I just recently bought this Hp split x2 for school purposes, but my husband wanted to play World of Warcraft in my laptop. usually the of the screen feels so hot after he played for atleast 3 hours. I don't want him to mess my laptop. sometimes his game freezes.Â

I have a refurbished aspire 6930G, fairly new, and for some reason it will not play my GTA IV disc. The drive just makes a whirring noise as it tries to autoplay and nothing happens. I've tried the disc in other machines and it works fine, and my computer has no trouble playing other CDs, DVDs etc. It's just that particular one. Does anybody have any idea why that might be, and what I could do to fix it?
I'm running vista home premium and I have service pack 2.
it installed but keeps crashing at startup! i ahve no codecs, i hear it may be caused by realtek or because vista is fail. i came hear cause maybe someone with an aspire 6920g or with an acer can help. so if any fellow aspire 6920g know how to fix the crash at startup that would be nice, and i already updated the patch.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a big problem with my acer 7520. The problem is that i cannot play anymore new games or even watch any movies on my laptop. I got the laptop about a year and a half ago and everything worked great. I could watch movies even when other applications were open. I could play pretty demanding games on it that ran very well. And now about 3 months ago all that luxury stopped and i cant do any of those things anymore. Even an old game like rome total war runs at 9 fps or lower on the main map, i didnt even bother going into battle. Movies stutter and skip frames, and sometimes even get stuck on the same frame with the sound still going as if everything is fine.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI just got my dv6-1131ea, one of the reasons was so I could have better gaming ability with the Radeon card, now I'm playing the Sims 3 and all I get is the following message when I start it up:
"We strongly recommend that you update your video driver"
Which is all well and good but I have the latest driver, there is nothing new on the HP site, or via HP Update, or Windows Update. If I try and install the latest catalyst package it tells me that I already have the most up to date driver.
The game is pretty choppy even at low settings, I have expected it to be much smoother than it actually has been, It's just not smooth and when I scroll around I get choppyness, I'm guessing it's to do with the video drivers but how the hell can I update them when I already have the latest?

I have a HP Pavilion G7-1365dx Notebook and I recently have been having issues with the screen turning white while running Netflix or Sims 3. When the screen goes white I put it in sleep mode and then wake the comupter up again and the screen comes on like normal but if I'm running Netflix or Sims 3 its only a matter of time before it happens again.

Anyone who has the Acer Aspire 1410 been able to play Battlefield 2? The game installed fine. Any time I go to start it, the screen flashes a few times like it's loading, then just dumps back to desktop. Has anyone successfully installed and played Battlefield 2 on this machine?

I thought it might be deactivated so i bought a bluray film so to be sure. NO GO ! I put the disk in and it opens a file with the letters aacs , not sure of that , bdvm and certificate. I'm pleased to see I'm not the only person with this problem , been trying to work it out for the last two weeks ,apparently according to the dealer, Acer Support hotline should be able to help me fix this problem, but I was searching on Google and stumbled on this website. How would the 4500MHD handle KOTOR, WarCraft III, or TorchLight? These aren't very demanding games and I was hoping to be able to play them on the go...
Honestly, the 1810T is a very nice little system!
I reboot and it works excellent now. Don't know why, but it was ejecting every disc I put in, even blank ones, so I rebooted. For some reason it must not have liked the very first Blu-Ray I put in ever, and set of the ejections. Its ok now. Odd.
For the first time ever I have bought a Blu-Ray DVD. I put the DVD in my DV9774ca "Blu-Ray" drive and expect Media Center or something to come up, yet the disc drive is making its searching jiggedy jig noises for a few moments, then it ejects it and nothing happens on screen. No programs open or anything.
I only use laptops for some wifi, docs and music but I thought it was time for a slight upgrade so I found a deal on a Studio 15 and bought it.
I would like to start playing some games, not serious, but just some fun games to pass the time.
Below is my config, I am not sure what kind of games it can handle.
The system ended up costing me $735 brand new at Dell with my discounts.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am looking at the Sony VGN-FW378J/B. One of the features I like about it is the Blu Ray. I rent mostly Blu Ray from Netflix as I have the PS3 and can watch them. My girlfriend doesn't so I figure I am in the market for a new notebook, I may as well get the Sony with Blu Ray and HDMI and I can take it to her house and watch Blu Ray on her TV through my laptop. I didn't think anything of it until I was listening to a computer show where they said that some computers won't allow you to play the Blu Ray through the TV.
They called it "mirroring" I believe. Either something in the hardware and DVD protected it from playing on the TV.
So My question is, has anybody hooked their Sony notebook to their TV through the HDMI cable and played a Blu Ray movie? And if it did work how was the quality?
While back, looks like user "WeAreNotAlone" has solution to my recover reinstall of Quick Play on dv8301nr with 2-each 80gb hard drives, posted o5-25-06, #268 under HP Notebook Forums, HP notebooks, HP's Quick Play v2.0.
Fix was to remove or re-size the extended (logical) partition to allow totally free, unpartitioned space at the end of the drive.... Then run the QP v2.0 installer...
How do I do this?
I wiped both hard drives (after getting frustrated), Put in HP's Windows XP recovery DVD (that I ordered from HP specific to my dv8301nr) and subtracted 1024 from available (but ended up with 1020, somehow?), then installed HP's Application and Programs DVD, and, after long online chat with HP live help, installed their update for installing Quick Play. But i still get Error 2147418113 Quick Play Componnent Move Data error. How do I remove or re-size this logical partition thing-a-ma-jig? Thanks.

I've installed Flip4Mac and I still can't listen to music that's using the WMP plugin on Firefox. I can't see the play, pause, etc. controls on the website. Sometimes, the music would play, but most of the time it won't. If it does play, I still can't see the controls for it.

A really good dedicated Graphics card, could play Civ 4 at fairly high settings, 1280x800 no problems.
Now I tried to play the ESiR rip of Saving Private Ryan, no juice.
I tried it in Win 7, nothing, I installed Win 7 RC1, still couldn't do it.
I'm talking a new installation, no software, just VLC.
NOW, the funny thing is my friend, on his Black Macbook (2.4GHz, 4GB ram, bad Intel Int GFX) can play blueray rips PERFECTLY, while doing a million other things.
SO I buy his laptop because he upgraded, install a fresh copy of OSX, and guess what? It still dosen't play (although the hardware is 1000x better than HP's) I don't understand why VLC uses ALL of my CPU, and when I close EVERYTHING, and restart finder 8 times because I can't close it, the thing still stutters. I can watch stuff, but it will freeze on a frame and stutter.
It's not just private ryan, I have Terminator 2, 3, 1, and a lot of other movies.
I've tried quicktime, Realplayer, Nice Player, VLC, WMP, ect.
My friend says it might be the MKV file container, because when he was playing them on his brand new uMBP, they went fine, but he couldn't skip through the video without it glitching (pause and unpause to shake off the 'blocks'). I've never really been able to skip through a video without it hanging or getting the 'blocks'. Even a 10mb AVI sometimes gives me issues. He said it was a bad rip because he couldn't freely 'scroll' through the video.
Could this be some hardware issue?
720P AVIs do seem fine, but everyone puts their stuff into MKV. I thought MKV was better than AVI.
If I convert these into H.264 or something, will that solve the problem?

This is the second XPS 16 I got within 4 months. after 47 calls to XPS tech support and 2 system exchanges just to still have the same issue.
when I log into my facebook account and try to play farmvile the system freezes up and flashes from a white screen to black and so on until I have to force shut it down and restart. now, I know that for $2700.00 dollars I should be able to play a simple beta game.
looking it over, looks like the xps has met its match.

I have been looking around for a Dell Studio 15. I want to use it for photo-editing, office-stuff like databases and some gaming.
My question is about this gaming part. i am defenitely not a hardcore gamer, but i would like to play: The Hunter (www.thehunter.com) in particularly.
