My Acer Aspire V5 123 suddenly shut off when I press any keys on the keyboard. So, in order for me to log-in, I just used the on screen keyboard to enter my password. I just bought this laptop 6 months ago, and I seldom use it.
View 3 RepliesI am having a problem with my keyboard on my dell studio 1737. When you press certain keys on the keyboard the adjacent keys are activated as well as the key itself. I've tried various techniques I've read about to correct the problem such as removing power from the laptop for an extended period of time and installing new bios drivers but nothing seems to work. From the information I can gather this is a common problem with this model of Dell laptop. What is the best way to correct this problem. Will replacing the keyboard correct this problem or is there some other problem causing the malfunction?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHave an issue with the keyboard on the HP Envy 17. There are three keys that, for whatever reason, stopped working.
The "o" key produces zero, left key, home, period, 'o', and 'p'.
The 'L' key produces three, period, page down, six, 'l', and semi colen.
The '.' key produces '2', '5', end, '4', period, and forward slash.
This happens every time the key is pressed. If held, they produce the above, then the last key repeatedly.
All other keys perform as expected. If a seperate USB keyboard is used, it works fine.
I've tried updating and rolling back the BIOS, as well as 'resetting' by removing all power for a few minutes. Have also uninstalled the driver, then installed the latest.
I also purchased a replacement keyboard from HP (part #720244-001) and installed.
recently ive been having this keyboard issue for like a week now. before this i dont think ive had this problem since i bought my laptop last year. when i press numlock some of my keyboard keys change values. ill try to type a smple with numlock engaged:

I have an acer aspire 1355lc the keyboard does not register any keys when typed and if I connect an external keyboard to the unit weird thing happen. Uppercase becomes lower case the numeric pad does not work and the function keys do not perform the correct function.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard has started being erratic and not responding when some keys are pressed. I use the notebook mostly as a docking station, with a larger monitor and separate keyboard, so it's not an issue of the keys being misused or over-used. It's not related (as far as I can determine) to caps lock or any interference with USBs. It happens when I'm booting up as well as when I'm typing in a document and with nothing attached to the computer other than the power cable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought Acer Aspire V3-772G about a week ago. It was without an OS which I installed myself. First I installed win 7. When I was trying out new PES 2014, I had a problem with movement with arrow keys.
I mean no diagonally moving or anything. Only up, down, left, right. Laptop doesn't recognize multy pressed arrow keys. At first I thought it was an windows issue cause all drivers in Acer support page are for win 8. Installed win 8 and still same problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has a keyboard where i have to use the FN key to use the function keys at the top, instead of having to press the FN key to use the action keys. ive been looking everywhere for a way to make it so i dont have to press the FN key to use my function keys, i looked at the bios but i dont see an option to disable the action keys, nor can i find an option anywhere elce in my laptop to set it like that, id even embrace an option to go into the registry to swap the on/off signal of the FN key.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently bought the Inspiron 1545 and to be honest was actually quite struck by how simple everything was in the design. However there is only one problem that I found when I use the laptop. In order for the function keys to be used, I would need to press Fn+(Function Key) Eg. Fn+F1. Now obviously function keys are supposed to act like a shortcut key for certain activities. This actually defeats there purpose. Instead by pressing those keys without the Fn key, I would be able to use the multimedia keys and anything else on the keys with a white symbol on.
I was wondering whether there was any way in which I could swap round the functuion of the keys so that I can use the function keys without having to press Fn?

my shift keys (either side) have broken so im wondering if i can buy new keys to replace them?

i have an acer aspire 5100 series everything is great on it except i have this weird problem, when i connect to my wireless network after is says connected i open the iexplorer and then the laptop shuts off. Thats the only time it does that, if i dont connect to the internet it works fine and never turns off. First i thought it was overheating but i bought those fans that go under the laptops and still shuts off when i connect to my wireless network. Anyone have any idead of what could be causing this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have had a look on the forum and from what I saw it was at regular intervals when peoples laptops were shutting down.My laptop shuts down when moved this is often when the laptop is being picked up. I have had a fresh install and still not rectified. Therefore I feel it's down to the internals. I took it to my local shop and tbh he made a meal of it and messed up my windows so got it back and thought to have a go alot self. The fan has been cleaned so don't think its overheating as it can turn off after a min when the laptop is moved or can run for hours if left on a table or something. It makes a click sound and it shuts off.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a new Acer a few months ago and it worked fine in the beginning. In the last few weeks, it has been randomly shutting down. It does not show the normal shut down message you would see when using power button or Start Menu but just shuts off. When it comes back on, it says Windows did not shut down properly.
I seemed to have narrowed this down to when I move the screen or move the laptop.
My Acer 7520 has green keys on the keyboard that I can't access. I can't seem to find any reference to these keys in the manual.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI think that it is an overheating problem considering my laptop (ONLY recently) seems to be getting very hot, to the point it needs to shut down. But this is the strange thing:
I had Windows Vista installed on this laptop (Acer Aspire 5100) earlier, and my battery almost never heated up to the point it needed to shut down, or even heat up to an extreme level.... But now that I have downgraded to Windows XP SP2, it seems to shut down MUCH more often. But I did find one thing of concern. Around the same time my laptop started shutting down, I installed an application called 'Game Speed Changer' and that whenever I had used it, it slowed my computer down immensely, and then when I went to close it, the BSOD would appear. Every time.
I'm in the repair field and I've got a customer's Aspire 5520 that was brought in for overheating. The machine had gone to Iraq, and the customer has indoor dogs..so yes, the fins on the heat pipe were very clogged. Got it all cleaned out, and the machine is still shutting itself off after between 10 minutes and 30 seconds of use.
Now, the machine isn't overheating. SpeedFan and a few other CPU temp utilities are showing the CPU to be around 45*c when the machine is randomly shutting down. 45c is not what I'd consider hot for a Turion x2.
It's not a RAM issue, I've replaced the CPU and am getting the same symptoms.
My Acer Aspire 5741G-3652 keeps shutting down while I am using it.

I have only had my acer aspire v3 771g 6814 for about 18 months. recently it has been shutting down afer 5 minutes. I took it to a technician and he said it's not a fan problem because the processor isn't over heating. so is there a way to fix this? I can't send it back because the warranty has expired ....
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought this acer laptop about 5 months ago, it was working fine up until a couple days ago that I started to notice that it would shut down after 3-5 minutes of usage, sometimes shorter, and while plugged in, it would shut down before I could even type in my password.
I'm certain that overheating is not the problem, the tempature inside my laptop hovers around 50 and it never feels hot to the touch when it shuts down.
I currently have a XPS 15 (L521X, Mid 2012) that I use at college, and it's "p" key has been getting harder and harder to press. It's at the point where hitting it does not register any action unless I press down on it. Do I have to open the laptop up/take the key out? And how do I do this?

I have tried pulling out the battery, rebooting and the only thing I get is the HP sign and then it shows the loading circle and then screen goes gray. The buttons on the keyboard register if you press them, but nothing shows up on the screen.
