I have a 1 yr old Macbook Unibody (13.3"- Late 2008 model).
I have the 2.4Ghz version.
Anyway, here's what I have:
Original Batt Capacity = 4100mAh. Current = 3953mAh (can dip to 3800 at times) Battery Load cycles = 58
I'm currently running on batteries. I only have my browser opened along with some widgets and WIFI. I've taken all energy saving steps as well (lowest possible brightness on screen and keys) Currently sitting on 86% w/ 3 hours left..............
I spent a few hours working with Riva Tuner and drivers and I am now able to see all of the shader info.
If you also want to do this, download the 169.39 drivers for the Quadro 3700 Desktop model, then hack the inf file to include 061c (3700 is 061a) and install the drivers. In Riva Tuner go into the Power Users Settings and set ForceVGADeviceID to 193 (8800 gtx I think) in Vista or 401 (8600GT) in XP. This will allow you to unlock the Low Level System Settings.
The 175.75 drivers will NOT work with Riva Tuner.
Ok, on to what I found. There are a total of 128 stream units in the 3600M. 64 of them are disabled (units 4-7) with no hardware mask. There are a total of 6 raster units in the 3600M. 2 of them are disabled (units 5-6). It appears as though Riva Tuner is not able to re-enable them - at least not in Vista 32. I also tried XP with no luck.
Looking back at the 7900gs to 7900gtx Bios flashing, extra stream units were probably not enabled after the flash, but performance increased. This led me to compare the 8800MGTX info to the 3600M info. I also compared the 3600M to the desktop 3700.........
I was wondering if I buy a Vaio with Windows 7, can I wipe it clean and install a different OS (Xp, or Linux) from my own CDs? Or does it only allow to install the OS that sony provided in the Recovery Partition?
I've done a search and couldn't find anything relevant.
My FZ of 28 months old has suddenly started making a faint buzzing noise from the screen.
At first I thought it was the fan, but I realized it's the LCD. I can't change the brightness for some reason using Windows 7 but it's on Max Bright. I've seen some threads of people having this problem on lowered brightness levels but this is happening on full.
When I shut the lid, the buzzing stops. It can be heard if I stand behind the laptop or place my ear beside either rear corner of the laptop.
I did a clean install of Windows 7. I did not load all that crap from the 2nd CD.I am trying to determine which Drivers I need to install.
I installed the VAIO® Event Service and Sony® Shared Library.
What is strange is, when I click on the FN button and press the increase brightness key, the brightness meter does appear on the screen, but it will not go above the lowest setting.
I own a Vaio VGN-FE770g, and I have recently upgraded my RAM to 2gb plus I bought a SanDisk 4GB Extreme IV Memory Stick Pro Duo to utilize the windows 7 readyboost utility.
I thought this would help with my gaming but it isn't the case. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I play Age of Empires III a lot and I still can't run it at any decent resolution without the screen freezing when a battle is taking place (any other time it is fine).
I looked into the Vaio's graphics capabilities and it said about the dynamic allocated RAM, which i further read can be modified (?). Could anyone offer a simple step by step how to do this? (or some insight as to whether it could/should be done at all).
I was wondering if anyone here knows how to somehow customize or some tricks to perform PgUp and PgDn key without having to press on Fn? because when I'm reading an article,
it's very troublesome to always use two hands left for the Fn key and right for the PgDn key everytime I wanted to go to the next screen.
It would be nice to move the Fn key to the right closer to the PgUp and PgDn key, so at least I only need to use my right hand to skip to the next screen.
I just recently purchased a used VGN-Z520n from ebay.
I noticed there is a small dent on the carbon fiber casing on the Keyboard.
I want to replace that part, but I actually like the black color on the new Z series. Is there a way I can purchase just the Black keyboard housing and replace it on my vaio?
I have recently installed Win7 with all the new drivers so everything works including the brightness adjustment in SPEED mode. However, I am trying to play som computer games in lower resolution such as 800x600. The problem when I do this is that the picture inside the game is not fully scaled over the entire screen. I have tried to use the setting "NVIDIA scaling" inside the NVIDIA control panel, but it always automatically change back to "use my display's built-in scaling". When I instead use the INTEL graphic card the screen is scaled properly over the entire screen but I want to use the NVIDIA card for games.
I am currently using Win7 pro x64 with the newest video drivers from sony support site.
My TV's native resolution is 1366 x 768. My VAIO FW-190 has Intel Chipset and both the Windows built in software and Intel provided graphic card settings software do not show the 1366x768 resolution. I can't find a way to set the Vaio's HDMI output to that resolution.
My Laptop is Vostro 1500 with WXGA (1280x800) and my friend's ASUS G1S with 1680x1050 panel. He doesn't like his panel because everything is too small and we decide to change panel.
Vostro panel woking great with the ASUS G1S, but ASUS panel can not work with Vostro, when turn on, the screen split 2 part in POST and change to dark when log on to windows.
We just change the panel, can not change the inverter. How to solve this problem? Can anyone help me?
swapping the cpu on my acer 5101 to a dual core. The manual says in can take dual core cpu's but I swaped the mk36 single core for a tl50 1.6ghz dual core and it does not work (tried 2 different dual core cpu's). The machine does not boot. I have the newest bios 3.10a .
I am trying to get some basic information on return policies from some different places that sell HP notebooks.
Since I live over three hours driving distance one way from any major electronics store that may carry the HP Envy 15 (such as Best Buy) I am left with the only alternative to see about purchasing a computer online. I'm not completely sure, however, that it will completely fit my needs exactly. So I am trying to find out where I might be able to order an Envy 15 but also have some reassurance that if I do wish to return it for a refund I can do so within a reasonable time.
Sometimes it's hard to tell what places have for their refund policy, especially online. Again, I'd have to be sure that the place offers return for refund and not just return for replacement.
With the application store for the ipod touch and iphone, full blown movie store with TV shows and rentals... the iTunes Store is kind of busting out of its name by the seams, is it not? What is needed here? a new name for iTunes that represents this? nothing splitting up iTunes into multiple apps?
