A couple of minutes after I start up my laptop in the morning I get this alert:
"Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed".
This is followed by my audio going out; an alert pops up in the tray that Audio Has Stopped Working. I can turn it back on but this keeps happening I have all the latest drivers).

This has started happening after I tried to do a BIOS update last week and I ended up with the blue screen of death & had to recover my whole laptop.
I just ordered a hard drive from DELL website, and I got an email " Dell Order Has Been Acknowledged for Dell Purchase ID: ******* ".
the content says "Thank you for your recent order. It has been received and is being reviewed."
I just sent back a lemon of a XPS 1340 to Dell, got the confirmation that they received my return, and they noted the credit will appear on my statement up to 30 business days.....................
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to the latest IDT driver (Nov 11) from the dell webpage STACSV.EXE radomly takes up around 50% cpu usage.
I've rolled back to the July 8th drivers to see if it happens again.
My Inspiron 5110 laptop will not boot. It is displaying the Dell logo and the progress bar loads about 25%, then it stops. F2, F12 buttons are not working. Fn key + power button is not working. What can i do? The warranty has expired.

i used to have 44 processes at boot but now its at 49 - 51, i have not changed anything or installed anything new? any ideas its been the same for the past 3 days or so and ive tried restarting
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to upgrade the operating system on my laptop. Preinstalled Windows 7 x64 Home Basic, and I update to Windows 8 x64 Professional. At the end of the installation process hangs and all I see on the screen - this is the logo in the center of the screen, a few words at the bottom and five frozen in one position points that previously ran in a circle.
I repeated the installation several times, but all of these attempts have ended the same way.
Have any of you have a similar situation and how you solved it?

Don't know what the problem is the processes in the task manager also don't show any large processes. Updated my BIOS and cleaned the vents still no change.
And all the games which i try to play either lag or don't start up. So uninstalled and updated the Nvidia drivers still no change.
My xps was normal 2 days ago and now its acting weird!!

I'm reformatting my HD and it gets stuck on 31 of 32 in the cleanup stage. I had this happen last time I did a reformat but I forgot how I fixed it. I have an Aspire 5742 using Windows 7.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using dell inspiron 3521 windows 8 preloaded. Whenever i start my laptop. It stuck on dell logo with full blue bar. And after few minutes, a blue screen shows that some files are missing. Error code: 0xc0000185.
When i diagnosed..its showing error code 0142. Hard drive error. And when i force it to boot. It shows in black screen with white letters "no bootable device found, press any key". And when i press any key.. Its repeating the same error... Now i dont know what is happening.. Warranty over..
I am using the Acer eRecovery discs (Windows 7 64 bit) on my Aspire V3-571. On multiple attempts at a recovery the process hangs at Step 41 of 60 when trying to load the OOBE (Out Of Box Experience) file. A second set of discs provided by Acer produces the same results. I have an extra 1TB WD SATA HD that I have swapped into the laptop for troubleshooting purposes. No joy there. The recovery process appears to run normally until it stalls at Step 41. It has hung at that point for an hour with nothing happening.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a brand new yoga 2 11 only 10 days ago. I used it this afternoon, closed it up and walked away for a couple hours. This evening I tried to wake it up, and it's stuck on the Lenovo screen. After a while, it said Preparing automatic repair. It spun for 10 minutes and the screen went black. I forced shutdown and walked away, completely frustrated. Now if I try to reboot, all I see is the Lenovo screen. Nothing is happening. What can I do?!
View 3 Replies View RelatedCame to a point when I should completely restore the OS on my Acer Aspire 4752. Neither through Alt+F10 nor through eRecovery am I able to get around a Notice with the following "please complete operating system setup process before doing system recovery". There is only one option of this notice, that is to ok it and then the current Windows 7 Home Premium OS starts and I am not able to get out of this viscous circle. The OS works and is completely set up, so I do not understand what am I prompted to do. I see a number of postings out there, but no solution. Local Acer does not seem to know anything about the problem nor it's existence.

someone said it was better to use 64 bit vs 32 bit for vista and was wondering if this is real? and wat are the benefits of using 64 bit over 32 bit and vise versa? except to utilize all of my 4 gigs of ram.
also the dell rep said their driver support for the 64 bit was not as good as the 32 bit and was wondering if this is true?
and will some games not work on 64 bit or does that not matter?

I have a choice between 2 specific E6400's. What I really want is a backlit keyboard and the integrated graphics (battery life is important to me).
The problem is, from the two models available to me, one doesn't have the backlit, while the other has the NVIDIA.
The one with the NVIDIA is $100 more expensive. So the question is, is it possible to either upgrade manually to the backlit keyboard, or downgrade manually to the Intell 4500? How difficult and expensive would either option be?
I installed XP and everything seems ok but the computer doesnt want to suspend. When I click the power button (which is setup for suspend) or try to suspend any other way (like shutting the lid) the system will shut down but will come back online after about a minute or so. It doesnt want to go to sleep! Bad Boy. I have noticed that if I take off the power cord, it will go into suspend and stay there properly. I have tried two different power adapters, so I dont think its adapter-related. Its really annoying to have to totally shut down every time. I've tried disabling settings and hardware in the bios to no avail. I have DCP installed.I want to upgrade my WiFi link card to a wireless-n version. I guess this is the wifi link 5300 card. I actually bought one but its full height (533AN_MMW), so now I have to go an get the half height version (model 5333AN_HMW, right?!). One issue though, I dont know if my laptop has a third antenna cord in there for the third leg of the antennas. Can I add one? I am using a wireless N Dlink router.
Will this one work in my e6400?[url] I'm a little nervous about it because of the "G2" at the end of the model #, and the website says its for the centrino and I have a latitude.
I bought a new Dell E6400 laptop with Intel P8400 CPU. I tried installed Windows Vista, but the CPU experience index was only 3.0. I tried RMClock utility and it shows only 0.85 Ghz. I think I installed all needed drivers (Chipset driver, System Software etc.) and I set High Performance mode. But still 0.85 GHz. Any ideas how to force it to 2.26Ghz?

1. Good and Bad LCD manufacturers for the WXGA+ LED display.
2. Keyboard - specifically compared to a thinkpad keyboards.
3. Any Heat related issues the laptop has.
4. Other trouble spots to watch out for.
