My HP Pavillion 15 sleekbook has a digital media port on the side that does not read my Sony 64mb memory stick, although it fits fine. After being put on hold for an inexcusible amount of time the tech, that I could hardly understand said it wouldn't work. Why not, and if not what will?

I just opened up my HP Pavilion Touchsmart 15 Sleekbook and I want to connect a 2nd monitor to stretch my desktop. I have a Dell monitor that I've been using for a year or so with a VGA connection. On my new Touchsmart there is no standard vga port.

In what ways can I connect it?
I bought Acer Aspire 5315 (hard:80Gb ,Memory:512Mb ,screen cystal 15.4" ,DVD RW , web cam, built in microphone, BUT Video memory 64 MB (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100).
Wherever I search the net i found that video memory:up to 358Mb then why mine shows 64Mb? is there anyway to increase it? I am running windows vista.
I use Yadis plus a memory stick for realtime backups.
Formatting the memory stick, no matter what I do it comes up 3.45GB. I tried a second one with the same result.
Is this a problem with the laptop? With the driver? Or is it yet another case of "live with it"?
are there any sony memory stick adaptors for the 13" macbook pro? can I use a usb sony memory stick adaptor?

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhenever I insert an SD card or Sony Memory Stick in the memory card reader (VGP-MCA20) of my SZ, the computer doesn't recognize it. If I double click on the removable drive, it hangs the computer. I tried 16MB and 512MB SD Cards and 16MB Sony Memory Stick. All of them don't work. I tried them with my FW notebook and they work fine. So, it is not the media problem.
I tried to restore from Recovery DVD with Windows XP, install with Windows Vista and I still have the same problem.
am I right that I'll need a kind of adapter for my Memory Stick Pro Duo card to use it in the DV8 1050eg built-in-cardreader!?

stuck in a Memory Stick PRO Duo (without the adapter) in my Acer Aspire One notebook, but was able to get it out with tape. Perhaps this will help other people in the same situation.
Apparently you have to make 15 posts to submit a thread, but I'm a preschool teacher with limited technology skills, so it you go to w w w dot LloydandLauren dot com and look at the November 21st post, you can see how I got it out.
I asked around and people said that the 8xx Series nVidia GPU is defective and its very high risk of bricking my PC if i do so, others have said that its possible but to a small boost which is more than fine for me, becuase when im playing games or whatnot, then my screen freezes for a second.like if im playing a racing game and i have the up arrow key pressed and turning right and have them both held the game freezes untili let go of both keys and it returns like it was just frame hiccup or something nothing major but its a bit bothersome.
It still irriates me ALOT that even though Sony moved up from 7400 GPU to 8400 GS then DOWNGRADED the video ram from 128mb to 64mb which really sucks. I just sold my SZ4 for a pitiful £250 and bought an SZ60WN/C off my uncle for 350, but I feel like the overall performance of the SZ4 surpasses the SZ6 I notice a good amount of slowness...im not gonna say lag but slowness in the things i do on normal bases whether its multiple tabs or photoshop or anything else.
Now I know OVERALL the 8xx cards are defective but I heard that only some models were defective does this affect the SZ6/7? and anything I can do to OC the GPU or speed up my system by anyway.
MY ram is PC-6400 667 bus speed would i get a good speed bump moving upto a 800Bus speed RAM?
Whenever I put a Sony Memory Stick into the built in reader in my M6400, it asks if I want to format it. The same memory stick opens fine in my Dell M90. I've already updated the Ricoh Chipset drivers for the reader.

I recently installed windows 7 64-bit and for some reason the windows installation didn't install any driver for the memory stick card reader (and didn't even give a notice or something about that).
I tried to manually install a driver and all I could find is the driver R168331.exe. It installed properly but now it can't read all my memory sticks and it only give me a massage that I need to format the stick (even if its an old one that I used recently).
Even if I'm trying to format the stick a massage come up and say that it can't format the stick because it can't read it right.
On my W510, the CD drive will not read any media. It sounds like it's trying to spin up but then comes to a grinding halt and repeats this a few times before giving up. Though in My Computer it does show up as an Audio CD so it might be able to read a little bit.

I have a Dell Studio 1440. It has only one user replaceable memory slot. 1 GB is on board. After upgrading the RAM to 4 GB my computer had 5 GB and worked well for almost a year. Then there seemed to be a memory failure. I put the old 2 GB DIMM that came with the laptop and the laptop worked for a while. However, one day it just started beeping (4 beeps) at startup. Now, no matter what memory I put in, it just beeps. It works perfectly well with no memory in the slot i.e. with 1 GB on board. All diagnostics pass.

I can't set my sound default. I recently got my computer updated and a few hours later, my sound stopped working, then my videos, too. I reinstalled my computer, but when it got to the point where you set sound defult, it wouldn't work. The sections "Configure" and "Properties" worked, but "Set Default" wouldn't. I am so frustrated because I need sound and video to do a lot of things on my computer.

I have a HP pavilion touchsmart sleekbook 14-b133tx laptop running windows 8 and is still in warranty because of a faulty touchscreen. A few days ago my touchpad is not working properly. when i tap the touchpad it does a richt click and when i move my finger in resizes my icons. Â I look at device manager at it says that the device is working properly.
The touchpad works normally after booting but stops after a few minutes along with the keyboard (i am using the touchscreen as i type this). When i go to the mouse settings there is an error "cannot connect to synaptics pointing device driver" it prompted me to uninstall so i did but the driver won't uninstall. I tried to uninstall it on device manager then rebooted my pc then reinstalled it again but the problem is still present.
Now the touchpad is not working at all and the keyboard stops a few minutes to hours after logging into windows ang fixes itself when i reboot my pc but stops working again after some time. In the device manager there is now an error in the touchpad "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)". I already did a hard reset, the sfc/scannow, a system restore, and I already used system recovery to revert back to its factory settings but the touchpad is still not working (still error code 24) and the keyboard still stops responding after a few minutes.Â

After that started facing Wifi problems. Initially on starting laptop, Wifi get connected automatically.. But after 5-10 minutes it shows LIMITED Connectivity. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b002ev with Windows 8.1. I experience the following problem. Sometimes I have audio and sometimes I don't, without a particular pattern. I may watch a video with no problem, but on the next video the sound will be off. I have tried everything. Uninstalling the IDT codec and re-installing it and un-checking the exclusive mode. The same thing happens even after installing the latest IDT Codec (6.10.6425.0). When audio is off, I'm trying to test the speakers and the message that this device is being used by another application, is appearing.
