I have a aser travelmate 6292 with a broken power jack socket. any hints on opening it up ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedTravelmate 4010. I've had it for about 3 years now, and over the past *thinks* 6 months or so the power cord had been replaced twice because it broke. But it wasn't really the cord itself that broke the first time. Something inside the jack is broken and now the cord (a new one) has to be positioned just the right way so it doesn't switch to battery mode. I use it mostly on my bed, which probably doesn't help, but at one point I had to have it on a desk with the cord taped to the lid so it wouldn't move and kill the battery (which doesn't last that long). I couldn't even close the lid so I just had the monitor shut off after a minute. but I did get a new cord and started using it on my bed, storing it underneath when I'm not using it. After a while, though, the cord started to do the same thing and now I'm sitting here trying not to move on the bed too much so it doesn't disconnect. I'd like to get a new notebook, but I can't afford it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter replacing the fan, I have a power up issue with the laptop. Basically, the laptop will only power on with the power cable disconnected at the motherboard. It was by mistake that after the fan was replaced and everything was put back together, that I noticed that the battery was not charging.
I then reopened the machine and reconnected the power cable to the motherboard and nothing - no power.
When plugging in the power source with the battery in place, the LED adjacent to the power socket lights up WHITE then stays ORANGE and will not power up. No other lights, no fan noise, nothing.
If I remove the battery, the LED adjacent to the power socket lights up WHITE and stays white however will not power up either. Same agin, no other LEDs, not fan noise, nothing.
I have now opened the machine back up and disconnected the power from the motherboard. Put it all back together and the laptop powers up as normal with the battery and it works fine. (Well until the battery runs out anyway).
So the power jack on my D520 seems to have broke.. It still works, but the center of the plug is missing, and the cord pulls out very easy... What would i need to do to replace it? Looking at ebay, i can find it for a few $, http://cgi.ebay.com/DC-Power-Jack-De...item45e96642b7
Does this require soldering? Seems like a cheap design or something.
I just bought a brand spankin new HP dv5t series, got it 3 days ago, i inspected it when i got it out of the box and it was beautiful.
However a little later I noticed that the power (cord side) that you plug in to charge was pretty loose.
Now just today I tripped on the long part of the cord... it moved the laptops position on the desk a few inches, and enough to pull it out of the box in the middle of the cord, and it feels even loser.. but I cant tell if it really did, i might just be paranoid.
This worries me because on my last two laptops they were pretty tight and had no play in them, both of the ended up broken.
Like many others, the power jack in my HP zv5000 appears to be broken or faulty. When i had this problem on my Compact Presario, i bought a port replicator that had an excellect power jack. i had hoped the Targus universal docking station would do the same but am told it will not power the laptop. Anyone know of a docking station or port replicator for this model that will power the laptop? i am seriously not into paying over $100 to get it fixed only to have it happen again...as so many others have done.
i saw the quickdock on Hp site and asked them if it was compatible with the zv5000 series, but they still have not responded.
i'm having trouble finding a power cable for HP Presario C500 notebook?
can i safely use the universal notebook adaptor?
I need 19.0V - 3.2A
what if I use say, 2.7A?
First post here...
Here's the deal, my 600m won't charge the battery anymore and will not run off of the power cord.
The power cord is showing 19.5v which is correct.
The back of the power adapter jack on the mobo is showing about 3.5v when plugged in and the two outside pins that charge the battery are only showing about 0.02v. Is this normal voltage or do you think the mobo broken?
I'm not really sure which of the battery charging pins to check the voltage from and can't find a diagram of it anywhere.
This is gooing to sound like I am neglecting my laptop, but its just this specifc scenario in which I am doing so. The rest is taken care of, like new condition even after 2 years.
Bassicaly, how "tough" is the A/C power slot on the 5920g?
As a result of using my laptop around the place I have severy loosned my slot where the cable plugs in to the laptop.
To keep things cool i ussualy lay it on something like a solid clip folder, where i find the latop has always sliden down or hinged itself in the place where the cable plugs into the laptop. This bears the brunt of the weight and force.
I will also sometimes move the laptop beyond the range of the cable and snap jerk it by accident, or someone will walk past the cable and pull on the cord etc, so hard that it rips teh laptop out of my hands but the cord is still plugged in if its in the right angle. I have tried to avoid it, but over 2 years it has REALLY added up and seen a lot of punishment.
When it used to be new it was all solid and tight, now the whole thing where the cable plugs in moves around and is very clunky. Power to the laptop seems fine. I am just wondering, what does this mechanism look like on the inside? Can it be a problem thats it really clunky like this? Or is it just a housing issue and everything is ok? I feel like the whole thing will fall out one day, but power to the latop seems fine So I have no idea what to make of it.
I have a Studio 1558, about 3 years old. Had the computer on and plugged in last night, and turned off the outlet switch by accident. This morning, it's dead. When I plug the power adapter into the jack on the laptop, the blue LED jack light flashes once, stays on for up to a second, then turns off. That's all the laptop can do.
Pulled the battery, but changed nothing. Trying to troubleshoot where the problem lies.
I was in a game play it then suddenly shut down , when i try to start it up the light from battery flash it up for 1 sec then stop no noise no nothing dont want to start i try remove battery only with cable the light from cable is on i try removing static electricity keep pushing the power button with no cable and battery for 3 minute nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy z500 cannot boot up without power cable plugged in. Usually,a few seconds after I saw the lenovo logo, the system will suddenly shut down just like the battery was removed.however,if I connect powercable to the laptop and power on,everything is fine,I can enter windows 8,or ubuntu, after I enter OS,I can disconnect the power cable without any problems.the battery is healthy and can last for more than 2 hours.
So far I tried the following methods:
1.update BIOS
2.update battery firmware
3.reset BIOS
none of them worked for me....
I bought this inspiron 15r 5521. Its approx 2 year old. There was warning in battery status in the PC checkup. Few days afterwards the laptop did not start up. I searched and did a hard reset..BUT when i shut it down or hibernate . again its like dead and i have to plug in the power cord for 20 min and do a hard reset to turn it on . It also happens that if i shut down while the power cord is plugged and i take it out and again plug it , it stops charging..(again need a hard reset).

I have done the troubleshooting in windows for sound problem - no luck.
I don't see a realtek sound card listed in device manager and I believe it is in the original specs for this notebook.
I get sound from the notebook speakers.
Have gone to control panel sounds and tried all the available adn even have disabled and disconnected devises noted to show.
I have tried a couple of speakers in the output jack tha twork on other notebooks - not the external speaker.
i got a problem with my headphone jack. I only hear sound on the right side, not on the left. tried different headphones, same problem. Did the soundtest from the configurationpanel , same problem.
Laptop is a few months out of warranty so a repair by Acer isn't an option (if it is a hardware error).

View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter I was done cleaning my vents and fan today, I was greeted with a white screen upon booting up.
Since the screen gets power, and it works when connected to an external monitor, I do believe I have accidentally poked out the cable that connects motherboard to LCD.
And since that's under the not-user-accessible portion of the case, it may take a while for me to get at it.
Last week I dropped my 3810TZ from a table and the LCD panel hinge cracked. Then I got a call from Acer about the mike cable overheat repair and if I wanted to send it in. I thought just do it and went for it.
I put a sticker over the broken hinge that just said 'repair?' and send the machine in.
Today it came back with a brand new LCD panel!
I have an Aspire E1-572 that is five months old, running Win 8.1. I've loved the notebook to this point, but now the speakers have quit working completely (the headphone jack still works). I called tech support and they had me delete and reinstall the driver (Realtech high definition audio), which made no difference.
She then told me the next step is to refresh my Windows installation, which will apparently blow away everything I've installed since it was new. I declined to do that because I really don't want to spend an entire day reinstalling all the programs, even though I have the data backed up. Is this truly the only way to make a final determination if it's a hardware or software problem?
I have an Acer laptop model 5736. The screen won't light up but I can connect a VGA cable to my tv and see that the computer is working. ( i typed this on it). The screen started acting up a month or two ago and I could close it or re-position it and it would come back on. Today it stopped altogether. I watched a couple of videos on youtube on downloading bios, but that didn't work for me. When i tried to run the bios it said my computer was 64 bit and didn't support the 32 bit bios.
