Sony :: TX Sees Only 3.45GB Of An 8GB Memory Stick Pro
Jan 19, 2009I use Yadis plus a memory stick for realtime backups.
Formatting the memory stick, no matter what I do it comes up 3.45GB. I tried a second one with the same result.
Is this a problem with the laptop? With the driver? Or is it yet another case of "live with it"?

Aug 1, 2013My HP Pavillion 15 sleekbook has a digital media port on the side that does not read my Sony 64mb memory stick, although it fits fine. After being put on hold for an inexcusible amount of time the tech, that I could hardly understand said it wouldn't work. Why not, and if not what will?

Nov 19, 2009I got a MBP 13" 2.26ghz with 2x 1gb RAM. I was thinking of buying just 1 2gb ram and install it on my MBP so total it's gonna be 3gb RAM.
So, I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried using different size RAM together? I know it's not advisable to do that due to possible instability in performance. But I would like to get some opinion from experienced user.

Acer :: Unsticking A Memory Stick
Nov 27, 2008stuck in a Memory Stick PRO Duo (without the adapter) in my Acer Aspire One notebook, but was able to get it out with tape. Perhaps this will help other people in the same situation.

Dell :: M6400 Memory Stick Problems
Jan 22, 2009Whenever I put a Sony Memory Stick into the built in reader in my M6400, it asks if I want to format it. The same memory stick opens fine in my Dell M90. I've already updated the Ricoh Chipset drivers for the reader.

I recently installed windows 7 64-bit and for some reason the windows installation didn't install any driver for the memory stick card reader (and didn't even give a notice or something about that).
I tried to manually install a driver and all I could find is the driver R168331.exe. It installed properly but now it can't read all my memory sticks and it only give me a massage that I need to format the stick (even if its an old one that I used recently).
Even if I'm trying to format the stick a massage come up and say that it can't format the stick because it can't read it right.

Right now I don't have the stock ram, my friend took it when he sold it to me, there's some random mis-matched slow 2x1GB sticks of stuff in there, I can buy a 4GB stick (800MHz) off of another buddy soon for 100 kuai ($14), I was wondering, I know OSX will only take 4GB or whatever, and that the book wont support more than 4GB, but will ONE slot support, and fully utilize the 4GB stick?
I only need this computer for another month before I buy a new MBP, so I don't want to spend any actual money on Ram, I'm doing semi-ok with 2gb.

May 14, 2010CW26FX - Anyone having trouble getting their video color settings to stick? I have adjusted my screen brightness/color/contrast via the NVidia Control Panel, but I periodically lose my settings. Initially there was a conflict with the VAIO Control Center - display settings there superseded whatever I did in the NVidia Control Panel. I eventually figured out how to get the NVidia Control Panel settings to stick by changing the display settings in the VAIO Control Center first - or at least I thought I did. It would work for a few reboots, but eventually I seemed to lose my settings again. So I uninstalled the VAIO Control Center hoping that would leave my NVidia Control Panel settings alone. But lo & behold I still periodically lose those settings (the NVidia Control Panel radio button "Other applications control color settings" is inexplicably selected.) Any ideas? (And yes, I hit "Apply" before closing out the NVidia Control Panel.)

Feb 16, 2010I was buying a MacBook Pro tomorrow and I needed to know if I needed to select the 8GB of memory option for the 13.3 inch laptop? I will be running Windows 7 in VMWare as a virtual machine. I wanted to dedicate 3GB to the process to have it run as seamless as possible and therefore I would have 5GB to allocate to my OS X and that run as fast as possible as well. I know it is completely overkill, but I don't ever ever want to have to deal with a slowdown. I have had a top tier HP Elitebook with 4GB ram come down to its knees using just using windows media player playing music and I don't want to have to worry about that problem with this machine.

Mar 1, 2009I recently got a Macbook Aluminum (the 2.0 Ghz), and i'm really impressed with it. Well, i haven't really explore everything (first time using a Mac, so please be gentle, ).
One thing's for sure is that i absolutely love the trackpad. The swipe thingy is incredible.
Anyway, any advice on applications that I should be using? I mean, other than the ones stated here (a superb guide by Sam if i might add)
I plan to install Windows to do some programming (job requirements, visual studio 2008 bla bla bla). Should I upgrade my memory to 2 x 2gb? Currently considering between boot camp and vmware...

Mar 29, 2009I am about to buy my first Mac. I have decided on the Aluminum 2.0ghz MacBook, 2GB, and 250GB HDD.
I have 2 questions:
1) Is there any need to upgrade the memory to 4GB? I have heard the OS works fine with the lower memory (as compared to most PCs). I dont really game on my computer, but do watch TV online some.
2) I start school in August, I have the money for the purchase, and would prefer to get it now......but is there any reason for me to wait until August? Just wondering if an insider has any idea of upcoming deals or upgrades expected in the near future.

Feb 21, 2010I am planning to upgrade the RAM in my wife's 13" MBP (mid-2009). Currently it has 2GB. When I upgraded the HDD to 500GB, I didn't pay attention, but I vaguely remember seeing only one 2GB stick in there. Is that the case? If so, is it advised to buy a "matching" 2 GB stick or 2x2GB new ones?
Secondly, I have some Officemax gift cards to use before the end of this month, and I realized that they carry Crucial memory. Crucial website states the compatible memory for the mid-2009 13" MBP as "DDR3 PC3-8500 • CL=7 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1066 • 204-pin SODIMM".
Would this work in the 13" MBP?

3GB ram Operating on Vista home premium sp1
So far everything was going well on my laptop, did the tweaks I found on the forum and the laptop was performing very quickly. I noticed it was overheating however and called dell and they sent me a replacement motherboard.
Everything was working fine at first until I notice a huge performance drop. The computer took around 3-5 minutes to start up and all the programs took quite a while to start. The cpu usage was constantly reaching 100%.
After calling dell a few times and running a bunch of test and spyware removal tools, the problem still exist. I noticed today that this problem is only occurring when the ac adapter is plugged in and will work fine on just battery power. I called dell again today to report this finding and they still couldn't figure out what was wrong, they were just sure it couldn't be a hardware error. They can only suggest I do a clean install of Vista.

My question for you apple gurus is can her system handle more than 2gb's of ram... i'm obviously challenging the max ram statement on the linked page I've heard of people installing more than the "limit" and the system running fine. I'd like to get 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300) on two SO-DIMMs.

The jack sizes are identical. Can we use each other's adaptors? My assumption is that I might get away with both but that my wife might damage her laptop with my adaptor due to the higher output.
