I have Acer Aspire TimelineX 5820T / 5820TG, in my laptop FN Keys are not workinkg like ( FN, Enter (Tn) , F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9, F10, F12, Left and right Bright, up and down volume) ....
I have had this laptop for only a year and the other day when plugging in my power while the laptop was on, left keys on the keyboard stopped working. A friend suggested I take the battery out for a bit and then plug it in without the battery. So I did and the keyboard worked for a couple of days like that. Then one day it stopped working again.
To be exact these are the keys that are not working: Esc, F1, F2, F3, ~, 1, 2, 3, Tab, Q, W, E, Caps Lock, A, S, D, Shift, Z, X, C, Ctrl, Fn, windows, Alt
I am using an external bluetooth keyboard now and those keys work using it. I have also replaced the keyboard on the laptop but the Keys WAZS still do not work ....
I just recently picked up an Aspire V 17 Nitro and imediately installed Windows 7 on it. Everything is working pretty well so far but I noticed the function keys are not working. The ones where you hold down the "Fn" key and then do thing like adjust the volume.
Ive had this Acer laptop E1-510p with window 8.1 and all of the sudden some of the keys accross the keyboard stop working. These keys are random and even when i plug in a generic keyboard it does the same thing ....
I've noticed our new 1810T's arrow and PageUp/PageDown keys often don't respond to presses, specifically when pressed higher on the key (along the upper border as someone says in one of the 1810T owner threads). This ends up happening quite a lot the way I situate my hands over the keyboard and the touchpad, and is a serious issue for me since I'm using these keys a lot in the development environment I use. As referenced above I've seen a few mentions of this issue on the forum, but no clear confirmation whether it is normal for the 1810T. Can anyone with a 1810T out there verify whether their unit exhibits this issue?
I've fot Acer Aspire 9423WSMi laptop with Vista Home premium preinstalled. Untill recently, it worked just fine, but the other day, my navigation keys on the touchpad just stopped responding (everything else on the pad works OK). I've tried to update the driver, but the response was that I'm using the latest driver and the device is working propperly. I've also tried switching the pad ON/OFF with Fn+F7 but to no avail.
The follow is the Registry Entry for Acer Aspire Timeline.
I already modified this key to point to Windows Media Player.
Quote:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREInventecLManagerSettingsButtonsBackup] "Command"="wmplayer.exe" "Command Type"="1" "Label"="Windows Media Player" "Remote Code"="C008" "Description"=""Windows Media Player" "Configable"="1" "Show OSD Only for Legacy"="0"
If you want it to point to other programs, simply
1. copy and paste onto notepad 2. Change "wmplayer.exe" to something else the reason I don't use the full path is because wmplayer is in C:Windows and the shortcut can automatically find anything in C:Windows. 3. If the program is in Program Files you have to use the full path eg."C:Program FilesXXXXXX.exe" 4. Change the Label and description (although it doesn't work as in display the word Windows Media Player when you click it) 5. Save as backup.reg 6. Double Click then Confirm and you are done. 7.There are other keys however I don't recommend modifying them as they are pretty useful like battery saver mode and Wireless Shortcut. 8.To Locate other shortcut keys find the executable path and trace it to the specific keys. 9.LManager (LaunchManager) always hold the key data.
I have an acer aspire 1355lc the keyboard does not register any keys when typed and if I connect an external keyboard to the unit weird thing happen. Uppercase becomes lower case the numeric pad does not work and the function keys do not perform the correct function.
I have an Aspire 5733Z laptop. I just recently lost the capability to adjust the volume using the keyboard shortcut of Fn key with up or down arrow keys. I have uninstalled and installed the Realtek HD driver.
I was using the laptop today and my keyboard stopped working. I can't get the keys to work. I am using windows 7 home. I tried restoring my os to a good working point, then ran a virus check in case it may have been a virus.
My Acer Aspire V5 123 suddenly shut off when I press any keys on the keyboard. So, in order for me to log-in, I just used the on screen keyboard to enter my password. I just bought this laptop 6 months ago, and I seldom use it.
My keyboard has started being erratic and not responding when some keys are pressed. I use the notebook mostly as a docking station, with a larger monitor and separate keyboard, so it's not an issue of the keys being misused or over-used. It's not related (as far as I can determine) to caps lock or any interference with USBs. It happens when I'm booting up as well as when I'm typing in a document and with nothing attached to the computer other than the power cable.
I have an Aspire 5733Z laptop and I love it dearly. I just recently lost the capability to adjust the volume using the keyboard shortcut of Fn key with up or down arrow keys. I have uninstalled and installed the Realtek HD driver.
I bought Acer Aspire V3-772G about a week ago. It was without an OS which I installed myself. First I installed win 7. When I was trying out new PES 2014, I had a problem with movement with arrow keys.
I mean no diagonally moving or anything. Only up, down, left, right. Laptop doesn't recognize multy pressed arrow keys. At first I thought it was an windows issue cause all drivers in Acer support page are for win 8. Installed win 8 and still same problem.
My uncle bought a Aspire E1-572-6870 series notebook six months before for me from USA. After using 10 to 15 days I noticed the internal speaker is not working. But the headphone and/or microphone is working very fine. I went to a local laptop repairing shop for diagnosis. Unfortunately they were unable to find out the actual problem. They suggest me to change the speaker chip may result solve the problem. Before changing the chip I want to diagnose once more for accuracy about the problem. Any online check can be possible?
My cousing bought an HP Compaq 6720s a few month back, and suddenly part of her keyboard stopped working. All keys on the right third of the keyboard stopped working.
I recently purchased an HP 250 G2 laptop with no operating system (freedos) After Installing windows 7 home premium x64 I went to the HP support web page and downloaded all drivers, installed them and everything seems to work without problems.
The only problem is that the HP support page does not have any drivers for the keyboard and the outcome is that all the FN keys are non functional.
In device manager the keyboard is shown normally because windows 7 automatically installs drivers but these are not 100% compatible so that FN keys would be working.
it is very important to be able to use fn keys so that I can change brightness, sound level, and tun on/ off wifi.
This is almost a classic problem. I just installed XP SP3 on a Vaio G11. I did everything according to Sony's plan. But the brightness keys don't work.
Is there a chance that Sony's drivers were written for XP SP2, and that SP3 is the cause of my problems?
Reason I'm thinking this is that SP3 recognized some devices that SP2 doesn't recognize
I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate version x64 on my Sony VPC-CW13.
But the function keys are not working properly. The volume one work but no OSD. Contrast, and monitor selection one since like it is not working at all.
any tips?
I install all the driver available on the esupport.sony.com website, but still no luck
i upgraded my hard drive and installed windows 7 this weekend. Everything is working fine except for my fn keys will not work.
I have looked high and low through the forums to try to find a fix. I have been installing Sony drivers for the past 3 hours, rebooting between each installation, and it still isn't working perfectly.
I've gotten to a point where the Volume keys work, and when I push Fn+F5 to lower the brightness, the little brightness meter pops up and the sound is made. But, the brightness won't go any lower than maximum.
The screen is really bright and it's killing my eyes, and draining my battery crazy fast!
