Acer :: Travelmate 4010 Power Cord/jack Not Working
Aug 9, 2008Travelmate 4010. I've had it for about 3 years now, and over the past *thinks* 6 months or so the power cord had been replaced twice because it broke. But it wasn't really the cord itself that broke the first time. Something inside the jack is broken and now the cord (a new one) has to be positioned just the right way so it doesn't switch to battery mode. I use it mostly on my bed, which probably doesn't help, but at one point I had to have it on a desk with the cord taped to the lid so it wouldn't move and kill the battery (which doesn't last that long). I couldn't even close the lid so I just had the monitor shut off after a minute. but I did get a new cord and started using it on my bed, storing it underneath when I'm not using it. After a while, though, the cord started to do the same thing and now I'm sitting here trying not to move on the bed too much so it doesn't disconnect. I'd like to get a new notebook, but I can't afford it.

Oct 13, 2014I have an Acer Travelmate 6292 and the screen turns black when I open it up all hte way. If I go to close it and it is about 6 inches open, the screen comes back on. Im guessing a wire or plug is not working right.

Dec 8, 2009I'm working on an Extensa 5420 that has a broken plastic tab that holds the power jack in the lower case. Anyone had any luck with glue/epoxy (or some other techique) to secure the power jack in position so it won't fall inside the case?

Jan 5, 2015the laptop is just over a year old, and does not power up at all. This started a couple of weeks ago.
At first the LED light would blink orange a few times when the laptop was switched on, but nothing else happened.
Then it might just start up, and while booting up the battery light would blink and it would switch off .
I did try removing the battery etc. to discharge of the mainboard as advised, but no difference.
I have tried other sockets, same result.
I have now left it unplugged for a few days and there is not even the orange light any more.
I contacted Acer two weeks ago and received a message that a response would arrive within 24 hours, but to date I have received no response at all.
Acer :: Empowering Technology 6292 - Boot Up Very Slow
May 3, 2008There was a lot of gunk pre-installed on the Acer 6292 portable I bought about 6 months ago (eNet, ePower, ePresentation, eDataSecurity management etc, etc.), running under Vista Business (now with SP1). These make boot up very slow.
It has been suggested elsewhere (specifically in microsoft.public.windows.vista.general News Group) that these are not very useful and could be got rid of. I would like a second opinion before I uninstall these.
Specifically, are these interrelated - e.g. can I uninstall some (e.g. eDataSecurity) without affecting others (e.g. eRecovery) ?
I am a bit cautions about uninstalling as the Acer did not come with a recovery (or Vista) CD, and I would have no way of going back.
Acer :: Travelmate 4500 After Pressing Power
Nov 22, 2009The issue: I own a Travelmate 4500 and all was super, until 5 hours ago... (that's the time I already used to grow grey hair trying to find a solution )
Here exactly what happened:
(1) While working, he turned off (I thought loss of power, but the external HDD worked, so that wasn't it).
(2) I pressed Power, the white ACER screen came up, I pressed F2 to check the setup and was hoping that it was just a short clinch with minimal loss of data in windows, but... a few seconds later, the screen turned black..
(3) I pressed power again to turn it off, again to turn it on and this time, black already, no ACER white-screen at all...
(4) What happens if I press power now, is always the same > the fan starts, the DVD-Drive makes short sound + HDD starts (as it all should usually) -> but then after3 seconds or so, without beep, the fan turns off, the HDD keeps turning, but nothing else happens anymore - all black like dead

Feb 17, 2008I have an acer travelmate 4002wlmi, i had power adapter problem, the old one semms to be wrong, the notebbok was standing 3weeks along, today i get a new power adapter i want to charge but it doesent, i made the battery out and pussed the powerbutton 30seconds, an after that it begans to charge. some time after i tried to start my computer but it wont, just the fan o the power light on but on the screen heappens nothing, and not boot on.

Does this require soldering? Seems like a cheap design or something.
HP/Compaq :: Is Yourdv5t Power Jack Loose
Jan 30, 2009I just bought a brand spankin new HP dv5t series, got it 3 days ago, i inspected it when i got it out of the box and it was beautiful.
However a little later I noticed that the power (cord side) that you plug in to charge was pretty loose.
Now just today I tripped on the long part of the cord... it moved the laptops position on the desk a few inches, and enough to pull it out of the box in the middle of the cord, and it feels even loser.. but I cant tell if it really did, i might just be paranoid.
This worries me because on my last two laptops they were pretty tight and had no play in them, both of the ended up broken.
HP/Compaq :: Docking Station To Cure Power Jack
Feb 5, 2009Like many others, the power jack in my HP zv5000 appears to be broken or faulty. When i had this problem on my Compact Presario, i bought a port replicator that had an excellect power jack. i had hoped the Targus universal docking station would do the same but am told it will not power the laptop. Anyone know of a docking station or port replicator for this model that will power the laptop? i am seriously not into paying over $100 to get it fixed only to have it happen again...as so many others have done.
i saw the quickdock on Hp site and asked them if it was compatible with the zv5000 series, but they still have not responded.
Dell :: Power Cord/jack/battery Voltage: 600m

Here's the deal, my 600m won't charge the battery anymore and will not run off of the power cord.
The power cord is showing 19.5v which is correct.
The back of the power adapter jack on the mobo is showing about 3.5v when plugged in and the two outside pins that charge the battery are only showing about 0.02v. Is this normal voltage or do you think the mobo broken?
I'm not really sure which of the battery charging pins to check the voltage from and can't find a diagram of it anywhere.
Dell Studio 1558 :: Won't Power On - Blue LED Jack Light Flashes Once
Feb 26, 2013I have a Studio 1558, about 3 years old. Had the computer on and plugged in last night, and turned off the outlet switch by accident. This morning, it's dead. When I plug the power adapter into the jack on the laptop, the blue LED jack light flashes once, stays on for up to a second, then turns off. That's all the laptop can do.
Pulled the battery, but changed nothing. Trying to troubleshoot where the problem lies.

Mar 23, 2009Has anyone broken the power jacks on their aspire ones? I saw from some pics that it's soldered right onto the board. My wife tripped over mine yesterday and may think the plug is a little bit looser than before, but still holds just fine.

Jan 6, 2015I have a Acer Asipre 774-6656 WIndows 8.1 64 bit notebook. The audio output jack on left side does not work.
I have done the troubleshooting in windows for sound problem - no luck.
I don't see a realtek sound card listed in device manager and I believe it is in the original specs for this notebook.
I get sound from the notebook speakers.
Have gone to control panel sounds and tried all the available adn even have disabled and disconnected devises noted to show.
I have tried a couple of speakers in the output jack tha twork on other notebooks - not the external speaker.

Feb 16, 2015i got a problem with my headphone jack. I only hear sound on the right side, not on the left. tried different headphones, same problem. Did the soundtest from the configurationpanel , same problem.
Laptop is a few months out of warranty so a repair by Acer isn't an option (if it is a hardware error).

Dec 29, 2014I have an Aspire E1-572 that is five months old, running Win 8.1. I've loved the notebook to this point, but now the speakers have quit working completely (the headphone jack still works). I called tech support and they had me delete and reinstall the driver (Realtech high definition audio), which made no difference.
She then told me the next step is to refresh my Windows installation, which will apparently blow away everything I've installed since it was new. I declined to do that because I really don't want to spend an entire day reinstalling all the programs, even though I have the data backed up. Is this truly the only way to make a final determination if it's a hardware or software problem?

Oct 2, 2008ive just re-installed vista home premium on my acer travelmate 5320 but now the led for the wireless is reversed, so when the wifi is on the led is off and vice versa does anyone have any ideas whatsoever as i am at a loss with this one.

Fine for all I need but I would love to upgrade the memory. I see it says it can only go up to 1 gig and that it has 256 as standard.
I see there is a slot under a cover on the back, but only 1 slot (Unless I'm not looking properly)
Can I just stick a 1 gig unit in this slot and all will be fine or is there some unusual method to upgrading the memory. Hope it's nothing like the old Dells
