14E4&DEV_43B1&SUBSYS_062E17AA&REV_03, which does not show up in the .inf file for the drivers that install from the wl05w7.exe driver file. Also the setup quits without graceful finish, even if I right click and do run as administrator.
I purchased two of these laptops, but one needs to work with Win 7. I'm willing to switch out the wifi card if you have something that works with Win 7.
Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: Y510p - OKR Backs Up But Novo Button Doesn't Work
Apr 3, 2014I migrated win 8.1 to the ssd on my wd black2 (128ssd + 1tb hdd). It also took the first two partitions shown. I then activated the 1tb drive and copied the next two paritions to the SSD in the same sequence and size as original drive.
Then I copied the other remaining paritions to the END of my 1tb hdd. So all partitions are there same sizes same sequences as before execpt for the hdd in the middle. See screenshot.
One key makes a backup to the 1tb hdd which is what I wanted so as to save space on the SSD. But the novo button does not work which makes it useless. How can I fix this?
I know theres lots of threads on this but this is specific to having the partitions split on the ssd and the hdd.
Drive 0 is the ssd/hdd drive 1 is the original drive ( that okr worked on) its a y510p

Nov 27, 2007The trackpoint middle scrolling button doesn't work for some of the newer applications such as ITunes, the newest versions of Picasa, Windows Live Mail, Safari, and Windows Live Writer.
Below is a fix applicable to all Windows OS's. The location of the edited file may vary so look in the Device Manager under trackpoint driver details to find driver locations.
The file must be edited as an administrator in Vista and Windows 7. To do this, at the programs box type in notepad and on the notpad program in the menu right click and select, "Run as Administrator."
In Win7 x64 it is located at: (edit with Notepad run as Administrator).

sony tech did a repair on my laptop and when he was done, a piece of the trim wasn't flush near the LCD hinge. To fix this, I put a drop of krazy glue under the hinge (it snaps off) on the panel above the keyboard and was able to fix the problem cleanly.
The problem is, I noticed my caps lock light no longer turns on. I have no clue when this could have happened, since it was under a couple repairs before. But, my worry is my warranty. Do you think they'll complain about replacing it if they see I had to glue a piece together? On the other hand, the light module screws into this panel so, technically they don't need to replace this panel, just the light module.

All Sony software ist installed correctly and in the newest version I found.
As in many threads mentioned I followed the right order. But I still cannot adjust the brightness in speed mode

Apr 6, 2009I'd really like a SSD drive as I need speed over storage. So I'm wondering if it possible to install a SSD drive in a Vaio SR laptop. What do I do about drivers?
I have my choices down between a Lenovo X301 with a SSD and a Vaio SR210 without a SSD. I like the looks of the Vaio better, but I'm willing to pay for a SSD premium.
If anyone has had any success installing a SSD in a Vaio laptop(where SSD's are not an option) I'd love to hear about it?
