Whenever I try to run a chkdsk either from a command prompt or from Windows, I get the message that "Disk Checking has been cancelled". I have googeled and it seems a common problem with no single sound fix.

My Inspiron 15R N1510 laptop emits a series of 5 shorts beeps, evenly spaced, on start-up. It repeats this until the startup music plays and then stops. Everything seems to run fine and I ran the diagnostics and it passed all of the tests. I am not sure how to make it stop beeping..

In windows mobility center, the 'turn on' button for the touch pad is grayed out. Is it possible that the keyboard/touch pad connections are not plugged in tightly? i don't want to to open up the laptop unless that is a good option...
I have an Inspiron 5520 with Win 8 and for the last few days every time the system boots up I get the following message: "checking media (fail)". The message appears twice then the system boots normally. All the programs/apps work fine. The only "media" program I used was Windows Movie Maker and it works just fine.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have read the helpful Wiki page about the different stages in the "In Production" section and have called the 800 number to find out what stage I am in since I'm in the US. But every rep I talk to just tells me the same thing. It's in production and my EDD is July 8th.
I explained how I had read that there are 5 sub categories in the "In Production" section and I asked nicely if she could tell me what stage I was in. I was making a Windows 7 recovery disc set, usning the Lenovo Thinkvantage tools, and one of the first pop up windows that came up said "Note: DVD RAM is not supported for Disc 1 of the Product Recovery disc set". Does this meen that I cannot use a DVDs for a Recovery discs? That is all I have.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI received the Dell N5110 laptop without OS today. Strangely package also didn't contain any disc with drivers. When I installed Windows 7 as usually it didn't recognize many devices. Ethernet controller was among those devices, so I couldn't connect to the internet and use Windows Update to find the drivers. Using my mobile phone as a modem and Windows Update I managed to get Ethernet Controller, so now at least can connect to the internet directly. But Windows Update doesn't find drivers for rest of the devices as it did for my ASUS notebook. Drivers and Download Support section for this notebook also isn't very useful, there are basically no drivers at all... So how am I supposed to find them? So annoying.. Dell, is it that hard to list relevant drivers in the downloads?

Of course when you hit a key it restarts the messages. I followed another feed and hit F2 to reset defaults with F9 with no success. When I tried to diagnose with F12 it says hard drive not installed???!! Haven't altered or changed anything and it stopped working less than 2 years old but out of warranty.

The hard disc of the laptop makes little clicking sound, which can be heard only in silence or if you keep it close to your ear, but yeah it makes those sounds continuously. I bought it last year and I noticed this sound after like 4 months. I have the latest firmware update installed and also checked the hard disc for errors, but that isn't making any effect. It working completely fine. I use it moderately, some Ms office works and a sometimes games too, like about 6 hours a day. No hangs, No high temperature and nothing.
But since I've experienced trouble with the hard disc of a PC (which crashed within days after it started making sounds), i am a little tensed about it. Should i take it to a service center? will a hard disc format be useful. The sound is louder when the device is booting.
I am using windows 7 Home basic SP1 x64, the hard disc is ST 9500325AS 500GB, 2GB RAM.
I recently run into a problem, when I wanted to install my ANNO 1404 game, I inserted the disc into my laptop, but it shows no data, it simply looks to be empty. So I tried it in my desktop PC and there there is everything OK, disc is full, game can be installed. I left it be and after few days I wanted to see a movie, but after inserting the movie DVD into my laptop, I received this error in WMP: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. In some cases, you can resolve the problem by updating the device driver for your video card." So I'm starting to think my DVD driver is somehow "wrongly set" or something like that. What can I do about it?
My OS is W7 Professional (on desktop too, so OS is not the issue), my laptop is Inspiron 15R SE 7520. Both DVDs (game and movie) are original, no stealing here.

if you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance

The buttons(email,e-management,internet) above my key board quit working,my volume bar will not show up on screen,and some of my symbol keys will not work.I've tried checking my settings and restore to a previous time that I knew the computer was working correctly.

I need to know how I can copy windows from my current 60GB HDD to my new 120GB...but I don't have a Windows Xp CD. I know there is some way to make an "image" of my current HDD? But when I research that it gets a little confusing because they are always how to's for backing up your files rater than making a CD that you can actually install on a blank HDD.
How many CD's will it take If I un-install all my programs first and basically just copy Windows itself?
I'm not interested in going out and buying an external caddy and copying directly to the new HDD externally UNLESS that is the only way to do it. I need a way that it can be done like...2day! cause i'm anxious!
Alright, my XPS M1530 which I got 1.5 years ago came with Vista Home Premium 32bit. I want to install 64 bit and I only recently found out that Dell will send you out a 64 bit disc at no cost if you have the 32 bit version of the same edition.
I asked them but since my warranty is over they can't help me.
I've looked for torrents but I can't find any for a 64 bit Dell OEM Vista Home Premium iso. All I can find are 32 bit ones..
