View 5 Replies View RelatedI have this Aspire 6920G with a beautiful 1080p screen.
My only concern is that when I switch between different displays, the size of the desktop objects and icons changes (see caputres below). And that occurs even when I connect my laptop to a 1080p LCD screen, with which the resolution does not change (I checked in the nVidia control panel).
After I disconnect/switch back to the original screen, the icons size is still not right and I need to reboot my computer to get them to their original aspect.
Any solution for this not to change everytime I connect an external monitor?
I don't know if it comes from Acer or Windows 7...
How to zoom (increase text size) on the aspire switch 10? My other computers have a settings for this, Also, where can I get a user's manual. They are requesting a number I neither can find, or can't understand where it is, or can't read even with a magnifing glass.

I love the Acer, just not its keyboard and miss the thinkpad keyboard - which really encourages typing. The acer really doesn't.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI own a 3.5 years old Acer Aspire 5742G (Core i3 M380; NVIDIA540M). the heat sink or the collinig fan might have some issue as it usually gets overheated when playing games (even CS condition zero/1.6). I don't play games anymore, so its not a problem.
The problem is that I am unable to adjust the screen brightness from the keyboars shortcut (Fn+ Left/Right arrow key), neither from the control panel (Power Settings).
Although I do noticed something that, if I change my brightness settings (nothing happens) and I close the laptop lid (display screen) by folding it down and openeing it back after 3-4 seconds, the brightness is now changed.
Screen automatically dims as I go in little dark areas and gets too bright when it has so much light around it. I am trying Fn+ arrow keys but they make very less difference. Is there any way to control this?
I am using Windows 8.1 and display drivers are Intel HD Graphics Family version 10.18.10.3316.
My Aspire E15's brightness is locked at maximum capacity. I can't change it in power options or with the Fn key. It is the same whether connected to the AC adapter or not. While using the Fn key and pressing Fn+Left Key or Fn+Right Key, the on-screen brightness indicator alternates between two levels but the brightness of the screen doesn't change.

Does anybody know why the size of the mini screen changed from 10.2 to 10.1, the resolution dropped slightly because of that too. I bought one in November with the 10.2 and they are sending a replacement with the 10.1, any reason to just keep the 10.2 and repair it.

When I put my switch 10 to sleep, and then re-open it, the keyboard is not working anymore, like it has problem recharging drivers. Same issue happens sometime when I use it in tablet mode and then reconnect the dock to it, I've a very hard time trying to make the keyboard and touchpad working again. The fact is that the usb port on the dock doesn't seem to have any problem at all, only the touchpad and the keyboad. I can't figure out if that's a software or an hardware problem.

The problem is that the new Lenovo Energy Management tool doesn't let me swith the mode "Best Battery Heath". Everytime I click on it, it is automatically switched back on the "Maximum Battery Life" setting.
I also didn't find any tool where I can set my preferences (Best Battery Healt as standard). I have never had this problem on Windows 7.
The brightness on my HP 15-r018dx Notebook PC won't change, not using the function keys or the slider in "Power Options". This started happening two days ago; before then I had no issues. I am not sure what changed between then and now.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI manage to pair my 2-in-1 pc Acer Switch 10 with an externat Bluetooth (bt) device only when the tablet is connected to my home wifi network. As soon as I disconnect from the wifi network, the pairing with the bt device is disabled. If I try to pair the bt device when wifi connection is off, the pairing succeeds just for a few seconds (1 or 2) and then it disconnects.
The support assistance of the bt device, since it actually manages to pair with the pc in such wifi wird conditions, suggested that it probably can be a problem due to the chip of the pc that probably manages both the wifi and the bt connections and is not able to manage them separately.

I have a problem changing my BIOS settings after installing win8.1 and enabling bitlocker. I wanted to reformat the partition it was on, so I wiped it with gparted and now all settings in bios are greyed out and I cannot change anything. What can I do to be able to edit my BIOS?
I also have linux installed on my computer if I could do anything from there.

I've decided to just spiff up my current machine verses buying a new one as Dell is missing tons of options for customizing notebooks lately and I'm tired of waiting around for them.
Also, I'm assuming it's fairly easy to remove the old keyboard? I'm guessing a few of the screws on the bottom of the notebook are the keyboard screws although I'm not sure which ones they are
i just bought an acer aspire 5102wlmi without a HD for a friend. so i went and bought a HD and proceeded to install windows XP home service pack 2.
the problem is it constantly stays in a loop, i load and boot from the disc, it copies all the files, reboots, loads the files, says starting windows, and then just starts all over by going back to the setup screen. i've formatted the drive and made multiple attempts. had anyone else had this problem? if so what is the solution?
I have got acer TravelMate P253-E. since last restart it is unable to load windows 8. whenever I start it says"preparing disk recovery" and after "do not turn off the device this might take more then hour" and goes on like this forever. I left it one whole night but was still the same.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an ACER ASPIRE 5755 laptop with 4GB RAM and 500 GB Disk. Now the issue I am facing is, it doesn't boot up. It just sits at a screen for sometime and then even if we reboot it goes to the same screen which is much prior to loading Windows and I believe just after the POST. I checked in the BIOS that hard-drive was not getting detected. I unplugged replugged ..took it out, put it back in but nothing worked. Than I removed that hard-drive and replaced it with a working hard-drive of my fren's & eventually it booted up fine. Hence this isolates to be an issue with the hard drive. Now my question is that, "is there any upper limit on the size of the hard-drive (as the inboxed one was 500GB)". I am planning to take 1TB hard drive. So will that work In addition to this, is there any link provided by Acer which I can browse and check what all Hard-drives are supported / compatible / recommended by Acer. I have been a big fan of Acer Laptops from a long time and would not want to buy a new laptop just because of this simple hard drive issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am quite bugged by the Caps Lock onscreen display, since I cannot find a way to only turn off the capslock display without turning off all displays.
This display drops my FPS from about 70 to 40 when I'm playing video games which is bugging me a lot. But I would like to keep my other displays like soundlevel and screen brightness.
And yes, I know that it is possible to keep the capslock display for only 3 seconds when turning it on too, but I want it to be not displayed at all. I have a green light on my keyboard which is good for me.
So is it possible to completely turn off the capslock display without turning off the other displays?
I just want to know that i have recently purchased the dell inspiron 15R N5520 at that time there is no 10-key number keyboard option available in this series of laptop but recently i saw the laptop which contains the 10-key number on keypad. so is there any option so i can change my keyboard with numeric one(hardware upgrade)??

I got it a couple days ago and it definitely takes some getting used to. But that phase is over now and I love this keyboard. The build quality is amazing and typing feels just like my MBP keyboard.
