Aug 1, 2009i used to have 44 processes at boot but now its at 49 - 51, i have not changed anything or installed anything new? any ideas its been the same for the past 3 days or so and ive tried restarting

Apr 30, 2010The anti-glare is quite refreshing, actually, and reminds me of my 2007 MacBook Pro...
Anyway, it's blazing fast, and with a fresh OS X install on her OCZ Vertex SSD, she's up and running and very happy. She's MORE than glad to be rid of the utterly awful 1440x900 resolution, and up to 1680x1050 (though she'd still prefer 1920x1200...).
It seems a very speedy upgrade from her 2008 unibody: 2.53Ghz C2D, 4GB, etc. I have to say, the inertial scrolling is very cool, and sort of a crime that Apple is currently only letting new owners use it!

May 27, 2010I'm thinking of purchasing a 15" MBP and am debating between the standard screen and the high resolution screen. I had a studio xps 16 with the 1080p screen and though it looked great so I would ideally like to get the high resolution screen. However, I wanted to see if I could get some opinions on the readability of the screen, is text readable? Does Mac OS contain a feature like Win 7 where you can increase the text size? I really liked the look and extra space higher resolution screens offer but did notice on the studio xps that without increasing the text size text (which it did by default) text and menus were too small. What are your opinions on the macbook's high resolution screen, which do you prefer?

May 17, 2009It seems most of the people I know who do a lot of burning and use of their superdrive's on the macbook pros are buying external optical drives because the internal optical drive in the mac is failing (not responsive or working anymore).
I'm just wondering, for expensive as Macs are, why is it that this is happening? I thought with the price one could expect high quality parts and not parts that fail within the first two years of owning the laptop.

Mar 25, 2009My MacBook has been acting weird lately. Its fan speeds just go up to as high as 5k while I'm surfing the web (Firefox), 3k on average. No embedded flash videos, etc. I've searched the net for solutions and none of them work for me. I tried checking my Activity Monitor, and the app that uses the highest CPU % is Firefox at 12% at most. I happened to see Quicksilver go up to 97% for a second then it disappeared. I tried looking for any hidden Print Jobs but I had none. I have 1 stuck process according to Terminal, but that's basically it. I have a 2.4ghz white MacBook, 10.5.6.

"Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed".
This is followed by my audio going out; an alert pops up in the tray that Audio Has Stopped Working. I can turn it back on but this keeps happening I have all the latest drivers).

Acer Aspire V3-571 :: ERecovery Process Stalls - (Windows 7 64bit)
Dec 20, 2014I am using the Acer eRecovery discs (Windows 7 64 bit) on my Aspire V3-571. On multiple attempts at a recovery the process hangs at Step 41 of 60 when trying to load the OOBE (Out Of Box Experience) file. A second set of discs provided by Acer produces the same results. I have an extra 1TB WD SATA HD that I have swapped into the laptop for troubleshooting purposes. No joy there. The recovery process appears to run normally until it stalls at Step 41. It has hung at that point for an hour with nothing happening.

Jan 31, 2013I'm trying to upgrade the operating system on my laptop. Preinstalled Windows 7 x64 Home Basic, and I update to Windows 8 x64 Professional. At the end of the installation process hangs and all I see on the screen - this is the logo in the center of the screen, a few words at the bottom and five frozen in one position points that previously ran in a circle.
I repeated the installation several times, but all of these attempts have ended the same way.
Have any of you have a similar situation and how you solved it?

Lenovo Yoga 2 Flex :: No Boot Process - Preparing Automatic Repair
Apr 18, 2014I just bought a brand new yoga 2 11 only 10 days ago. I used it this afternoon, closed it up and walked away for a couple hours. This evening I tried to wake it up, and it's stuck on the Lenovo screen. After a while, it said Preparing automatic repair. It spun for 10 minutes and the screen went black. I forced shutdown and walked away, completely frustrated. Now if I try to reboot, all I see is the Lenovo screen. Nothing is happening. What can I do?!

Don't know what the problem is the processes in the task manager also don't show any large processes. Updated my BIOS and cleaned the vents still no change.
And all the games which i try to play either lag or don't start up. So uninstalled and updated the Nvidia drivers still no change.

Dec 22, 2014I am using dell inspiron 3521 windows 8 preloaded. Whenever i start my laptop. It stuck on dell logo with full blue bar. And after few minutes, a blue screen shows that some files are missing. Error code: 0xc0000185.
When i diagnosed..its showing error code 0142. Hard drive error. And when i force it to boot. It shows in black screen with white letters "no bootable device found, press any key". And when i press any key.. Its repeating the same error... Now i dont know what is happening.. Warranty over..
Acer Aspire 4752 :: Complete Operating System Setup Process Before Doing System Recovery
Sep 17, 2014Came to a point when I should completely restore the OS on my Acer Aspire 4752. Neither through Alt+F10 nor through eRecovery am I able to get around a Notice with the following "please complete operating system setup process before doing system recovery". There is only one option of this notice, that is to ok it and then the current Windows 7 Home Premium OS starts and I am not able to get out of this viscous circle. The OS works and is completely set up, so I do not understand what am I prompted to do. I see a number of postings out there, but no solution. Local Acer does not seem to know anything about the problem nor it's existence.

Jan 13, 2015I want to do a recovery of my Pavilion g6, I will have to do this from the recovery disk (D) on my laptop since I don't have it on a seperate disk or DVD.
My questions are:
- Will I have the original storage on my harddisk (my notebook has a problem since refreshing it, after the automatic recovey I lost about 40 gig storage and now it's more than 50 gigs after 4 weeks of having this problem)
- How to backup my files during the recovery process, will my computer store it on the pc or will I have to back them up to a disk or pendrive?
- These problems started after someone else used my computer. Could it be a virus infection?
My option is to go to ask the seller to do it for me, but if there is a way I can do this myself that will save me money.

Sep 24, 2009i have noticed on the dell site that they have replaced their high end systems with alienware...what a laughter for such a large company...cannot dell make there own systems anymore...even the high end desktops are being replaced with
alienware...its like chevy replacing there impala with a buick...bad move. lot of things dell had been doing lately that is non -consumer....sort of got to the point where i don,t look at the dells anymore...
so many notebooks that are non- configurable....no amd,s cpu anymore, no doubt intels are a bit faster in the desktop., but amds would be a nice second choice,,,,and they are not that much slower.
lot of bad decisions by the top brass at dell...when i buy a system,,,i want some configuration options....in a notebook, i usually want nivida, because i like to mess with linux...doens,t dell understand things like this...i don,t think they even think about it.

I just talked to a dell techie and they said it might be caused by a virus. What do you think? It's brand new and I have McAfee on all the time. (I ran fn+power on diagnose, everything's fine)
