Still owning an old Sony SZ1XP laptop and was wondering if anyone have ever replaced the stock HD with a newer 7200 RPM HD

Does this mean i can only fit a harddrive of max. 120gb in the laptop?
otherwise that it is possible to put a bigger sized hd
Just wondering to all those with an Ispiron 9300 what is the maximum supported hard drive size. According to dell chat it is 100Gb...but of course that doesn't mean anything. I have the 9300 with an SATA drive .
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just bought SZ38GP, English XP Pro but I think it is Asian model, similar to European 5 series, the CPU is T7200, and GPU the 7xxx. SZ are perfect for my DJ work, and secondary notebook, I was using the SZ1 till now and wanted to get the best there is from this series, possibly fastest CPU but no 8xxx Nvidia. It came with single 1G RAM, I could put another 1G from my old SZ but would rather have 3G total= add single 2G chip. I remember that SZ1 had 2G RAM limit but cannot find out about the SZ38GP C. Will I be able to use 3G with it ?

500gb 7200rpm HD
1gb graphics w/ 1080p screen
will the speed of the ram limit the fsb of the cpu in any way?
Picked up a great deal on a 1730 with a 128SSD and 320 2nd drive - Does anyone know if the 120 will be faster than if I were to go with 2 7200 rpm drives? The price difference for the SSD is "UP THERE" so I at least want to know if its as fast as a conventional 2 hard drive raid zero approach.
Also does anyone have any links to spec's for the Dell 128SSD? Is it the Memoright 128GB.
I bought a used Acer Aspire One 8.9in Laptop 1.6GHz 1GB 120GB a couple of weeks ago, it works great the only thing that I've noticed is that it only charges the battery while powered on (that is running windows).
If I connect the AC but the laptop is off, it will not charge the battery like any other laptop.
if this is normal for this particular model or is this laptop malfunctioning?
I purchased my M1330 over a year ago, with an internal 120gb hard drive.
I just purchased the HITACHI Travelstar 7K320 from NewEgg, since I'd like a both faster and larger drive.
However, I am curious about the following:
Right now, my hard drive is flush with the side of my laptop. It has a black trim on the side that is the reason for the flush side. It came this way from Dell. However, in purchasing the new hard drive, what can I do to make the side flush again, as well as the hard drive secure (dust, falling out, etc)? Can dell provide the part (side cover)?

any possibility of the sony z12 getting a bigger screen.. a 14" would make it the correct decision for me

I have an older sony 15.4" and even though the new computer has a bigger and wider screen, the pages in the 16:9 are narrower and smaller. They occupy less space on the screen with white borders on the sides. Can it be fixed? I tried to change screen resolution but that does not help.

I'm set on getting a 1080p display in my next laptop and so far, Sony has the best choices! This is coming from someone who has purchased or influenced the purchase of about 17-18 Dell laptops.
I'm looking at buying the CW2, but I can't decide on which screen size to go for. The options are 1366x768 or 1600x900.
My main use is for general internet and Photoshop. I will occasionally watch dvd's and online hd content but this wont be too often.
I've seen 15.6" with 1366x768 displays and they look ok to me. So I assume the 14" with 1366x768 would look the same but maybe a tad sharpen due to the smaller size?
My primary concerna about the 1600x900 is whether it would make text uncomfortably small to read on websites etc. Also when I'm using my graphics tablet in photoshop, some of the options are fiddly to select on my current laptop (13.3" 1280x800) and a 14" 1600x900 would make them even smaller?
I'd love input from you guys with a 14" 1600x900, and equally a 14" 1366x768. Especially those who do image editing on it!
I just got a Sony VPCF115FM. I was wondering if there is a setting for the browser/webpage where it opens up and the size is what I prefer. Meaning that I don't have to keep using "Ctrl +" to enlarge the page.

I just installed my 4 gb of RAM in my Inspiron 9400, fully aware and knowing in advance that I won't be able to use more than 3.25 of it with my Vista Ultimate 64-bit OS...
My question is: WHY? Is it because the Bios can't address the memory in 64-bit? Just for curiosity, is there a way to make the OS bypass the BIOS (If it's the cause) and fully use the 4 GB?
I have a e1705 Geforce go 7900gs oc'd to 450/600. Also I have the power supply that is included with the laptop 90watts. I have seen people here in forums that o'cd there card up to 600 core or more. I flashed my rom using the 375/507 to unlock my bios and then i use rivatuner to overclock my video card coz I want to know the limit of my card. And it reached 455/600 so i underclock it to 450 just for safe distance.
Now, I am using ntune to o'c my card and there is no testing whether it will work with the core I specified so I assume again that its 450/600.
My questions will be,
1. What is the max core/mem overclock that is safe for my 90 watts power supply w/o increasing the voltage to 1.24volts?
2. I create a profile in ntune that I enable the overclock (450/600) everytime I will play 3d games and I get it back (370/507) . Is that ok? Will it harm my videocard?
I got a rev 1 card. I am using a windows vista w/ dell performance driver, 2gb ram and 1.73ghz core duo cpu. Weird I got 152 increase in score in 2005 3dmark when using vista to xp . My score is 7196. And also I don't want to use nibitor to o'cd my card .
The instruction booklet says there is a 2GB limit, and that I can only use two 1GBs. That sucks because it comes with two 512MBs. Is this true, or could I go buy a 2GB DDR2 and replace one of the 512MBs? It's a Acer Aspire 5315-2153.

I've read abit about the 137 GB limit and wanted to know if the motherboard/BIOS for this model supports 48 bit LBA so that i can see the remaining space on the hard drive. I have windows XP pro service pack II installed, but i don't know how to activate 48 bit addressing or if my BIOS suppoerts it.

However I've done a bit more research and I'm starting to fear my notebook may be limited to 3gb by the bios/chipset for some reason. I have just upgraded it from 3gb to 4gb. The bios shows 4gb as the installed amount but memtest in dos mode only shows 3000mb total as does windows task manager.
So it appears the notebook detects the 4gb installed ram but only allocated 3gb.
My question is does anyone know if acer has limited this notebook to 3gb total and if there are any suggestions on getting around this limit?
I set up mail with my Gmail account but I don't want it to download all my messages. Is there a way to set a limit to how many messages get stored in the computer? I have way too many messages and don't want to waste hard disk space.
