Acer :: Aspire 3810 Thread

Dec 4, 2009

First things first is if you have a 3810 you might want to check when it was manufactured as some have overheating microphone lead issues:

Now that the bad bits out of the way lets move on shall we....

Link to the different configs you can get:

Personally for the price I would go for the LX.PE602.045 version. Its about £480 and for the price it a steal. Performance wise it will cope with day to day tasks and even more resource hogging programs like Photoshop [url], yes I know its not an ACER 3810 but it uses the same Intel SU4100 CPU. As you can see its competant enough).

And the 8 hours battery life!! You can get a USB GPS receiver and use it as a Sat Nav system, with 8 hours battery life you'll be fine

Acer :: Aspire 5935G Owner Thread

May 25, 2009

A few days ago I was bought a new Acer Aspire 5935G-744G50N notebook. I would like to install the original nvidia 185.85 WHQL driver for the GT130M video card from the nvidia site. But the installer drop down me and doesn't installed the driver.

He says: "Doesn't found components for the driver". Or something like that. Okay, I install back the original Acer-Nvidia driver from the driver backup dvd, but the screen brightness is too dark. I repaired the system with the system-restore. I delete again the originally installed Acer-Nvidia driver, and I download a modded .inf with nvidia driver from the laptopvideo2go.com. That's generate a bad screen resulation and after some installs black sreens. After it, I download a "Dox" modded driver from here, too, but it doesn't work correctly, too.

My question is: How I install newest Nvidia drivers for this good laptop?

Acer :: Aspire 5930(G) Owner Thread

Oct 3, 2008

I just got my Aspire 5930G here in sweden, and i have to say coming from a DELL laptop, this one is really nice.

It has a 2.0GHZ CPU which maybe is a little slow, but the grfx card (Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT) makes up for that!
3 GB RAM, HDMI/VGA ports, DVD-writer, 15.4" screen with 1280x800.

I just put in another harddrive in it (320gigger instead of 250 that came with it) and with 7200rpm instead of the original 5400 it is really much faster.

I bought the laptop for 1160$ aprox, which is pretty cheap, isnt it? =)

Just tried 3dmarks 2006 and it gets 5567 points which is VERY good for this kind of cheap laptop, "for the win"!

It seems this laptop is pretty rare still, im not sure its new on the market, but can other owners please write here, maybe some tips or so
Wonder if i for instance can put another (faster) CPU in this one to make it faster..

Here are some links for those who are intrested in this one:

Acer :: 4810 Vs 3810

Sep 23, 2009

I am confused, a bit, which one should I go for

The processor is Su3500, RAM 2GB, 320 GB HDD for both 3810 and 4810.
3810 weighs 1.6 kg while 4810 is 1.9 kg

I like a light notebook suits my light body, but 300gm or a DVD RW drive the better

Acer :: 3810 Different Batteries

Mar 15, 2010

since the 3810 is really noisy with AC plugged in, I decided to buy another battery to only run it on batteries.

But I found several different models running with the 3810 so I am confused and wonder if anyone has made experiences with original/3rt party batteries and would recommend a particular one. What I found so far are

4400 mAh; 6 cells; non-original EUR 34
6600Mah; 9 cells ; non-original; EUR 42
5600mAh; ? cells; ORIGINAL; EUR 115
5600mAh, ? cells; "100% New Genuine Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery" EUR 37

In particular, are the 6 and nine cells akkus of equal size or how much will it exceed the laptop?

And are original batteries worth thrice the price?

The original one has only six cells right? I did not find any ORIGINAL 9 cells battery or do they not exist?

Acer :: TIMELINE 3810

Sep 27, 2009

I uninstalled all the extra software that this laptop came with. One problem i am having is every SECOND start up, the computers loads very slow. The next time i turn on the laptop it will load really fast and all the icons and stuff will pop up right away. Then the next time it will be slow again, windows load then only the wallpaper visible, the icons on desktop and the start bar is not there for about 2 mins.

I tried to restart and i noticed it is always on the second start up.

Also i tried to format my laptop with XP on a usb stick. When i get to the set up, it can not detected the harddrive but only the usb stick.

Acer :: 3810 (w/ SU2700) Or 1410 (w/ SU2300)

Oct 22, 2009

I'm torn between the 13.3 and the 11.6. How do these two stack up in terms of processing power.

[url]
Intel Pentium SU2700 1.3GHz / 4GB RAM / 320GB Hard Drive / Intel GMA 4500MHD Graphics / 802.11N Wireless / Webcam / Vista Home Premium 64-Bit

and this

[url]
Intel Celeron 1.2GHz SU2300 / 2GB RAM / 160GB Hard Drive / Intel GMA 4500MHD / Webcam / 802.11N Wireless / HDMI / 6-Cell Battery / Windows 7 Home Premium

I think I remember reading that the SU2300 is better (or perhaps better bang for your buck) than the SU3500. I'm pretty sure the SU3500 is supposed to be better than the SU2700. So, does that make the SU2300 better when compared to the SU2700?

I'm haven't made up my mind on the 13.3" form factor, but the $499 price point seemed like a deal. Also, is the 13.3" eligible for Windows 7?

It seems, that the old finesses doesn't work with x810 Timeline series with Insyde bios inside. After many hours with uncle Google, it seems that nobody on the planet know the right way.

Acer :: The ThrottleStop Thread

This thread is dedicated to unclewebb's utility ThrottleStop; its support and promotion. (thanking unclewebb profusely for coding it certainly doesn't hurt )

This is the real deal for any Gemstone Blue users who are throttling, especially those who can't undervolt.

It's surprisingly simple to use - open ThrottleStop.exe, accept the rather frightening warning (it's mostly for Dell users), then click the box next to Chipset Clock Mod.

That's it! Your system should be protected from future throttling incidences.

Tick the Minimize on Close button to send it to your notification area instead of the Taskbar (like RMClock).

(Angelwings, feel free to correct me if I've got this wrong)

If you want to view ThrottleStop's documentation without downloading the utility,

Dell :: M1730 Vs M6300 Thread

Jul 23, 2008

I'm not looking to debate the geforce vs quadro performance nor do I want people to tell me to wait for the 9m series cards, just a couple quick questions.

Does the m1730 have a docking port? From what I can find, I'm thinking it does not. For that matter, does the m6300 have one? I think it does...

Can an 8800gtx from an m1730 be put into an m6300? If not, I'll be fine with the 3600m, but I prefer geforce cards.

If yes, where can you get an 8800gtx and how much do they cost? I've seen people saying anything from over $2000 to $700.... which is quite a difference.

I guess while I'm at it, are there any other huge issues that I've maybe overlooked? I'm thinking about things like the huge LCD problems that everyone experienced with light leakage and whatnot on the m170/9300 series and even overflowing into the next gen stuff iirc.

Dell :: Studio XPS 16 Benchmark Thread

Apr 21, 2009

even though this computer is hot to the touch and she is having a few issues with it i figure id put it threw its paces for you guys. id just like to mention before hand that we have the WLED screen (1366x768)

out of the box running with dell's 9.4 drivers it ran a 5060 in 3dmark 06
i ended up having to down grade the drivers to dell's 9.2 because i was unable to over clock with the 9.4's. however even with the 9.2 the only program that would work is AMD GPU clock tool. i was able to test it up to 749 mhz core / 945 mhz mem. it works like a charm, no artifacting or anything. with just one run threw 3dmark 06 it brought the temp up to 76C. after an 45min of looping the test the temps peaked and leveled out at 83C.
it idles around 60-63C at these clocks (stock idle is about 8C cooler)

anyways here are the results for 3dmark 06

dell 9.4 drivers= 5060
dell 9.2 drivers= 5004
dell 9.2 drivers OC(749c/945m) = 5520

i have yet to test if its stable at higher clock then these. i feel as though it still has a small amount of room left, maybe another 20 mhz on ether . i haven't had time to test this out yet though. im probably going to try undervolting the CPU and see if that brings down the temps any. ill report back with the results from both the CPU and GPU when i get a chance to do it all.

this is a spiffy little computer, im sure that once we resolve the screen and power supply issues with dell that my wife will be happy with the unit.

So far I have only installed Symantec AV 2009 Gaming Edition and Steam. Everything else is either stock to Win7x64 or came down via Windows Update.

Dell :: XPS Divorce And/or Replacement Thread

May 22, 2010

I figured most of us all had/have something in common which is why we bought a XPS. Therefore, I am interested in other laptops being used by fellow XPS owners and past XPS owners.

Let me begin im the owner of a M1330 (specs in sig) since 2008 it has been reliable but lately it has been running pretty hot. Plus I figured its time for a change since I know most laptops begin to act up after a year.

This week I got a Sony Vaio CW series which im using to type this, specs are 4gb ram, 500gb hd, 2mp cam+mic, Intel i5 processor, blu-ray, bluetooth, 14" screen.

It will suffice for now im not as excited about it as I was when I received my XPS but its nice. Really hoping that Dell can make a super reliable XPS 13" in the future
