Sony :: FW Series W7 Upgrade Error Code: 0x80070017
Jan 1, 2010
Alright so i have been trying to upgrade from home premium 64bit vista to W7 with my upgrade disc and i am out of idea. Every time i try to run the upgrade i get an error saying
"Windows cannot copy files required for installation. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017"
The niece brought her Acer Aspire 3680-2682 laptop to me it would not boot to windows, after POST getting an error message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
system32hal.dll Please reinstall a copy of the above file
but before that, when I power on the unit, it says: Please select the OS to start: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Strange thing with the above is that this is supposed to be a Vista unit so why are those OS showing up? Anyway when I try to reload the OS, I am getting this error:
Installation was cancelled Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017
So, Lenovo thinks my hard drive was failing on my G500. They send me a hard drive and 4 Lenovo recovery discs. I install everything properly and I get a Windows activation error.
I call Lenovo and they verify the O/S and the hard drive are properly installed. However, they tell me they cannot give me a license key and I must ship my laptop back to Lenovo so they can install a license key. Does this make sense?
The windows activation error code is 0xC004C003.
Now, what was interesting is when the rep took remote control of my machine, I saw it was registered under my son's email address and not mine (I entered mine when I did the login after the reinstall) and how/why it shows my son's address.
I recently got a CD-ROM that was for the PCGA-DSM51 and other docking stations. The reason why I got this since my original CD-ROM isn't working right anymore. But the problem I' am having is that it says that my CD-ROM is "epson dl-v100 ieee 1394 sbp2 device"
I don't think Windows XP detected the CD-ROM right since it gives a code 10 error and can't start. I basicaly need help so I can make my CD-ROM work right.
I got Vaio FZ190 with faulty Nvidia chip, then i had my motherboard replaced. The problem is i cannot restore my C: drive using DVD i made. So, i tried hidden partition by press F10 and is also not working. Here is the code i got while i was trying to do so,
"Cannot use this recovery disc for this computer. Confirm the model number"
when I click Ok, this message appears
"error: CompareSnyIniToPacIni, Error: 92"
Then I click OK and it drops me back to the Vaio recovery centre and this cycle will happen again when I repeat to restore drive c.
Both DVD and hidden partition was working just fine before i had my motherboard replaced. I search all thread and find out that system recovery will check my BIOS before it can restroe my C: drive so i try to reset BIOS setting by pressing F9 in BIOS setting and it's still not working. Now, i can use my vaio just fine but i can't restore my C: drive.
I had an error code 43, then I uninstalled the driver, rebooted my computer and I can't see it in the device manager anymore. What should I do ? It was previously listed as a Lenovo VHID device, but I can't see that in the device manager either. It also doesn't show up as an unknown device.
I have little knowledge of computer hardware, and I'd like to know what this driver does and what happens if I don't have it, and how do I reinstall it.
I had recently upgraded my RAM (laptop in sig.) from 2GB to 4GB. Now, once in a while when I boot up, a POST BIOS "Error 0232: Extended RAM failed at address line 21" error message is displayed. I can then either boot normally or enter the BIOS setup and the OS (Win 7 64-bit) is working normally and recognizes all 4GB of RAM. I dual boot with Vista 32-bit, which uses 3GB of RAM.
I did the Windows Memory diagnostic upon boot up and it didn't find any error with the memory. I searched online without any conclusive solution.
I am getting error code 80070490 every time I try to do Windows updates. I have done the system restore as far back as I could and this did not solve the problem. I am going to be putting a new hard drive in the computer, but would like this problem to be resolved first.
I am trying to copy some dmg files from my mbp to an external hard drive (a western digital 1tb essential, and a 250gb wd passport). I get this "error code 0" when I try to copy the files larger than 4gb. Now I heard that this is because it is a fat32 drive or something like that. Is there a way to fix this without buying a different hard drive?
I am having a major issue with my Dell XPS L702x laptop at the moment, in that it cannot boot up at all, rendering it completely unusable.
When this first happened, the laptop used to progress through the dell screen, the 'starting windows' screen, and then just hang at a blank screen, or with a blank screen with the windows 7 background and a mouse cursor. This happened in both normal startup and attempting safe mode.
I have tried starting in best last known configuration, resetting the bios to default settings. I eventually got startup repair to work, but it didn't do anything, nor did system restore.
I run diagnostics, and receive this error right at the beginning of the test:
ERROR CODE 0146.
Msg: Error Code 2000-0146
Msg: Hard Drive 0 - self test log contains previous error(s).
I continue the diagnostics and everything else passes okay.
However, now when I try to boot my PC up in normal or in safe mode, I get past the dell and windows startup screen and instead of the hang I simply get a blue screen error:
BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO.
STOP: 0x00000074
I have also had the blue screen errors c000021a, and 0xc0000221. But primarily am now getting the bad_system_config_info every time.
Ok, i found the solution for my Acer P3-171. I uninstalled Аcer cradle driver (by starting the installer downloaded from official site). Then i installed video driver for Windows 8.1 and everything now works fine.
Fan on Inspiron 1520 not coming on. Diagnostics gave error code "3700:011B". Took fan out (it wasn't even dirty) and jumpered red & black wires (p.s. don't know what yellow wire is for) to a 5 volt dc power source - fan worked fine. Put laptop all back together - fan still not coming on...
I'm no computer genius but I'm no 'dummy' either. I tried like heck to resolve this problem but just cannot figure it out. I called Dell cust svc but they want $49 to talk to INDIA! ugh.
I need a response from someone who at least "writes" English! Bought my mom a notebook a few years ago and it was just fine until recently when my niece
tried to get on and got the Administrator's login box (blank screen underneath) - nothing before it except the Windows logo with the little boxes blinking across. No matter what we do, it won't allow a bypass ......
I have an Inspiron 1505 about five years old. Lately my computer has been freezing and shutting down for no reason. I can be just reading and it'll freeze. This isn't the first time it has been happening. Back in April I had the same problem. The error message indicated that my hard drive was going bad so it was replaced. Now it's doing it again. This time I got error code M1004. From what I read, this is something about heating. What I have noticed is that the bottom of my laptop runs extremely hot. Will getting a cooling pad?
I have Dell Studio 1558 laptop, when i switch ON it is not booting.. i can hear the sound of fan & the Drive but i cant see anything on the screen, sometimes it will boot up but it will work for only 10 mins then the screen will go off & will never come ON again.
When i ran the Diagnostics by pressing F12 during startup i got an error message
I have a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop that is 2 weeks out of warranty, and have only owned this laptop for 1 year from new. On Jan. 1 2015 i started my new year with a 2000-0142 code as i started up my computer, so i could skype my family and friends wishing them a happy new year. After doing some serious investigating with family, friends and the internet i found that this is a common problem with Dell's Hard Drive's and they seem to do nothing to rectify this issue...
I'm currently using my laptop for 2 months and today when I shut down my Dell Inspiron 15 a while ago and open it again after an hour I continuously get this error
Your PC ran into Problem and it needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. If you'd like to know more you can search online later for this error. 0xc000021a
After it automatically restart it says: RECOVERY .... Your PC couldn't start properly
After multiple tries, the operating system on your pc failed to start, so it needs to be repaired Error code: 0xc0000001
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have an installation media (like a disc or USB devices), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
My laptop model is DELL XPS 11. when i press the power on button, the Dell logo came out and it loads "preparing automatic repair...", then the whole screen turned black, there is nothing on the screen but I can only see the mouse cursor.
What did i do?I rebooted the laptop and immediately pressed F12 to go into diagnotics. After scanning, there was an error code 2000-0142 and the error message was Hard drive 0 - short self test unsuccessful. I even tried to use recovery media to factory reset my laptop, but it failed.I did not open up my laptop to check for any cable connection problems, because I dont know if it will void my warranty. My laptop is still under warranty.
I have an HP mini 1000 that a friend gave me. It is asking for a password at the startup before windows kicks in. My friend doesn't remember the password and after 3 failed attempts. How do I get the bios password based on this error code?
I have an Inspiron N5050 that is 8 mos old and is rarely used. When turned on, it shows windows loading files bar, then a start up repair screen but does not go beyond that. When I exit that screen, it shuts down. I restarted it and ran the F12 diagnostic test and it showed a fail with error code 2000-0142. This should still be under warranty because I bought the computer on 8/4/12. Is there anything I can do on my side or will this need to be returned to Dell for evaluation?
