Dell :: Increasing RAM
Apr 10, 2009Down to about 10% RAM on the Inspiron. A friend said go to ww.crucial.com and I can buy two new RAM chips with greater capacity to replace the two original.. I am a non-techie. Can I do this? How would I install them? Is there any follow-up or issues after they are installed

Oct 31, 2014My Dell Inspirion 15r has developed a really annoying issue.
When running on battery mode (Yet to test on a/c power) the screen will randomly increase in brightness and then decrease instantly. (Almost like a flash)
This happens at random occasions so not constantly but in a 10 minute period it probably happens 6-7 times.
Ive checked and updated the video driver and chipset driver and disable the adaptive brightness settings, however the issue still remains.
In regards to the dell intelligent display option I can't tell if this actually has fully disabled.
Laptop is running windows 8.1 OS.

Apr 29, 2010I got my new Sony Vaio NW 275 with blu ray and the ati 4570. I formatted the HD and installed a new copy of Windows 7 64 bit. I also have Powerdvd and Arcsoft total media theater. When I launch one of these programs it will start fine. But when I click the play button to play either a DVD or Blu-Ray the apps both crash everytime. And they are all patched up to the latest version. Am I missing something here? Did I not install something after I formatted?

May 4, 2009I've had this laptop for a little less than 4 years. No real problems to report. It runs on Dual core processor and Windows XP SP3. For awhile it used to make a lot of noise and it got hot. The noise issue would come and go, figured it was just the processor.
Now all of the sudden the noise stopped. Got speedfan to see what temp was and my core 1 is about 87C. (i can post more temps later, but currently am at work). Now i don't know if i should worry and purchase a fan? or just get an external cooling fan since i plan on getting new computer in about a year.
Now if the problem is the fan, does it matter what fan i purchase or can it be generic. I guess what i need to know if this is common for sz320p's or if i should worry. Laptop still runs fine, never shuts off for any random reason (except for snood), Loads programs fine, and i never get a blue screen.
Sony :: Laptop Doesn't Boot
Feb 10, 2009Today I opened (only by removing the bezel) it up and saw the connector that was making to problem. I took out the screen to have a better look at it. I did this by simply unplugging one cable. I had a look at it and put it back in. During the process I saw the power indicator flash. Then when I turned it on after reinserting the screen, the laptop did not turn on at all. Also, the power indicator doesn't light up either.

Sep 4, 2009I have an Sony laptop and when I shut it down I cant turn it back on unless I take out battery and reinsert it. The LED for power stays on until the battery is taken out. I can restart the laptop with no hassle, the problem only occur s if I shut it down and come back and try to turn it on. Other than this problem the laptop seems to be working fine

Dec 10, 2009I have a Sony Vaio Laptop. Its warranty ended 7th December. Phoned them to get it picked up and now they have it so any work should be covered under warranty.
There is a particle under the screen. I took a picture of it and emailed it to Sony who diagnosed it as dead pixels. They said they would repair it for free under warranty.
Now that they have the laptop they say there is a particle under the screen. They sent me a picture of it and the photo looks identical to what I sent them earlier which they diagnosed dead pixels.
Now they are saying it was accidental damage by me and want to charge to replace the screen (same price as I paid for the laptop).
I think that this is ridiculous and that they should repair it under warranty. They will not accept these two arguments:
1. If I damaged it then I would have had to have opened the screen which there should be evidence of.
2. If the particle got in some other way through a gap then it is a manufacturing flaw because there should be no way of a particle getting in there.
