Acer Aspire V3-571 :: Keeps Shutting Down
Feb 10, 2015
I have had a look on the forum and from what I saw it was at regular intervals when peoples laptops were shutting down.My laptop shuts down when moved this is often when the laptop is being picked up. I have had a fresh install and still not rectified. Therefore I feel it's down to the internals. I took it to my local shop and tbh he made a meal of it and messed up my windows so got it back and thought to have a go alot self. The fan has been cleaned so don't think its overheating as it can turn off after a min when the laptop is moved or can run for hours if left on a table or something. It makes a click sound and it shuts off.

i have an acer aspire 5100 series everything is great on it except i have this weird problem, when i connect to my wireless network after is says connected i open the iexplorer and then the laptop shuts off. Thats the only time it does that, if i dont connect to the internet it works fine and never turns off. First i thought it was overheating but i bought those fans that go under the laptops and still shuts off when i connect to my wireless network. Anyone have any idead of what could be causing this?

I got a new Acer a few months ago and it worked fine in the beginning. In the last few weeks, it has been randomly shutting down. It does not show the normal shut down message you would see when using power button or Start Menu but just shuts off. When it comes back on, it says Windows did not shut down properly.
I seemed to have narrowed this down to when I move the screen or move the laptop.

I think that it is an overheating problem considering my laptop (ONLY recently) seems to be getting very hot, to the point it needs to shut down. But this is the strange thing:
I had Windows Vista installed on this laptop (Acer Aspire 5100) earlier, and my battery almost never heated up to the point it needed to shut down, or even heat up to an extreme level.... But now that I have downgraded to Windows XP SP2, it seems to shut down MUCH more often. But I did find one thing of concern. Around the same time my laptop started shutting down, I installed an application called 'Game Speed Changer' and that whenever I had used it, it slowed my computer down immensely, and then when I went to close it, the BSOD would appear. Every time.

I'm in the repair field and I've got a customer's Aspire 5520 that was brought in for overheating. The machine had gone to Iraq, and the customer has indoor dogs..so yes, the fins on the heat pipe were very clogged. Got it all cleaned out, and the machine is still shutting itself off after between 10 minutes and 30 seconds of use.
Now, the machine isn't overheating. SpeedFan and a few other CPU temp utilities are showing the CPU to be around 45*c when the machine is randomly shutting down. 45c is not what I'd consider hot for a Turion x2.
It's not a RAM issue, I've replaced the CPU and am getting the same symptoms.

I bought this acer laptop about 5 months ago, it was working fine up until a couple days ago that I started to notice that it would shut down after 3-5 minutes of usage, sometimes shorter, and while plugged in, it would shut down before I could even type in my password.
I'm certain that overheating is not the problem, the tempature inside my laptop hovers around 50 and it never feels hot to the touch when it shuts down.

My Acer Aspire V5 123 suddenly shut off when I press any keys on the keyboard. So, in order for me to log-in, I just used the on screen keyboard to enter my password. I just bought this laptop 6 months ago, and I seldom use it.

problem with my Aspire 1410 (SU4100).
For the last few days I've realized that if I accidentally hit the back of the notebook (at the edge of the screen near the battery) while its open, it completely shuts off. The only way to bring it back to life is by taking out the battery and putting it back in. It definitely wasn't happening before. I recently got it for Christmas so its pretty much brand new.
Ive never seen something like it before. As you can imagine, it can be annoying when typing notes in class and I lightly tap the back with my knee to adjust it and it turns off. Ive never dropped it and have taken extreme care of it.
Also I'm from Canada and have the french-canadian keyboard version (not that would make a difference) and bought it from Costco, which supposedly extends the manufacturer's warranty to 2 years.

Laptop, model is "E1-531-B9604G50MNKS". Windows 8. I , its a overheating issue, that's not true at all.
I have turned off this feature where it overheats and it auto shutdowns though power opitons, yet, it still does it. I have never see a laptop so cold have a overheating issue so I cannot be that, lets move on.
This laptop is about a year old? This is my mums laptop and I upgraded it to 8.1, re-installed directX which was such a pain (after I tried everything and become desprate ), tried other games, restored it to factor new conditon, did disk error scans, started the **bleep** laptop up though Safe mode, upgraded the drivers, updated every single thing, did deframents. I have really done everything possible even little things from making the game windowed or running Comptibility mode. There is nothing else I can do. I have changed power options, yes. There is no way to fix this peace of **bleep** laptop my mum wasted money on, even the trackpad freezes from time to time while the laptop remains working this lasts for a few seconds. This is the second product of Acer my mum has bought and its not going really well, both of them were not that great and had issues but this is by far the worst state I have seen a laptop being in and now I don't know if its just windows 8 or Acer but from what I have heard as a pretty hard-core gamer windows 8 is not to bad so, acer... I use windows 7 on all my systems and I will probably install it on my mums laptop.
Right now I am limited to what I can do, I cannot download any updates or such for that laptop at the moment It has recently been retorted to factory new or refreshed because it would not start up.
We are not sending it away to get fixed (What a waste of money), if it comes to it my mum will use my HP not ACER laptop while I use my computer. My laptop is what 4 years old? Still works fine compared to this Acer laptop.

Just got the laptop today. Went to Windows Updates out of the box and boom, it shuts down. A LOT. I managed to get the 64 bit updates in but it keeps shutting down for the rest. System Restore doesn't seem to manner.
The bottom of the laptop is hot to the touch after 2 hours worth of idle usage spent on updating windows....
Specs
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6400
4GB (2/2) DDR2 667 SDRAM
320GB hard drive
Blu-ray Disc Drive
9600
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS
The only changes I've made is removing some annoying bloatware, but I didn't expect problems this fast and this early.
I hope this is not a heating issue because I would hesitate to get a replacement. 6930 owners...have you had this problem before. Does it get hot a lot? I hope it doesn't explode if I try to play Left 4 Dead on it.

i recently installed vista service pack 1 on my system which is a 64 bit OS! a couple minutes after installing and installed all necessary drivers, i then tried to install the PC game by the name of grid, half way into installation, my laptop shutdown giving me the blue screen that say hardware error and dumping memory.... i tried rebooting a couple time but same blue screen results, so i opened my system and then boot again, i then noticed my fan wasnt running continuously, it runs for a couple seconds then stops and then runagain for another couple seconds and stop, it continuously repeats that step, so i then removed the fan and cleaned out the sponge thick dirt i saw in it, blow out the dust from vents and from heat sink, then i tries booting up again and the fan behaves the same god darn way..... how can i solve this problem do you think weather or not my system is 32 bit or 64 bit, wud it affect the operation of my fan?

Thought I'd start a new thread on this one.
I got my new laptop last week, arrivied with BIOS version A03 loaded so I immediately flashed it with A04. All was working nicely for a few days and then suddenly I've been experiencing random shutdowns.
After reading through every thread I can find on the topic, most people seem to think that A04 fixed the shutdown/overheating/fan problem but it would not seem to be the case for me.
Has anyone else had similar issues? I'm gonna give Dell a call tomorrow and get the low-down but would be nice to hear from anyone in the same boat.

Sometimes when I choose shutdown, the computer goes through the shutdown process but restarts right away. This happened twice in a row. I'm not sure if this is related to power settings (High Performance, AC plugged in). Eventually it'll stop but it's kind of annoying because i have to wait until it fully turns off and make sure that it doesn't restart.

I currently own a HP DV4 1275mx laptop. I have had it since April 2009. This is a product replacement for my DV2000 that had the bad nvidia chip and left this world. It only lasted 9 months.
Here are my issues (i do say they are eerily familiar)
Its freaking hot as a volcano. So hot that I can hardly use my touchpad mouse without it hurting my fingers. I thought I was just being paranoid when I first got it since my last one got hot and then out of nowhere just died. So, I downloaded speed fan a few months ago once it started to really worry me.
The temps range from at the lowest 65C and will get up to 105C. I called HP support right away (3 months ago) they ran BIOS updates and all of that and sent me on my merry way.
Well now it likes to just shut itself off (i'm assuming a fail safe so it doesn't blow up on me). It takes a good few minutes and at least 3 or 4 tries to get it to boot up all the way again. Called HP again, ran the same updates and some diagnostics that my computer couldn't even get through without overheating. They are having me send it in for repair...............

I got a refurb Studio 16 with RGBLED display last week. Had a few dead pixels and had the screen replaced with next day service. The technician did a good job, although I almost had a heart attack watching him strip the laptop apart.
The new screen looks great, but now the machine is randomly shutting down (NOT gracefully). I haven't actually witnessed it, but instead of going to sleep, when I come back to the laptop after an extended period, it's off and Windows 7 is complaining of an improper shutdown.
Event log shows:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

I am facing a strange problem with my Studio XPS 16. It was working fine with no BSOD, crashes, hang-up etc for a week or so.
I was watching a movie this weekend and laptop was on batteries. Well by the time movie got over only 15% of battery charge was remaining (I am having a 6 cell battery). I plugged in the laptop for charging.
After while I shutdown the laptop and surprisingly after Windows did the shutdown the Laptop was not shut down and the white light on the power button as well as on both sides of the laptop (on the side of hinges) were blinking i.e

i hear a click sound whenever i shutdown my laptop. i don't know where the noise comes from, its similar to the mouse CLICK sound.
i have not enabled the start up n shutdown sound.
i think its must be the noise from the hard disk, i hear that noise every time i shutdown my laptop.
does anyone experience the same kind from your XPS M1530.

I don't know if I shoudl be posting this in the M4400 thread, so please accept my apologies if it should be.
I'm a proud M4400 owner, and have been for a while now. However, I just installed Win7 x64 (upgrade from Vista x64), and the first thing I did was install RMClock then undervolt it. I'm very familiar with doing this, and with overclocking/undervolting in general (my PC is a 4.5GHz Q9650!).
After undervolting it to 1.025v at the 10x multiplier I set about to do some stress testing, whilst also monitoring temps with coretemp.
I guess for temp measurements to be meaningful we need to start with Ambient temps. In my room it is probably around 13-15C (55-59F), as in too cold to sit around in a t-shirt (I'm in Austria, it's winter, and the heating isn't cranked because I like to run my computer cool!).

Seeing as how VAIOs drain power even while powered off, what do you guys think about leaving it on standby permanently vs shutting down? That is, is it worth it to shut down at all

I use a Vaio Z (VGNZ690) which has a tendency to shut off randomly when it is unplugged, even when it has a charge left in the battery. When this happens, I'll be able to turn the computer back on, but usually it'll shut down again very soon into the boot process.
These fits of turning off usually come and go in bursts - there might be a 10 minute period in which I won't be able to get the computer to turn on, but after that it'll be fine. Additionally, the computer seems more likely to turn off when I move it (all of these shutdowns have occurred when the Vaio is operating off the battery).
I'm also pretty sure my computer isn't overheating.

I just got my laptop back after a big headache with the motherboard...
It powers on for awhile but when i try to play any games it shuts off by itself. I called up HP tech and they suspect it to be a faulty processor. When I try to run the memory test the laptop shuts off by itself too. What are my options for upgrading cpus?
I've got a dv5-1003. FE764ua. the processors that's in right now is an AMD turion x2 64. Also I'm only running on 2 gigs of ram when it originally came with 3. The laptop won't boot on if theres a ram card in the second slot.

I came across a random thread that already asked this question- but never found a resolution. The problem I'm having right now is the thing just shuts off. I'm assuming it's an over-heating issue, but I am also wondering if it could be something else.
Computer less than six months old- I'm pretty taxing on it, but find that it shuts off when I'm playing ridiculous windows-based games like Farm Frenzy. It gets insanely hot, like while playing a windows game, I had it on my lap...
Also, I don't know if this is in any way related, but the charger that it came with blew like a week ago. Whenever I'd put my ear up to it, it'd tick. I don't know if maybe a short somewhere can cause something like that to happen.
I'm wondering if this is something I should have looked into- (I have a 3-year warranty). Or is this me just buying a crappy laptop and having to buy one of those cooling fans.
