The number keys on the right are locked and I cant use them. When I press the numlock key it just beeps and a pad lock open and shut on the screen.
I bought this laptop especially for these number keys.
My keyboard has started being erratic and not responding when some keys are pressed. I use the notebook mostly as a docking station, with a larger monitor and separate keyboard, so it's not an issue of the keys being misused or over-used. It's not related (as far as I can determine) to caps lock or any interference with USBs. It happens when I'm booting up as well as when I'm typing in a document and with nothing attached to the computer other than the power cable.

Fairly new Acer E1 522 laptop.
I just got my Z50 2 days ago and I've noticed after typing a bit that some keys arent picked up if they are pressed in the corners. The key does down all the way but is not registered.It does not happen on every key, but 'F', 'T', 'H', 'V', 'B', 'M' and 'O' are really easy to reproduce for me.Is this a bad keyboard I received or just the normal quality of Lenovo?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe keyboard on my HP Pavilion g6 is locked. It was working and then my cat ran across the keyboard and must have hit a key that locked it. The mouse pad works. No cap lock or number lock on. I have already tryed:
1) going in control panel and unchecking everything in make keyboard easier to use.Â

2) Took the battery out for a few minutes.Â

3) have rebooted computer may times.
I downloaded the bios update for this model from acer.co.uk site.
My bios is 1.4 latest is 1.10.
I ran insydeflash as instructed by the .txt file and it froze my laptop the mouse or nothing could be pressed
It just said intialising for about 20 mins. In the end i had to pull the battery and hope no harm was done. Was a tense moment but luckily my laptop came out alive
Anyone know of this happening before or how i could stop it from freezing?
The numbers 1-4 on my Y580 keyboard don't work anymore. I only realized this recently as I had been using a separate USB keyboard for some time. I've tried all sorts of things - uninstalling and uninstalling the keyboard drivers in Device Manager, reinstalling the BIOS, unchecking all the boxes under the accessbility options, scanned the computer for malware...but nothing seems to work.

I've also installed Windows 8.1 and replaced my HDD with an SSD...
I bought dell xps15, last year in January, from past  week, I am facing problem with the keyboard keys, number keys are not working at all, it affects the special characters also, earlier I thought, it could be some keyboard driver related problem, so I even tried on Ubuntu OS also, it din't workout either. Then I formatted my complete system, but unfortunately nothing good happened.

Few number keys and space bar is not working. Other keys are working fine.

While using the Fn key and pressing Fn+Left Key or Fn+Right Key, the on-screen brightness indicator alternates between two levels but the brightness of the screen doesn't change.

I went to try and configure this computer for my own use, but turns out there's (what im assuming to be a BIOS password, since the HDD has been replaced) a password to access the F2 SETUP Menu on this machine. i was really hoping that since I've already upgraded the RAM and replaced the hard drive that i could get this machine actually functionable again.
In admin mode my hard-drive password is locked. My Acer is an eBay refurb w/ out warranty. What are my "free" options?

I've just recently bought my acer aspire e1-570g notebook, and it makes a short single beep at random times. Sometimes it does't occure for hours, and sometimes it happens twice in a minute.I've already checked the Ram, CPU, GPU, Hard Drive with tester programs, even reseated the ram, but the beep didn't disappear.

I have the InsydeH20 bios. Â Any beep codes I can get ? I tried removing the memory 1 at a time, and same thing still happens.
My laptop is an Aspire V3-571-6447 with windows 8.1 os.For the past month or so it starts beeping and then the screen goes dim and then it beeps and brightens up again. This might go on for 3 or 4 minutes and then it stops. Is this an indication of a problem? It doesn't seem normal to me and from what research I have done it seems that beeping is not a good thing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to order a replacement screen to replace the original one which cracked after being stepped on by my boyfriend. The computer still worked then though if plugged in through an external monitor (like VGA or HDMI), but since I replaced the screen, even that won't work. I might have severely messed up by being impatient and forgetting to take the battery out before replacing screens. After I replaced them, realized my mistake, and took the battery out and put it back in again, it still wouldn't get past the problem: When I turn it on, charging or not, the power light and sleep mode light blink very slowly (blue), and the laptop beeps every ten seconds or so. The screen won't turn on at all either, even if plugged into an external source. I've tried it with and without the battery in and it hasn't turned on either. After further research of the problem, the most promising thing seemed to be reinstalling the BIOS (google "Acer Dead Screen Problem"), and I downloaded it off Acer's website and tried running it via flash drive as all the tutorials wanted me to. Nothing happened. The only difference from the tutorial is there's supposed to be an executable file with the BIOS download, but it wasn't in the folder.

You would have to "F2" to the BIOS then exit the BIOS, then start up screen to come up again, beeps again repeat "F2" back to BIOS, but eventually XP would load. Unfortunately everything was sluggish, keyboard wouldn’t work right. So in my limited computer knowledge I decided to reformat the notebook. I could not find any back up disk that came with the notebook so I created a back up disk from factory settings via the Acer eRecovery Management process. I have ran this recovery disk twice. Both times I have installed the recovery disk I get NTLDR missing as well as the beeps have not gone away. From some online research beeps mean computer is telling us something is wrong with the hardware. Number of beeps tells what specifically; unfortunately I can’t find what continuous beeping means. NTLDR missing I found usually means that the computer is looking in the wrong place for the file.
I have no idea what I should do next to resolve the problem. Should I go out and buy an OME copy of XP Pro. Will friends XP Pro disks work as long as I use the XP Key found on the bottom of my laptop? How can i figure what hardware is causing the notebook to beep?
Ideally what I would like to achieve is a clean install with the most limited amount of Acer bloat ware installed. I am trying to find a list of what programs are needed and what programs are bloatware.
i have a acer aspire 3000 i got from some relatives but when i turn it on it turns on i can here the fan kick on an the dvd drive go click click and stuff but then fan stops and it goes dead silent and the screen never shows anything from the beggining by any chance do those little switches that shut off the screen when u close it ... .do they ever brake ...? ive tried hooking it up to another monitor but it doesnt show a screen of anything but it must send some type of a signal cause its just a plain blank screen and once i unplug it it sais no signal no signal all over

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had this laptop for only a year and the other day when plugging in my power while the laptop was on, left keys on the keyboard stopped working. A friend suggested I take the battery out for a bit and then plug it in without the battery. So I did and the keyboard worked for a couple of days like that. Then one day it stopped working again.
To be exact these are the keys that are not working:
Esc, F1, F2, F3,
~, 1, 2, 3,
Tab, Q, W, E,
Caps Lock, A, S, D,
Shift, Z, X, C,
Ctrl, Fn, windows, Alt

If you want it to point to other programs, simply
1. copy and paste onto notepad
2. Change "wmplayer.exe" to something else the reason I don't use the full path is because wmplayer is in C:Windows and the shortcut can automatically find anything in C:Windows.
3. If the program is in Program Files you have to use the full path eg."C:Program FilesXXXXXX.exe"
4. Change the Label and description (although it doesn't work as in display the word Windows Media Player when you click it)
5. Save as backup.reg
6. Double Click then Confirm and you are done.
7.There are other keys however I don't recommend modifying them as they are pretty useful like battery saver mode and Wireless Shortcut.
8.To Locate other shortcut keys find the executable path and trace it to the specific keys.
9.LManager (LaunchManager) always hold the key data.
I have an acer aspire 1355lc the keyboard does not register any keys when typed and if I connect an external keyboard to the unit weird thing happen. Uppercase becomes lower case the numeric pad does not work and the function keys do not perform the correct function.
