My 15" 2.8GHz mbp works fine (only had it for 2 days now) with the stock 500gb hitachi hdd. BUT if I try to install a hitachi travelstar 320gb 7200rpm 3.0 Gb/s hdd it freezes occasionally with the color wheel of death!

i have a Sony aw290 laptop and i have install anew clean windows but when i try to update any firmware update its give error is there is away to do that with out reinstalling the original operation system ?
So i recently upgraded my Aspire 5560g to Windows 8.1. I liked it but it seemed to have lost my drivers in the process (my track pad scrolling didnt work and my Dolby audio origram was gone).   I went to  for the drivers and decided to start with a firmware upgrade (9545 for hard disk performance).    After the computer rebooted, I entered the dreaded Windows 8.1 boot loop. It would say "Your PC ran into problems..." with the bluescreen, then turn off. Then it would attempt the Automatic repair, and fail again, then restart the cycle.   I wasn't able to even get into my BIOS until I cleared my CMOS, now at least I can get into BIOS.   I created a bootable USB for Windows in hopes I could do a clean install, but even when trying to boot from a USB I get the blue Windows 8 screen, "Your PC ran into problems..."Is there a way I can undo the firmware update, it seems like the culprit, doesn't it?    EDIT: I've read that the Windows boot loop may be caused by outdated drivers. Think this could be the problem after I did the firmware update? How can I install the drivers without being able to boot into Windows?
Since updating the firmware on my LG drive (GSA-T50L) on every restart I get a message that Windows (Vista Home Basic) cannot install the driver. I click the second option, which is to "remind me later." I have to do this every time I boot up. The CD ROM is actually working OK as far as I can tell, but I'm still getting the error message. Device Manager doesn't list any driver, and trying to update it through device manager is unsuccessful.
I'm using firmware rev. SC05. I wondered if downgrading back to SC04 would cure the problem, but after hundreds of searches I cannot find the firmware anywhere on the Internet. Why it's so rare, I have no idea.
Maybe the problem has been caused by myself -- I deleted the drivers folder from the recovery partition some time ago to gain a couple of GB of drive space. However, I was under the impression that the CDROM uses Windows' own driver, so maybe this isn't the problem? I'm absolutely stumped. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?
FWIW, I have recovery discs, only I'm unsure about using them because I don't want to wipe the entire system and start from scratch. If it's possible to restore only the missing drivers folder from the recovery partition this might be a good start.
Applied 7CCN35WW over the 34 firmware. Veriface stopped working, says there's no camera present even though camera is present in Device manager. Skype is not working either, says camera is used by another process even after a fresh restart.
I have a 80 GB Sata HDD, on a (virtual ((i still dont have it exactly... ))) 5315 C2D T8300 laptop. and i was wondering if i should upgrade it. What will change exactly, is it worth it, and if yes what kind of HDD should i look for?
W540 20BG001CGE, had BIOS 1.05 and RAID 1 with two Samsung 840 EVO 1TB working fine under Windows 7 - x64. Did a (by lenovo update tool recommended) BIOS Update with the bios update manager to 2.05. Update ran fine. After Rebooting (and loading defaults, disabling Intel Rapid Start, Changing BIOS boot option to legacy first ... I recognized SATA Option (AHCI or RAID) in BIOS is gone. At boot Intel Matrix Storage Configuration doesnot appear anymore (where you can build RAID etc).   Boot then brings up message "missing operating system".   Downgrade to BIOS 1.05 impossible, due to ISO File on www.lenovo.com support is not system compatible, message "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk; Replace te disk, and then press any key") (The link to the ISO File version 1.05 at the bottom of this page links a non bootable ISO image [URL]....) Also the downgrade to BIOS version 1.08 found here [URL] .... does not work, CD also messages "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk - Replace ...").   Rewriting BIOS version 2.05 (GNET57WW) does not work (says "BIOS update not necessary").   Embedded Controller Version GMHT25WW (1.10) ME Firmware Version 220.127.116.117. How to get back my RAID controller?
I am planning on purchasing a new hard drive for my mid-2007 Macbook Pro. My MBP currently has a 120GB FUJITSU MHW2120BH, which runs at only 1.5Gb/s. However, the hard drive I want to purchase, Seagate Momentus 7200.4 runs at 3.0Gb/s. I don't know if there will be issues with this and if so, what are possible solutions?
Has anyone installed a SSD drive in this model with success? If so, does the BIOS need to be upgraded? I have a Vertex 120 SSD drive I'm not using and am thinking about putting it in the Sony and installing Win 7/32 bit.
I would like for all the current functions to work such as the camera and video card. Would this be a big issue or should I just reload the original OS(XP).
bought a new macbook pro 13.3in one with the basic specs, 2.26ghz, and 2gb ram. I am thinking of updating the ram to 4gb, and wanted advice to where to get one? i found many but dont know if there are anything specific for mac, and specific for this one. my computer says its 2gb 1067mhz ddr3.
I have a 3 year-old MBP 15" 2.4, 4gbram and I have not liked it from day one but I ran into some problems. Applecare has no idea what I should do so I am going to see what the experts say.
I downloaded and installed a firmware critical update for the fan functioning. It was for OS Tiger
Now my fans I never hear come on and the bottom near or above the battery and the top above the keyboard get hot. I would say hot because I touch it and it is amazing something does not burn. I would definitely think plastic if left there for a while it would start to bend.
I know the downloads are on apple/support but I will just damage it more. has anybody heard of this, did anybody download this update? It said what it was before it started downloaded it.
it is indeed handy to have coolbook on the menu bar and it shows that at the time when temperature went up to 80~90; the cpu was running at full speed.
at the task i was running where i underclock down to even 800mhz things were fine, but it just shot up to 2.5k ghz for no reason.
and after locking at the range of 800-1600, the temperature did indeed dropped to a more desirable temperature of 60 but still sticked to the upper limit at 1600 w/out reason.
all temperatures stated are Celsius. there weren't any cpu intensive tasks running either; once again, i turned off everything after seeing the temperature went up. since it has nothing to do with the GPU(every unibody mac user love to say this, but no, not the gpu this time.
for those who didn't know what happened prior; my macbook pro loves heat and more so reaching 80~90 w/out reason. venting is clean enough there is no visible dust gathered, it had been used with a cooler at home so it wouldn't be the entrapment from desktop material either.
