Apple :: Preview- PDFs- Fonts - Why Does Bold Type Look Weird
Nov 7, 2009While using Preview for PDFs in Snow Leopard, I've noticed that fonts that should be bold look "strange" in many of the files I have to use often.
This does not happen in Adobe Reader for OSX.
Case in point:
The bottom line is supposed to be in bold print, while the top should be "normal" (as it apparently is). Is there a Preview setting I'm missing?

Jan 10, 2009I imported photos (JPEG) into iPhoto and deleted the original folder (backup is on an external drive).
Where is that 'folder' now, if iPhoto has control of it? Can I access that folder instead of going through iPhoto?
I have trouble, conceptually, of how to edit photos on Photoshop Elements 6 with the accompanying browser.

May 5, 2010That explains it. Have a PDF where something as simple as a lowercase alpha, beta -- or a division sign -- is rendering as a blacked-out box.
In Font Book, all fonts on this machine are listed under PDF, as well. Running OS X 10.6.3.
The PDF works fine on a friend's Vista machine.

Apr 24, 2010I was very excited to order a dell vostro 1520 online, and i got a great deal on it. i ordered the laptop on the 14th of this month, and according to the email they sent me, it was supposed to be delivered by the 30th... which is pretty late but since i was getting a pretty good deal IMO, i thought "whatever, as long as its here before may 4th".
however, earlier today i got a call from dell telling me that they wont be able to build the laptop since they dont make them anymore.... ??? couldnt they have told me this EARLIER like say, LAST WEEK?
the dell vostro 1520 is STILL listed on their website (dell.com and click on small business) along with many other laptops. i dont know what to do at this point. obviously i will have to order another laptop, and it will come VERY late according to my schedules and time constraints... but which dell laptop can i order and which shouldnt i even bother with since they dont build it anymore and apparently are too lazy to update the website?

Apr 5, 2014My HP Pavillion g6-2249wm notebook has crashed twice in 2 weeks. When it came back from being recovered it had nothing in it but windows 8 (I upgraeted to 8.1)  It won't restart right. It also won't show PDFs that are on audio disc now do i need to ownload something? Also it blocks almost all clicks on links how do i stop this.

Jul 8, 2009So Dell is taking back my Dell Studio XPS 16 laptop b/c of heat issues and a complete line of stuck pixels on the screen. However, since there is nothing else on the market that I really like,
I am thinking about ordering a new one with the P8700 processor instead of the T9550. How much reduction in heat output could I expect from the P8700 and what type of performance decrease am I looking at? I read the thread below regarding the difference in the two processors but I'm more curious about the real world difference.
Also, should I opt for the 1GB of video RAM or the 512 MB version (and will the 1GB increase heat output)? I opted for the SSD option for heat reduction as well.

Jan 12, 2009Are the products sold through the Dell Outlet as good as ordering brand new? I am interested in a Studio 15 laptop, but a new one is beyond my budget.
A previously ordered new can be bought in the outlet for as little as about $650 or so. What am I losing by buying from the outlet rather than new?

Dec 15, 2008I was originally going to cancel my Studio 17 and said I had but decided to give it a shot. Its here now arrived today. I like it alot but I have a few questions. How can my order have been built and shipped so fast I never got any emails that it was in tested or anything. Just from In production to Shipped. Next Day Air Overnight it actually went from Nashville,TN to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Miami, FL in 24 hours.
#1. How can I tell if I am truly running Vista 64-bit. I went to run and typed WinVer but it didn't say 64-bit. (I did order 64-bit)
#2. I got the RGB LED screen and If I look sideways at the screen edge I can see RED and green lights in there I guess thats how I verify I really got the RGB LED. But the Gamma is off my Reds look a little to pink How do I change that?
#3. I ordered the Intel 5100 Wireless-N WiFi but how can I verify its in there?

Feb 28, 2010I just called Dell Support to cancel my order for a Dell Studio XPS 16 notebook and they said that it could not be canceled because the system is in the final stages of production. Am I not entitled to cancel before they actually ship out the system? The rep said I have to take delivery and then call to request a refund. They have not charged my credit card yet, so could I call my bank and have them deny any forthcoming charges from Dell?

Mar 28, 2010I ordered the system in my sig early morning on 3/24. At the time of the order, it was estimated to ship on 4/2 with an estimated delivery date of 4/9. When I called to check the status the next day (3/25), it stated that the order was processing. When I checked again later that night, it said it was shipped on 4/6. I checked the status again the next morning (3/26), and this time it said it was shipped on 3/28 with an updated estimated delivery date of 3/31. Now today, on the 28th, I got the 'order has shipped' email along with the FedEx tracking number. FedEx's estimated delivery date is 3/30.
Anyone have any idea why or how my order could have shipped so quickly? I never did catch it in the kitting/build/testing/boxing stages...and these stages usually take at least a few days. Could I be receiving a recently returned system that just happened to have the same specs? It seems almost unheard of to receive a new system in less than a week after ordering it...especially when considering that they are built overseas and that I picked standard 7-day shipping. Is there any way I can tell if it is a returned system?
My friends and family somewhat jokingly said maybe it's because of my previous order history. I ordered the SXPS 1645 in late November, but later ended up cancelling the order in December due to the throttling issues it was having at the time. When I cancelled the order, it was already in the build stage for a day or two. Could Dell maybe have noticed my history and "rushed" my order this time?

Aug 22, 2009Dell is sending me a replacement laptop and when I check the order details, it was placed on the 19th, it says In Production. When i call to check the status, it says my order is currently being processed. Normally replacement laptops are refurbs they just pull from teh outlet store. The delivery date is also "currently not available"

Dec 2, 2009How many of you have ordered the laptop from India? What is your experience?
I ordered on 13th November and got an EDD of 26th November. Called them up on 26th November and they said it will definitely come on 1st December and offered me a free blutooth headphones.
I called yesterday and today and the dell representative is not picking up her phone. Called the direct number and they said it hasn't come cause of a change in shipping address. I never once changed my shipping address.
