My Aspire E15's brightness is locked at maximum capacity. I can't change it in power options or with the Fn key. It is the same whether connected to the AC adapter or not. While using the Fn key and pressing Fn+Left Key or Fn+Right Key, the on-screen brightness indicator alternates between two levels but the brightness of the screen doesn't change.
View 3 RepliesI own a 3.5 years old Acer Aspire 5742G (Core i3 M380; NVIDIA540M). the heat sink or the collinig fan might have some issue as it usually gets overheated when playing games (even CS condition zero/1.6). I don't play games anymore, so its not a problem.
The problem is that I am unable to adjust the screen brightness from the keyboars shortcut (Fn+ Left/Right arrow key), neither from the control panel (Power Settings).
Although I do noticed something that, if I change my brightness settings (nothing happens) and I close the laptop lid (display screen) by folding it down and openeing it back after 3-4 seconds, the brightness is now changed.
Screen automatically dims as I go in little dark areas and gets too bright when it has so much light around it. I am trying Fn+ arrow keys but they make very less difference. Is there any way to control this?
I am using Windows 8.1 and display drivers are Intel HD Graphics Family version 10.18.10.3316.
The brightness on my HP 15-r018dx Notebook PC won't change, not using the function keys or the slider in "Power Options". This started happening two days ago; before then I had no issues. I am not sure what changed between then and now.

I updated to the latest bios available and also installed WINXP SP3. The HDD is only detected as 137GB on the bios and 128GB roughly on windows. I heard that WINXP SP1 and above supported 48-bit LBA and I did not see an option to add partitions to utilize all space on my HDD. I also tried PM 8.0 and it did not see the extra space. I am in a bind and would like to use my space on the hard drive.

I was starting up the laptop and plugged it in during the startup sequence because it was very low on battery. Ever since this the laptop will not reach its full brightness. When i use the function keys to adjust it the bottom half of the brightness bar does nothing meaning the max value is not reached. This also happens under power and control panel brightness options.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Aspire 5750G that started out with 1TB of disk space. Now it says I only have 100GB free of ca. 650 GB! How did 1TB turn into 650 GB?! I've been trying to use Nero Backitup 2014 to back up my drive to my NAS, and couldn't - I think the capacity shrinkage is why. (Nero tells me there isn't room on my laptop to update, even though I'm trying to update FROM the laptop to the NAS. I went through the procedure with Nero Support, and they couldn't find out why it was happening.) I've done a disk defrag, but still haven't regained the missing capacity.

Problem: My 1TB capacity (not usage) appears to have shrunk to 650 GB.
Program troubles: Nero Backitup 2014 can't deal with the missing capacity, even when I try clearing out my NAS and doing a repeat backup. The exact error message is: It is not possible to sync because the space is full at this location: (My C: drive) Check the space and try again.
Tried: Defragging, no luck.

I'm looking into buying this laptop. Certain online websites, such as Acer's, have said that it's maximum resolution is up to 1920 1080, but I am not sure if this is true for all model of the 6930. Other websites say that it only goes up to 1300 something.
