Is this set up powerful enough to play flight simulator x on decent settings? Anyone who has played the game on this laptop
I own a Studio 1557 that uses an adaptor with 19.5V/4.62A output.
The jack sizes are identical. Can we use each other's adaptors? My assumption is that I might get away with both but that my wife might damage her laptop with my adaptor due to the higher output.
Now for a few days my Vostro 1500 gives me message that power adaptor isn't recognized by DELL ...
and so on. But I didn't change anything this is original power adaptor from the box.
Just this morning I was using my notebook (E1505) for my homework. Than I went to class, plugged it in and the light on the adaptor didnt come on.
I tried different outlets and the same thing.
I unwravelled my cord, and the problem seemed to go away, (for now)
I guess i need to replace my power adaptor.
How long do you think it will take to get a new one?
I have the highest warranty thing Dell offers
I've got an Acer AS1810TZ (originally bought in the US) which I'm going to be using in the UK. Can someone please confirm:
a) That I just need to get a UK power adaptor to run it in the UK.
b) That this one will do the job?
If either of those assumptions are wrong I'd very much like to be corrected and shown a suitable solution -
I received my 1555 today and am absolutely over the moon. Trying to installing Windows 7 RC on at the moment and apart from some small hiccups - due to user erroor everything is going smoothly. BUT
From the moment I plugged in the a/c power adaptor I noticed that every so often it produces a buzzing noise? It happens every 20sec to 1min or so and last between 1sec to 10sec each time. Does anyone's do that? Not only that, it gets pretty hot as well, when I put my hand on it(on the label side) it feels really hot, in fact so hot that I have to take my hand off unless I 'made' myself stay there. Is this normal?
What are your experiences regarding how hot the adaptor gets? A couple of times now I've been viewing a flash video or what ever while browsing and have found that the 90W adaptor has gotten uncomfortably hot to the touch.
i mean it gets hot enough that the label on the back with the adaptor specs has begun to bubble in spots.
I have a new Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook, I've only had it about a month, and just a few days ago when I tried to plug in, as the batter was about to die, it wouldn't register that I was plugging it into the AC adapter. I can't get it to charge at all. I did notice that the small LED on the box on the AC adapter was coming on, so I know it's getting power, it just won't take power to the notebook, could someone tell me if there's a way to check if it's the adapter that's the problem?
It is still under warranty, so I called Acer support, and the guy wouldn't listen to me, he kept interrupting me just saying they'd send a new adapter. I just want to be sure that's the problem.
I'm typing this on my other computer, but my Z has mysteriously encountered some power problems all of a sudden.
I can't turn it on. It just happened all of a sudden. No noise, no lights, no movement.
I did manage to turn it on by taking out the battery, unplugging it, and waiting 6-8 hours afterwards, it would turn on, and in the middle of booting up, it turns off. If I'm lucky, it'll make it all the way into windows and then shut off again.
I have to mention that I have opened up the laptop previously about a month ago, and cleaned the vents and fans off with compressed air, and applied AS5 to the CPU and GPU. Not sure if that's related, but that was a while ago.
are there any sony memory stick adaptors for the 13" macbook pro? can I use a usb sony memory stick adaptor?

So my brand new SR490 is already having some weird power issue. What happens is, the adapter stops powering the computer. This started happening randomly last week. I would be sitting there on the computer, and the screen would dim (I have it set to do this when it goes onto battery power).
I would move the adapter around, make sure it's plugged in right, but that didn't change anything. After a few minutes,
it would switch back to AC power by itself. It was worse last night, when the battery actually died because it wasn't getting a charge. The computer was just sitting on the desk and it kept switching between AC power and the battery .....
I've been all over the internet, gathering whatever info I can find, but I'm stuck. It's a Vaio PCG-FRV26 (PCG-9J5L) that just shut down one day, had a very slight 'burn' smell & will not power on, no lights. Opening it up it was full of dust balls & the fans were filthy - cleaned it real nice with vacuum & compressed air. I replaced the power jack, had it tested & there definitely is power to the board, also had the AC adapter/charger tested & it's good. I also played with various combinations of RAM chips in & out, re-set button, on/off with adapter & battery in/out combinations, holding on button variations etc. Still no lights or power. I've opened it up 3 times now, everything looks new/intact/great.
I have a PDF manual for this series, but cannot find the CMOS battery in the laptop! I don't think the manual is that great, not enough info, detailed explode schematic is not enough, tricky to follow, says where the CMOS/RTC bat is but I can't find it. Is it under the motherboard? do I have to remove MB?
If laptop did overheat - can I re-set it?
Where Can i get a LONGER vaio power cord for my FW? the power cord i got with the laptop is like 2 feet. I have to get a longer one.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a VAIO VGN SZ230P. It has always worked fine. Recently, it has begun to hibernate after about 5 minutes when plugged into its power supply. When on battery, it operates normally. I have tried two different power supplies, same problem. All sleep, hibernation and power setting are off, yet it still happens. All virus and malware scans come up clean.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Vaio Z550N and although it was working perfectly until this point, now I am having the issue of the computer freezing up (completely non-responsive) when I re-attach it to the AC adapter after having had it on battery power.
It doesn't happen every time... but it is enough to be exceedingly irritating. The only major change I have made to my computer recently is upgrading the BIOS to the latest version from the Sony Support site.
I know of course that the current Sony utilities are not really meant for Windows 7.
However, does anyone have Windows 7 RC with the VAIO Power Management utility installed?
If so, do you also see the issue where the PM plan is not called 'VAIO Optimized' but rather something like 'SPMResMui.dll,-100'? If you do not see this, could you please tell me the version of VAIO Power Management you are using?
My adaptor for my battery of the VPCZ1 gets very hot. Also when I listen to it, it makes a watery sound.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a 12'' sony vaio with a 16V power adapter. My battery is not good anymore, it was not even holding for 20Min, but my problem now is that the computer does not turn on without the battery at all. I have to leave it charging for hours, then it will go on, but in the middle of the windows loading process it shuts down and does not show any signs of life until you leave it charging for another hour. The voltage output out of the power supply shows 14.70 ~ 15.20 never gets to 16V. Now, comes the questions...
This particular laptop needs a good battery to " buffer" power and the AC adapter only charges the battery but does not have enough Amps to run the computer without the battery?
or
Do i have a Bad power adapter that is not even charging the battery properly?
or
Bad power supply and battery?
I recently sent my Sony Vaio FW in repair, the hinge was squeaky and on the verge of popping off.
They took it in and repaired it under warranty, but there is still a little play in the cylindrical shaped housing of the power socket.
Is this normal? do all vaios carry this vunerability?
I keep my vaio on my desk and avoid putting any stress on the housing of the power socket.. the power button housing on the other side of the machine feels rock solid.
my power brick making a clicking noise and the LED light sort of flickering in conjunction with the noise. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm not sure it's a problem, but I'm worried that it might be.
View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday a sony partner changed the mainboard in my z. Vista runs fine but the z didn't power off! When i shutdown the system it will reboot!
Hibernation and Standby also doesn't work - the screen went black, hdd is working and after a few seconds the desktop is back!
What can i do? I've tested some of the recovery points without success.
Same problem when starting in safe mode!
For information: when shut down in the bios everything is ok, also when booting from an ubuntu cd!
There must be a way to fix this - i hope without doing a system restore from the dvds....
I have a new Sony F Series with an 820QM CPU. I notice the performance drops to a very low level when the unit is not on AC power.
I have chosen the high performance power profile, and set the Min and Max processor states to 100% both when on AC power and on battery, this didn't help at all .....
1. How do I control the duration for which the backlight keyboard lights are on.

I recently got my ideapad and I changed the HDD to an SSD right away. After changing it I cant find the drivers for the f7 key or the flight mode key, everything is functional except for that key...
View 5 Replies View RelatedFlight mode won't switch off - it's greyed out and is ON.I've Googled the issue and an upgrade to the BIOS was recommended - it took me from 2.6 to 2.9 (I think) but still stuck on flight mode so no network connections to my printer etc. This is a fairly new machine. Upgraded to Windows 8.1.
