A few days ago I bought an Acer Aspire 5542 (AMD Turion II X2 M500) with Windows 7 .
The software on the laptop is running very smoth because the Aspire 5542 is coming with Windows 7 64 bit.
The problem it's just one: the fan is a bit noise and is permanently ON(when the laptop is idle also ....)(the same situation like for Timeline Series)
Someone of you had the same laptop with the same problem?
Someone have a service manual for this new model(Aspire 5542)? Is it posible to buy one(service manual) from somewhere? I want to try to open the chassis to seen the fan, and to try to solve this problem....If someone already do it first please post some pictures!
I'm trying to replace the keyboard on my Aspire 5542 but can't work out how to remove it.
I believe I need to remove the panel above the keyboard that houses the speakers. On other models I see there are some screws to remove below the battery however on this model there isn't.
I've successfully been using Win 8.1pro for the past week. I've just been working on my Acer Aspire 5542 laptop browsing Google and Facebook when it stopped working. On switching on, I keep getting a message { "PREPARING AUTOMATIC REPAIR" after about 10 seconds a blue screen flashes in 1 second that says "): your PC ran into problems and needs to restart. We are just collecting error info and we'll restart for you."} and computer proceeds to restart and keeps looping the same process indefinitely. It's been like this since yesterday..
My Acer aspire 5542 stopped working today, there is no bios information or acer splash, just a blank screen, I have tested RAM memory, changed CMOS battery and power supply...
I have an ACER Aspire 5542g and i've had a problem with it lately, when I turn it on, the fan starts running, the harddrive turns on, and the CD drive starts up, the power button LED is on, but all that shows up is a black screen. I have tried the "Take out the charger and battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds", tried switching the RAM, tried taking out the harddrive, and all have been a fail. And I am honestly confused, because some of the time (rarely) it will turn on, and literally everything about the laptop is perfectly fine, and its like nothing happened. Until you turn it off.
I have an Acer notebook, Aspire 5735Z. Each time I turn on my computer I have to disable the touch pad using Fn plus F7. This disable function is not permanent though. Is there a way to disable the touch pad permanently?
I've had a number of Acer laptops over the years, I've just bought the 8930G as a replacement to my desktop so that I can hide it from my 18 month old son when not in use.
For the most part, I am very very happy with it, it's display is awesome, both built in wireless and Bluetooth, and BD.
I have a few questions.
First off, sound when play BD and DVD's, you can barely hear the voice on any film, had to resort to using travel speakers whilst I was away as I could not hear any voice in any films in a small room. Yet normal sound is amazing, how can this be? Anyone had this problem and solved it?
Second, is there a way to make Bluetooth on permanently? It's a bit annoying having to turn it on all the time.
Wireless performance appears quite slow on my wireless g network.
There is a new BIOS version, 1.13, but it does not say what the changes are, anyone know?
I am considering adding a second hard drive to it to store movies and music, I am considering by a 500gb drive, can anyone recommend a drive?
Let's start off with: Acer Aspire V3-772G (Intel(R) ore(TM) i7-4702MQ CPU @2.20GHz, 8 gb Ram)
Regardless: After noticing a slight dip in preformance from games and use of my laptop in general so i decided to clean the fans. As this laptop is close to impossible to open up i decided to clean it the easy way, to blast compressed air directly into the fan in slow and infrequent blasts. After getting alot of dust out of the system i turned the laptop back on only to hear this "cd-reading"-like hissing from the left side of the laptop (where the fan is). Being worried i might have broken something i turned it stright off, and then on again realising there was not much i could do about it right now.
I am worried i might have spun the fan to fast, causing this, as the fan did not make this sound when i bought it new or before i cleaned it for that sake. It was bought online from a norwegian store (i currently live in norway) at 2014-08-18. I thought i would ask here before i contacted the store or support to see if this is just me over-reacting or if
Acer: Full model: E1-522-65208G1TMnkkI just bought this 'fully' loaded notebook with 8 GB RAM, 1 TB Disk and an AMD 6 in Switzerland. However, using it is no pleasure as it just blows air from and makes CONSTANT fan noise. The device, bottom does not get hot though. What do I do - Bios update? Windows 8.1 ?
I ordered and received my Acer 1410 (Celeron SU2300, WD Scorpio Blue 250GB, Windows 7 64, 2GB RAM) a little over a week ago and while I like almost every aspect of it, I'm wondering if the high pitched noise / whine I'm hearing from it is normal?
Basically I only hear it when there isn't much noise around, but it's still mildly distracting. It mainly comes from the area near the indicator lights, but is most apparent under the laptop where the RAM / HD slot is. For some reason the sound is much louder with the AC adapter plugged in. On battery, the noise is basically gone (but will come back for short periods of time). I can also hear the whine through the headphone jack if nothing is playing (at least on AC power).
What might be the cause of this noise and is there any way I can get rid of it? The RMClock trick doesn't work since the option to "Run HLT command when OS is idle" is grayed out and cannot be selected.
If I decide to return this and get another 1410 later (since the online store I bought it at is sold out right now), would I be likely to get another one with this whine/noise?
I have a problem with my aspire 5733 fan. Sudenly yesterday it began to make a loud noise (louder than when playing games before). I have noticed that when CPU Temperature is above 50c the fan turns on, and when bellow 50c the fan is off. This happens on both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 14.04. I have had this laptop for less than 3 years.
I have an acer 5741 g laptop ..when i try to turn it on with or without battery , it makes a single tick noise in hard disk section and turns off...i tried using faulty laptop's hdd in another laptop but it is working fine..even in some instances after turning off, it automatically tries to turn on but goes through same tick noise and turns off.
I just tried new hdd in faulty laptop but it makes same tick noise an turns off. **bleep** i try going into bios with f2 but it opens cmos and turns off again...
Since I installed Windows on the Mac, the Windows volume is always on the desktop. How do I disable the automount of that disk, or permanently eject it while in Mac OS X?
I have an XPS 12 that I have a question about. When my computer is plugged in the power option is set to High Performance. When I unplug it it goes to Power Saver. How do I get the power option to permanently be on High Performance?
I prefer the Comfort On Screen Keyboard Pro and have installed it. After every sleep or reboot I have to manually disable the standard Touch Keyboard from Toolbar entry on the Taskbar.
I got the "ATI display driver has stopped responding and has recovered from an error" several times over the last couple of days where my screen would freeze for a couple of second and then start working again and would display that message. I thought little of it as it did always seem to work afterwards.
Last night however it got extremely frequent happening at least once a minute and i decided to try and restart my computer to see if that would work. Now when I try to turn the computer on the screen stays black and will not do anything. I can hear that the computer trying to work as the fans are going and the power light is on, it's just the screen that isn't working.

I found these guides on how to fix the error message but at the moment both are no good as I can't even use my computer to fix the problem as the screen won't work.
I am pretty sure the reason my computer is doing this is because of outdated drivers as I recently did a fresh install of windows and only installed the drivers that came on the CD I was given with my computer. I should have downloaded the latest drivers online.
I am running Windows 7 on a Dell Studio 1558 laptop. I am unsure of the graphics card at the moment as I can't access the computer but I know that it is an ATI of some sort.
Is any way to permanently disable pointing device even after reboot?
ideapad Y480: Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.30GHz, 6.00GB RAM Intel HD Graphics 4000 + Nvidia Geforce GT640m LE 750GB HDD, Dual Boot: Win8.1 Pro with MC 64bit and Win7 Ultimate 64bit
I added a mSata second drive. Works fine. Lenovo X220, Bios 1.16. PC boots from the new drive. I don't want an operating system on the new drive, just want it for storage. So I entered the bios by pushing the blue thinkvantage button and can't find a way to permanently change boot order. I hit F12 to TEMPORARILY change boot order, every time I boot the PC. Major PAIN! I tried to enter the Intel Boot Extension Management Engine, but it needs a password and I don't have a password.
About a week ago, the (external) screen of my dell lattitude D830 went completely black. I hadn't got a clue wat to do, so I waited a while, and when nothing happened I turned off the computer. I've been googling for a while, and found something about POST-codes here [URL] ..... apparently the video-card doesn't work anymore (If I start the computer with FN+power, Num and Caps flash, and Scroll burns permanently). Lucky for me my Dell was old, and I had recently replaced it, but I still wanted to use my old computer for rendering etcera. Would this still be possible? I have the idea that the computer doesn't boot anymore (I can't see whether that's true, since there's no screen). Would it be possible to make it boot again, so that I can use my old Dell on a network?
Is it common to hear a little bit of fan noise on these netbooks? It doesn't sound bad, but you can hear a faint "buzzing" of a tiny fan motor in a quiet room.
Normal? I've heard "bad" fans on youtube and mine definitely doesn't sound like those.
are AA1 owners able to hear the fan on their netbooks? mine isn't loud and doesn't change when the netbook is tilted, but curious if they're SUPPOSED to be silent. i don't mind the sound personally, just sounds like a tiny motor spinning in a quiet room - no clicking or anything like that.
my acer is 2.5 years old and the fan began noisy last few weeks but stil works, i open to clean the fan but nothing to clean.. everything is clean and no problem that i can see, the noise is still running...
i have a 5810T which i purchased recently. i've installed all the latest updates and drivers from both microsoft and acer.
however, i've noticed the following problem. when my adaptor is unplugged, i hear a white noise/hissing sound coming from both the left and right speakers. when i plug the adaptor back in, the sound is gone.
i've installed the realtek drivers, adjusted settings in the sound options, etc.
I bought a 4810 about a week ago & so far I'm pretty happy with it, but one things bothers me & I'm not sure if it's normal or not.
After the laptop's been on for awhile (maybe 30 minutes+) it will make a strange snapping or clicking noise (definitely not the hard drive.) It seems to come from the screen area although I'm not positive on that. It's pretty rare that it happens, but lately I've noticed it happening when the laptop powers off.
I just got a new Acer laptop (5720-302G08Mi). The laptop is sometimes making a light clicking noise. This could be the harddisk, but not sure. Is this normal for this model?
Every minute or so, I'll hear what sounds somewhat like the loud tick of a clock coming more or less from the left side of my laptop. I can't tell if it's fan or hd related, but it's extremely annoying. It's definitely internal, and it's not coming out of the speakers (system volume is set to zero to eliminate feedback possibility). If I had to identify the sound source, it would seem to be coming from somewhere between the Tab and F8 keys. Weird, I know, but that's the best I can describe it.
