I have only had my acer aspire v3 771g 6814 for about 18 months. recently it has been shutting down afer 5 minutes. I took it to a technician and he said it's not a fan problem because the processor isn't over heating. so is there a way to fix this? I can't send it back because the warranty has expired ....

I have turned off this feature where it overheats and it auto shutdowns though power opitons, yet, it still does it. I have never see a laptop so cold have a overheating issue so I cannot be that, lets move on.
This laptop is about a year old? This is my mums laptop and I upgraded it to 8.1, re-installed directX which was such a pain (after I tried everything and become desprate ), tried other games, restored it to factor new conditon, did disk error scans, started the **bleep** laptop up though Safe mode, upgraded the drivers, updated every single thing, did deframents. I have really done everything possible even little things from making the game windowed or running Comptibility mode. There is nothing else I can do. I have changed power options, yes. There is no way to fix this peace of **bleep** laptop my mum wasted money on, even the trackpad freezes from time to time while the laptop remains working this lasts for a few seconds. This is the second product of Acer my mum has bought and its not going really well, both of them were not that great and had issues but this is by far the worst state I have seen a laptop being in and now I don't know if its just windows 8 or Acer but from what I have heard as a pretty hard-core gamer windows 8 is not to bad so, acer... I use windows 7 on all my systems and I will probably install it on my mums laptop.
Right now I am limited to what I can do, I cannot download any updates or such for that laptop at the moment It has recently been retorted to factory new or refreshed because it would not start up.
We are not sending it away to get fixed (What a waste of money), if it comes to it my mum will use my HP not ACER laptop while I use my computer. My laptop is what 4 years old? Still works fine compared to this Acer laptop.
What is going on with this acer software? Used to be able to watch blurays on something called acermedia. Did an upgrade to something with a rediculous name - BYOC, and now the abmedia solution doesn't allow viewing of discs. Is this correct, or has something gone wrong with update?

Wi-Fi is totally turned off - I mean the led isn't lightning, blinking or nothing - it's dead.
I can't use Fn + F3, it don't work at all.
I've installed LaunchManager, Fast Lane, Touch Pad and Dritek Rf button.
Now, in Fn + F3 i can turn Airplane mode, nor Wi-Fi.Is there any solution to turn this on? It stopped to work from day to a day - yesterday it works, now it isn't.
Done some formats, it don't even work on Windows 7 with Acer drivers. Maybe card is dead?
I have an Acer Aspire V3-771G which I got in 2013. I've had no battery problems before. Earlier this month I noticed that the orange charging light remained on longer than usual. I turned my computer on and noticed that it said that the battery was 98% charged and charging.I have not done the procedure of discharging and recharging the battery three times as mentioned in the manual.
I have not removed the battery since I first installed it (it came with the computer). I don't normally use the laptop on battery power unless it happens to be on during a power outage.I would like to know if I need a new battery or not, as I am concerned as to if the laptop will be continuously trying to fully charge the battery thus wearing it out prematurely.The computer came with Windows 8. I have installed Windows 8.1.
When powering up I get the Acer screen for about 10 sec and then black screen. Immediately before this there was a Windows update for the graphics card, if I remember correctly. I have tried hard power down 3 times but on the 4th time I do not get the message "preparing for automatic repair". I am unable to get into Safe Mode.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought the Acer Aspire v3-771G. I've had no problems with it, but lately it shuts down randomly without any warning, like a power cut. I've checked the CPU Temps and overheating is not the problem. The computer sits on a Targus cooling pad and it doesn't get that hot around the fans. The problem occur when the pc is running games or processes (computer scans) that require more memory than when I'm just surfing. The problem happens all from 15 mins to 2 hours into a game or so (depends on how much memory that's used). I've been doing some research myself and it seems like a graphic problem.
The computer always fits the minimum requirements for games I play and I play on rather low graphics on every game (to delay the shutdown).
The second problem is whenever I'm streaming or watching a movie the screen randomly turns into a "snow storm". Tried to move the screen up and down thinking it was something wrong with the cable from the hardware to screen but it didn't react to that. What has made this to happen due to the careful handling of the computer. But the only thing that comes to mind is something wrong with that cable... This problem happens randomly and started last week.
I've done some basic problem solving, with no success. I've tried restoring the computer to facotry setup, updating the bios and all the relevant drivers.
I've been looking for a hardware diagnostic program on the computer itself (like other good brands have) with no luck, even looked on the web. But nothing I've tried seems to find the problem.

I just bought an ACER E5-771G-54N6 and after 2 days my touchpad just stop working (Win 8.1 , 64-bit). This is obviously a software (driver) issue, and after researching and finding out that a Windows reisntall is the only solution, I find that hard to believe that this can't be fixed through a patch. These type of problems shouldn't be occurring on brand new laptops.

Right now I want to recover system to factory default but I haven't recovery disk nor recovery partition. I've got only backup five files ended with .NFB extensión and one with .CAL extensión. I've tested ghost programs and backup software but none of them could read backup files. Is there any solution for this without buying the recovery disks ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday before I went to eat lunch I turned on my laptpp and signed in. When I came back it had a blue screen with a kmode exception not handled error. After waiting an hour the getting data portion was stuck on 0 still so I forced turned it on. After that the moniter wouldn't turn on even though the laptop was on, I heard the turn on noise and could hear the fan running when I listened. I tried taking the battery out and holding the button for 30 seconds and putting it back in and after a few times it managed to turn on with the screen. But it froze at the start up logo and after another hour I turned it off and havnt been able to get the screen back on again. Is there anything else I could do?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have an acer aspire 5100 series everything is great on it except i have this weird problem, when i connect to my wireless network after is says connected i open the iexplorer and then the laptop shuts off. Thats the only time it does that, if i dont connect to the internet it works fine and never turns off. First i thought it was overheating but i bought those fans that go under the laptops and still shuts off when i connect to my wireless network. Anyone have any idead of what could be causing this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have had a look on the forum and from what I saw it was at regular intervals when peoples laptops were shutting down.My laptop shuts down when moved this is often when the laptop is being picked up. I have had a fresh install and still not rectified. Therefore I feel it's down to the internals. I took it to my local shop and tbh he made a meal of it and messed up my windows so got it back and thought to have a go alot self. The fan has been cleaned so don't think its overheating as it can turn off after a min when the laptop is moved or can run for hours if left on a table or something. It makes a click sound and it shuts off.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a new Acer a few months ago and it worked fine in the beginning. In the last few weeks, it has been randomly shutting down. It does not show the normal shut down message you would see when using power button or Start Menu but just shuts off. When it comes back on, it says Windows did not shut down properly.
I seemed to have narrowed this down to when I move the screen or move the laptop.
I think that it is an overheating problem considering my laptop (ONLY recently) seems to be getting very hot, to the point it needs to shut down. But this is the strange thing:
I had Windows Vista installed on this laptop (Acer Aspire 5100) earlier, and my battery almost never heated up to the point it needed to shut down, or even heat up to an extreme level.... But now that I have downgraded to Windows XP SP2, it seems to shut down MUCH more often. But I did find one thing of concern. Around the same time my laptop started shutting down, I installed an application called 'Game Speed Changer' and that whenever I had used it, it slowed my computer down immensely, and then when I went to close it, the BSOD would appear. Every time.
I'm in the repair field and I've got a customer's Aspire 5520 that was brought in for overheating. The machine had gone to Iraq, and the customer has indoor dogs..so yes, the fins on the heat pipe were very clogged. Got it all cleaned out, and the machine is still shutting itself off after between 10 minutes and 30 seconds of use.
Now, the machine isn't overheating. SpeedFan and a few other CPU temp utilities are showing the CPU to be around 45*c when the machine is randomly shutting down. 45c is not what I'd consider hot for a Turion x2.
It's not a RAM issue, I've replaced the CPU and am getting the same symptoms.
My Acer Aspire 5741G-3652 keeps shutting down while I am using it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my laptop (Acer Aspire 5741G).It´s a couple of years old and the battery stopped working a year back and after that I need to use the power cable.Earlier the laptop got really hot sometimes and shut itself down.I have cleaned it inside (I took the laptop apart) and also changed to a SSD drive.
After that it worked better for a while but now the same thing have happened again but there are some differences from earlier. IT´S WORSE.
1. The laptop doesn´t get hot. It´s almost cold..... I downloaded a program to see the status of the computer and from it I could read from the sensor data that the temperature is between 30-40degC (CPU usage is as low as 0-4% if I just leave it).
2. The fan starts directly when I start the computer and goes on 100% all the time (even if I don´t do anything).
3. After 3-4 minutes the laptop shut itself down. Even if I go into the BIOS at start-up and just leave it.
4. I have cleaned it again and everything but the same thing happens after I have mount it together again.
What´s wrong? Can it be the power cable (AC adapter)? But why does the fan behave like this?
I bought this acer laptop about 5 months ago, it was working fine up until a couple days ago that I started to notice that it would shut down after 3-5 minutes of usage, sometimes shorter, and while plugged in, it would shut down before I could even type in my password.
I'm certain that overheating is not the problem, the tempature inside my laptop hovers around 50 and it never feels hot to the touch when it shuts down.
My Acer Aspire V5 123 suddenly shut off when I press any keys on the keyboard. So, in order for me to log-in, I just used the on screen keyboard to enter my password. I just bought this laptop 6 months ago, and I seldom use it.

Now when i turn it on after a minute or so everything will become non-responsive and it will crash,
this all started when I first purchased my laptop (Aspire V3-572G-54S6, Windows 8.1) when it was on sale for a great price in mid-August. I had heard great things about Acer, loved the specs and look, and was excited to get it. It arrived a few days later, took it out of the box and with the first start up my display was messed up. About 1/4 up the screen tear a little and the top of the screen was being duplicated at the bottom........never had that happen before so I got in touch with Acer support chat, I updated video drivers, rebooted, did a complete power drain, etc. The problem persisted so they had me send it in for servicing. I got it back from servicing just about 2 weeks ago, and it was fixed! Or at least it was until this past Wednesday when the problem returned. Now the problem only occurs when I've had it on for 30minutes to 1 hour, as it is fine on start up. The service log/sheet I got back with it said all they did was software updates, updated BIOS, and nothing hardware related.
