View 5 RepliesAfter a completely useless representative walked me in circles, then called me back once we got disconnected and left a 3 second message full of background noise I decided to go ahead and try out another representative.
This one was more useful, I told him about how the computer was underclocking when I was playing games and was running hot in general, and he suggested that we replace the motherboard, heatsink, and fan assemblies.
I had read about a power adapter possible being the issue but that wasn't offered so hopefully this first major surgery allows me to play games again
One of my mates has a dead M1330. I told him about the "oven" trick but his wife might hurt the both of us. It is however possible to replace the motherboard with the integrated X3100 motherboard correct?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a 1536 that I thought had a dead motherboard. I bought a 1537 motherboard, T9600 CPU & a CPU fan & heatsink. Finally all the parts showed up & I got it installed. Unfortunatly all this new hardware & still same problem. When you turn it on the media lights flash on & then off & the DVD drive makes some noise. The display doesn't turn on & no HDD activity. I know the 4G of DDR2 is good & the HDD is good as I tested them in another laptop. Any help would be helpful. I would think that I would get some HDD activity ( noise & HDD light ) if the display was dead.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI bought my Studio direct from Dell. When i called they said that they couldnt add my thumbprint scanner, so they upgraded me from 2GB ram to 4GB, 250GB hdd to 320GB, and from the T5800 processor to the T8100.
My question is what motherboard do you think I am going to be getting becuase the T5800 and T8100 cant both fit the same kind of motherboard, so what are they doing? The T8100 isnt an option if you go online and configure it so I'm wondering what is going on
No complaints though... lets see thumbprint scanner, 2x ram and better cpu...
Dell came and replaced my motherboard the other day, I was wondering if this also means that I got my GPU replaced?
I was told that my GPU was part of my motherboard by a friend.
does anyone have a burnt motherboard for a m1730 that they would either donate or sell very cheaply i am in need of some connectors and i dont wanna buy a good mobo on ebay for 150+ just to scrap it
View 3 Replies View Relatedwarrantee is out of the question as the incident involved salt water....
Anyway, Does anyone know what type of motherboard is it and where can i find it? The one i have carries the Hd4650 gpu with 1gb memory.
If a new fw490 mobo is still not available, can i find another older mobo (i think the type is mbx-189) and assign to a technician to solder the old's mobo gpu onto the new mobo
i'm sending my laptop in to HP for a free motherboard replacement. does this procedure wipe out the hard drive?
i'm not getting any video...do i hook the laptop up to an external monitor to back up the files?
i'm having trouble with my XPS m170.
It has:
Pentium M 760 2Ghz
1Gb Ram
60Gb HDD
Geforce Go 7800GTX 256mb
17" WUXGA
Windows Media Center 2005
I was playing CS:S, and all of a sudden i was getting artifacts on the display. Than the computer froze up and i had to power the laptop down manually.
I was able to restart the computer in safe mode a couple times.
But wow when i try to restart the computer, i'm getting artifacts on the Dell Splash screen. And then it would freeze up.
What do you think the issue is? At first i was thinking the GPU is the problem. But now i'm beginning to think its the motherboards.
I have recently put an M1710 LCD screen cover on my I9400, and the palmrest with the XPS logo in it.
I saw while I had my system apart my motherboard has the solder joints on it for the plugs for the LED's but no plugs for them(has them at the front for the speakers, next to the fans and next to the connection for the monitor).
Is it possible to solder the plugs on, will they work ?? I guess I will need a new BIOS for them ? anyone done it. Would appreciate any info/help. what plugs are they ?
Also is the XPS logo in the touchpad controlable ? mine isn't working at the moment (it's plugged in and was bought second hand but supposidly working ?) anyone know. I know others have done this mod.
my motherboard crashed and my harddrive has some important files, is there a way to extract the files from the hard drive with my current pc?
View 10 Replies View RelatedAfter some issues i had with my GPU, Dell agreed to replace both my Heatsink and Motherboard, and i wanted to ask those who have had replacements in the past; has anything changed since july 2008? (when i bought my m1530)
have they improved the heatsink, or even changed it? ( i got the aluminum one, crappy piece of engineering right there )
and im sure the GPU issues are still present, but do they run cooler now ?
im asking this because in July the "defective Nvidia GPUs" were still in the dark, and the news about them was a mere rumor...
My E6500 is having the motherboard replaced later today. Is there anything I should be aware of or that I should check out once it's done?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI bought a Dell XPS from a friend of mine and the motherboard packed it in, what kind of motherboard is in the XPS 1710. I want to buy one so I can get this machine up and running again.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe motherboard on my XPS M1330 needs replacing for the second time. First time it was replaced under warranty, but my system is now out of warranty so I'm going to replace it myself.
I phoned Dell and they're charging €400 for a replacement but I can get it cheaper if I knew the Dell part number. I have the NVIDIA 8400M GS.
From doing some research, here are some part numbers for motherboards for XPS M1330's:
PU073
GM848
CX062
D057F
K984J
How can I check my existing motherboard's part number to ensure I order the correct part?
Dell has replaced my SXPS 16s motherboard thrice in order to solve my overheating issues and some usb errors in the diagnostics and each time i have noticed that my motherboard has been downgraded.
The initial one was an A02, replaced by an A02 (new), replaced by an A01 (new), and then replaced by an A00 (refurbed).
All this hassle never solved my problems but introduced a new one - the sound latency issue. I just play a song in WMP and start browsing and the sound crackles and pops so badly that I feel like bloody throwing this thing out of the window, although I cant coz its darn expensive
i have had my 5672 for about three years now. I am a computer tech and i take it on the road with me to solve problems every day.
well the other day i was doing a data transfer on my laptop via an external hdd when all hell broke loose.
now when it boots up it just stays on the splash screen and never goes into windows. its not frozen it just dosent boot. when i try a new hard drive it wont load it just stops on windows the is starting screen.
i have run every test in the book. i have tested the ram with memtest86 no problems. i have run numerous thest and they all say every thing is ok.
so either i blew out a usb port that fried some part of the motherboard or the hdd controller is fried.
has anybody else seen this issue?
and where can i find a new motherboard online?
where I can obtain a new or reburbish working motherboard for my Acer 6920g.

what motherboard from Intel this dv4-1435dx uses? It's a 14" model from Best Buy. Just wanted to know before I bought it tomorrow...
Actually chipset...is it a GM45? I'm trying to get a hold of the Chipset, Matrix, and Graphics drivers...
I have a HP DV9005US Laptop, which was bought in Nov. 2006. The Laptop looks good aesthetically but has lot of issues with the Laptop like non-working USB Ports, Webcam, WIFI. Looks like the issue is with Motherboard. Even the CD Drive is broken.
Took the Laptop to local Retail Stores like Best Buy,Office Depot etc. but they were quoting repair costs of around $400, which looks too expensive.
A friend of mine has a HP DV6600 with a suspected dead motherboard.
Basically the battery won't charge. A different charger and different battery have been tried but to no success. He has taken it to PC World who say the motherboard is fried, I come to the same conclusion as well as a different battery and charger have been tried. PC World want £250 to fix it.
I've taken a couple of Acer laptops apart and rebuilt them no problems. I'm thinking of doing this for my friend. How easy are HP's to dismantle to fit a motherboard.
Also does anyone know anywhere apart from ebay for motherboards. I've had a look but can only find one, and it may not fit as it's an AMD one, his may be an intel one, just in the process of finding out.
I bought an HP DV2432nr with a bad motherboard. I am going to replace the mobo and give it to my GF for her college graduation present. I did some checking and found that this model is not covered by the extended service warranty deal for the failing motherboards so I am likely going to be buying a mobo for it. I checked with a higher up manager at HP that I know to see what he could do but havent heard anything back yet. Hopefully he can get me one for free or cheap but Im not putting a lot of stock in that one.
I have the machine apart and mobo is out. I have the spare part number and have located the mobo for like 150. However, what I was wondering was if it would be possible to put a mobo from a different DV2000 model in to this one? This one I have has the athlon t53 and nvidia 6150. I would really like to get a mobo out of like a dv27xx since those have the nvidia8400. Think this would work? Obviously if I get an intel board I will need to buy an intel processor. Without having both boards I would really not have a way to tell for sure. Also, I would need the spare part number for a dv27xx or other model mobo.
Has been soo long since I post anything on this great forum! I appreciate everyone's time here, and thank you all for taking some time to help me diagnose this problem. Anyways here is the problem:
I bought a "broken" Dell M1210 from ebay. The cosmetics of the laptop looks very good: no dents, few scratch marks, and almost no blemishes. It did not came with a hard drive, only an AC adapter.
Currently, I am trying to transfer ownership to me and will be trying to buy warranty for my m1210 once the transfer is complete. My m1210 is a little more then 1 month out of warranty coverage period.
I have completely disassemble the laptop and examine the motherboard, it looks and smells new. Internally, everything is very, very clean. The motherboard model of mine is HN110, the one that has the geforce 7400gs in it.
However, the batter is bad because it holds no power. I have tried on my friend's m1210 and checked it through Dell utilities and it gave a thumbs down.
I cannot confirm if the LCD, speaker, sound card, processor, system fan, heatsink, and camera are fine, or not.
I am able to confirm the ram, wireless card, and the CD drive are perfectly functional. I have yet to test those under performance conditions.
The main problems is:
I am unable to turn on the laptop.
I have tried 5 different adapters: 2 Dell m1210, 1 E1705, 1 E1505, and 1 Targus universal adapter. All of them do not work on the laptop.
When I plugged a Dell adapter into my m1210, the AC adapter shuts off. The green light on the Dell AC Adapter shuts off.
I tried my friend's charged battery to power up my laptop;however, my m1210 still will not power on.
I have not find a way to test the circuit board on my m1210 and my friend is very, very wary of me opening up their laptop. So anything that involves me trying different parts on his laptop will be almost impossible for me to ask for, he is a noob.
does a Dell 5150 isporon have a mother board battery.
I have to keep resetting clock and date when starting up, I just had the motherboard replaced.
I recently bought the XPS M1330 from a friend and wasn't familiar with the current issues caused by the nVidia GeForce 8400M GS. Lately, I've been looking for a solution to the problem...
I was reading about the Cooper Mod in another thread and it just seems like a temporary fix...
So, I was wondering has anyone tried manually installing the Intel version of the motherboard, since it seems to have no overheating problems. Has anyone tried a different motherboard to fix the overheating?
I am getting my 1640's motherboard and lcd screen replaced tommorw (dell are taking laptop into the centre). I have the 512mb Ati card, I understand the new motherboard has a 1gb card.
What are the chances I will get the new motherboard and hence the new card? Or will they still have the old motherboard replacements?
