Acer :: Checking If Keyboard Connector Is Ok On 5920g
Dec 22, 2008
take apart my 5920g to check if the keyboard ribbon needs replacing or if the connecter has come loose. Ive googled big time trying to find a guide with pics etc. Could someone help as im currently in afghan trying to keep in touch with the wife (im a brit soldier) when I can, using my laptop. The dead keys are - b,n,h,y,u,7,8. So I cant really talk properly on msn etc.
Im using the on screen keyboard to help write this message!
Some arsehole on ebay sold me a quadro with a busted connector and refused to refund. I had no idea about the 60 day policy so i was overly patient in waiting for my refund until it was too late.
Anyway, the quadro was intended to replace a 7800go that died some time ago. Is it possible to solder the connector from the dead card onto the quadro? i don't have the skills but i live in thailand and [reasonably skilled] labor is cheap.
The buttons(email,e-management,internet) above my key board quit working,my volume bar will not show up on screen, and some of my symbol keys will not work.I've tried checking my settings and restore to a previous time that I knew the computer was working correctly.
I just picked up an EX5630. It didn't come with BT which I would like to add. It has an 8pin connector for the BT module. Reading around a little it looks like this connector is no more then a USB port. 4 pins are for the USB port, 2 pins for the LED and 2 pins for the BT switch. Can anyone confirm this? If this really is just a USB port I would like to build a custom cable that runs from this port into a very small two port USB hub which I will mount inside the laptop. There is a perfect space inside to do this. Then I will rig the BT module to one of the ports on the hub and use the other port for my wireless mouse dongle. It would be so nice to not have to plug in the dongle anymore and get BT at the same time.
I am very happy with this laptop so far. Well, after wiping and reloading Vista on it. It looks like it had a ton of BS preinstalled. I had to boot it up long enough to snag the tokens.dat file and I had to acknowledge 700 popups along the way.
what should be the main things i should check once i recieve my new studio 17? heres my baby.Studio 1737, Intel Core 2 Duo T6600, 2.2GHz, 800Mhz, 2M L2 Cache, 4GB, DDR2, 800MHz 2 Dimm, Hi Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch RGB LED display (1920x1200), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650, 500G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive, Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 Home Premium 64-bit, Graphite Grey IMR with Red Trim
I have read the helpful Wiki page about the different stages in the "In Production" section and have called the 800 number to find out what stage I am in since I'm in the US. But every rep I talk to just tells me the same thing. It's in production and my EDD is July 8th.
I explained how I had read that there are 5 sub categories in the "In Production" section and I asked nicely if she could tell me what stage I was in. She didn't really understand what I was asking her not because of a language barrier, because while her english was accented we understood each other perfectly throughout the conversation.
She finally did say I was not yet in the boxing stage but could tell me no more than tha
is there a way to check if I'm going to get an LG screen based on the system identifier or any other info in a Dell outlet E6400 laptop before I actually get it?
Whenever I try to run a chkdsk either from a command prompt or from Windows, I get the message that "Disk Checking has been cancelled". I have googeled and it seems a common problem with no single sound fix.
I have an Alien M14x that when turned on displays the message "checking media" then the message "no boot device found hit any key to reboot". Of course when you hit a key it restarts the messages. I followed another feed and hit F2 to reset defaults with F9 with no success. When I tried to diagnose with F12 it says hard drive not installed???!! Haven't altered or changed anything and it stopped working less than 2 years old but out of warranty.
I have an Inspiron 5520 with Win 8 and for the last few days every time the system boots up I get the following message: "checking media (fail)". The message appears twice then the system boots normally. All the programs/apps work fine. The only "media" program I used was Windows Movie Maker and it works just fine.
My 5920G which I got for Christmas is giving me some problems.
I have gone to power options and and changed the settings so when I close the lid, nothing must happen. But when I come back in about 20 minutes after leaving the lid closed, there is no way of me getting the LCD to start up. The only way I can get past this is by pressing the power button in for a few seconds forcing it to shut down. Obviously this is bad for my notebook. How do I get this sorted out? The same thing happens if I leave the lid open and come back in a while.
I have the Acer Aspire 5920G. Since my laptop is starting to get a bit too warm, I would like to know the steps in cleaning the fan for my laptop. I already got a can of compressed air. Can someone please tell me the exact steps to clean the fan?
I have had a 5920G for nearly a year and it runs great when it is plugged in. As soon as I unplug it when it is 100% charged, the battery runs out in like 30 seconds.
Acer 5920G won't charge. When I plug in the charger the light that normally comes on to indicate that it is charging does not light up and in windows the icon that indicates that it is charging does not come up either.
My PC is the Acer 5920G best buy configuration, about two years old and no components are overclocked.
I was using it when this happened, I just noticed that the light went off and then it wouldn't charge when I plugged in the charger. As far as I know all the other components work correctly though it does have poor battery life. I was downloading a large file so I had it running for about six hours straight if that makes any difference.
I've checked the charger itself and nothing came loose. The green light on the charger also lights up when I plug it in so it is probably not the outlet that is the problem plus I've tried it in multiple outlets.
I'm pretty sure its either the battery or the charger, but I would like to know for sure and get advice from anyone else who may have had this problem.
Past few days I got my 8600M GT 256MB DDR2 GPU overheated and it is broken now. Sigh!! The system was still bootable and I did even hear the login sound not until today when I just unplugged the HDD and GPU myself. When I put them back together, I won't boot as usual. It stops loading a while after I turned it on and stays freeze until I shut it off.
FYI, I removed the HDD to copy a backup of my content into another PC. While connecting to other PC, I did change some setting on the Ownership of some folder to get it accessible. As for the GPU, I just simply removed it to take a look myself and snap some photo of it, then inserted it back as before.
So, I wonder will these techies stuff I did awhile back could corrupted the bios that would make the system halted halfway.
Additional information that I would like to share is that I have decided to replace my GPU with ATi Mobility Radeon HD3650 512MB DDR2 instead of the original and did learn the method to do so. Read on some info regarding flashing the GPU, but was not sure bout it.
I tried installing Service Pack 1 and it won't boot. Microsoft has just sent me a Vista Home Premium Repair CD that will hopefully fix it. I have Recovery Discs, but then I'll lose all my data. This is the 2nd time that my 5920G has broke like this, is there a huge design flaw with this laptop?
Is Acer always like this? It was such a high end laptop for its price (8600M GT, Core 2 Duo 1.5 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, HDMI, HD-DVD, for $1099), but I can never trust this company again.
I have a 5920g computer which I adore, sadly we always hurt the ones we love, I dropped it and broke the right hinge, because of that the plastic frame of the monitor ripped 2. It still works perfectly fine, but its annoying as hell to watch my lappy like this all the time. I called acer, and found a provider who can repair it for 400 dlrs (I payed 1000 dlrs for the lap) so well, its seem outrageous to me paying 40% of the total price for a hinge replace.
Anyway, I found the hinge and the other parts on Ebay singapore, for less tan 100 dlrs. So, heres my question, does anyone know how hard is it to replace this parts, I am a mildy medium kinda handy guy, with some hardware skills. So anyone know if this is hard, is there a guide around that can show me the process, or should I just pay the 400 dlrs and get this thing done.
Ive taken the back cover off my 5920 many times and really never took a look at it until now. What i noticed is that the vents for the ram are covered by a glossy black see through tape rather than mesh, which covers all the other vents.
Ive linked a picture below: add http into brackets
Has anyone else noticed that in their laptop? or is mine the only one where they ran out of mesh and decided tape was just as good. I wanna just rip it off.
Another thing, has anyone been able to overclock their 5920?(mines got a T8100) ive been searching for days and cant find anyone who has. I always have my backcover off and have my laptop resting on a custom dual 120mm fan notebook cooler. My idle temps are from 37-42, load is just over 60. I wanna push this thing just a bit more.
My 5920g start it wont even get to the postscreen happened right after the hdd got messed up.So i changed i figured that it was just the hdd that kept it from starting but nothing happened. So i asked and some told me it could be anything im really hopping its that its just the gcard since its the 8600m gt.One person told me to put a cd in the drive and if its spins it its probably the card and not the motherboard or cpu but idk.So best case if its the 8600m gt, could i upgrade it to the 9600m gt or the 9650m gt since they also are mxm2.
I think the bios support the 9600m gt but im not sure about the 9650m gt.
I really wana finish my fallout 3 game i was almost at the end.
I know it's possible to upgrade the hard drive in my Acer 5920G, but I've got no idea what type of hard drive to look for, and which will be compatible etc.
I got these temperatures by running orthos to stress the cpu, and furmark to stress the gpu at the same time. Are these temperatures normal for an Acer Aspire 5920g? Cause I find these temperatures rather high, and I'm wondering if these are safe. I already have applied some artic silver 5 thermal compound to the both the gpu and the cpu.
