I am doing a lot of work with excel spreadsheets and I was wondering if there was a keyboard shortcut in Numbers that is similar to Ctrl-Shift-down in excel. Basically a keyboard shortcut to select a full column of cell entries that have a value in it. I can't for the life of me find it.

So I want to add in a new shortcut but I need the code for next tab and previous tab.
I'm truly torn as to whether I should get iWork '09 or Office '08 for my new Mac.
I use Excel for work and all of my older documents are Word documents from my PC. However, I don't do too much work out of my office, so I don't know which is the proper route to go. It would be nice to do whatever I needed to for work on my Mac.
With that said, I'd love some solid arguments as to why one is better than the other, or maybe they're the same. Who knows? The reviews are so mixed.
Has anyone actually purchased, installed and used the new '09 series? Pages and Keynote look like they might be worth the money, but what about iLife? Is there any compelling reason to purchase the new programs?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe right-click on the touchpad requres a great deal of pressure, is there another way to access the context menu that I normally open with a right-click of the mouse? Or, is there a way to program the touchpad on the dv6 3134nr so that I can tap to open the context menu instead of using the cumbersome right-click? My touchpad sensitivity is set as low as it goes, but this does not seem to affect the click pressure required.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about snagging a copy of iWork 2009 because, well, I don't like Office 2008 even though I paid a marginal price for the suite as available from my medical school. I realize that Office 2011 is coming within the next seven months or so, but until then...
I haven't been able to find a thing out about iWork 2010, so I'm assuming I'd just spring for the '09 version. In experimenting with the trial, I've noticed that even a simple import of a text-only .docx is formatted differently; it seems like the line spacing is different, because in the imported .pages that Pages makes from the source .docx I made, there are two additional lines of text on the first page. Why is this?
My big thing is that all created works must be easily taken to a different platform; I like OS X, but I have no allegiance to it or to Apple, and if a solid competitor to the 15" MBP comes along, I would seriously consider switching back to Windows 7. I rarely need to share .doc/.docx (or any other Office suite) files with others for their own editing, so PDF exports would suffice most of the time.
I know that .pages files are essentially archives containing XML data and a .pdf of the document, but I'd hate to have to hand-convert a bunch of XMLs if I did switch back. And sadly, Pages doesn't natively save to a .doc/.docx -- it only exports (though I did read about a hack to change that some time ago). Formatting mismatches for something as minor as line spacing are just concerning.
Corresponding shortcut for Pause, Break, SysRq and Scroll Lock on E540 model because they are not displayed on the keyboard, just like every other lenovo laptop...

Which office suite is the best, or if you selected "other", please say what office suite you are referring to.
I have ordered a Macbook Pro, but am totally stumped as to what I should do for an Office suite. If it helps, I can use Office 2007 like a pro and I love it!
I've had my MBP for about 4 month now and have been having problems with its keyboard since I bought it. First, the "Z" key sank in (I think there was a problem with the spring). I took it to the Apple Store, and they "fixed" on the spot (it's much harder to press and only registered a key press 70% of the time). The lower right corner of the "E" has noticeably sunk in, and I need to resort to pressing the upper left corner. Also, the left side of the keyboard feels "mushy", not hugely so, but definitely noticeable after typing a few sentences. Can I request that Apple just replace the entire keyboard instead of just individual keys?

Not only does it not show up in the explorer but it also wont recognize it as a program when typed in manually.

This suggests that the Latitude numbers are what everyone assumed they would be. The M6500 has arrived but, so far, Google isn't unearthing anything about the E4310, E6410 and E6510.
I'm having trouble sourcing the screen assembly (the bezel or surround rather than the screen itself) for a Sony TZ series. Is there a site that can show me part numbers on a diagram..
I can't look at the machine in question until next week to find out the part numbers directly..

I've had a flickering screen problem with my NX7010 for a while now and previously asked about it here:

Since then I've changed both the LCD cable and the inverter but flickering problem has not gone away. I'm now assuming it's the backlight but as I've heard the backlight is very difficult to change, I'm hoping to pick up a cheap screen somewhere.

How do I know if my computer is WUXGA, WSXGA+ or WXGA? Are these interchangeable?
Also, I've looked on eBay and have seen LCDs with part number 337008-001 listed but they don't mention compatibility with the NX7010. They do say they are compatible though with the X1000. Since it's the same part number can I assume that the X1000 and NX7010 use the same screen?
Lastly, I've also seen screens listed on eBay with the part number SAMSUNG (LTN154X1 - L02) and again, it says compatible with 337008-001. Is this LT part number now also an option for me?

If you want it to point to other programs, simply
1. copy and paste onto notepad
2. Change "wmplayer.exe" to something else the reason I don't use the full path is because wmplayer is in C:Windows and the shortcut can automatically find anything in C:Windows.
3. If the program is in Program Files you have to use the full path eg."C:Program FilesXXXXXX.exe"
4. Change the Label and description (although it doesn't work as in display the word Windows Media Player when you click it)
5. Save as backup.reg
6. Double Click then Confirm and you are done.
7.There are other keys however I don't recommend modifying them as they are pretty useful like battery saver mode and Wireless Shortcut.
8.To Locate other shortcut keys find the executable path and trace it to the specific keys.
9.LManager (LaunchManager) always hold the key data.
I received two of the incorrect travellite modules from Dell so far and the third one seems a bit sketchy as it rattles around in the bay as if isn't quite tall enough. The part numbers don't match up with what I see on the accessories site either. The latest one I received (on the left) looks like the one for the E6400 and carries a sticker with 0M011C-38561-87M-05FT-A00 on it. The ones on the right which didn't fit had 0H022G-69400-88U-01C0-A00 on the sticker. Can anyone confirm if the one on the left is in fact the proper one for the E6500?
View 9 Replies View RelatedOn my Dell XPS 14z laptop, on certain websites when I go to type it comes out numbers going in numerical order. So if I type out 'Hello there' it would be 01234 56789 and the numbers would restart again from zero. This only happens on some websites such as Tinychat. On others like Facebook it's fine and types normally. I've already tried restarting my computer, and I don't see a num lock key.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving an issue with the normal numbers not working. This has nothing to do with them being dirty or needing to be replaced, nor is the number lock on. None of the numbers work except 5 and 6.
If i'm in firefox typing in the google search bar when i press 1 for example the keyboard will beep, firefox will go into full screen mode and the text box will start to auto-fill with 1111111111. it does this no matter what number is pressed; except 5 and 6.
Same goes if i'm in word, except it will bring up the save as box and start auto-filling in the fill name with 111111
The only way i can type 1 at present is to use the on-screen keyboard.
I've done the fn nmlk, capslk nmlk, combos and it's not bringing it back. I've rebooted and it's still the same.

First is while I'm docked in at work I use a normal key board and it has a right click botton on it. When I go home I do not have that button and know for previous models there is a short cut that you can do to "right click" rather than going to the track pad and right clicking.
Second is for the F1, F2, F3, etc... to work I have to hold down the Fn button. Is there a way to turn around the keys to where when I hold down the Fn key and press F1 it actually mutes the sound. I guess im trying to say is there a way to switch the primary function of the F row?
The SSD in my laptop (HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition) recently died, so I got a new 120GB SSD and installed a non-OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (this is because my SSD apparently isn't large enough for the Recovery Disks HP sent me -- long story). The past few days I've been installing all the necessary drivers, and just about everything is working like it did weeks ago. However, there is one problem: my TouchPad can no longer be turned off by double-tapping in the top-left corner.
I've tried three different Synaptics TouchPad drivers. The one found on HP's website (v. 15.3.11.0), the one I get when I click "update driver software" in Device Manager (v. 15.3.29.0), and the one found on Synaptics' own website (v. 17.0.19). I've checked out "TouchPad Properties" for all of them, and they've not been of any support.
For my current driver, however, when I click on "settings" under "Tapping," there's an area called "TouchPad Disable Zone Settings," that has a checkbox that says: "Double Tap to Enable or Disable TouchPad". However, the entire area is grayed out, and I can't check or uncheck the box (though, for what it's worth, it is currently checked). I candisable it manually in the "TouchPad Settings" tab of "Mouse Properties," but I'd prefer to just get the shortcut functionality back.

I got it a couple days ago and it definitely takes some getting used to. But that phase is over now and I love this keyboard. The build quality is amazing and typing feels just like my MBP keyboard.
I am currently working on a ThinkPad Edge 15 0302-2BU for a client of mine. The system is able to POST and I can enter the BIOS but the UUID is all zeros and the Machine Type Model, System-unit serial number, and System board serial number are all blank.
I went to the support page for this model and downloaded the ISO file with bootable BIOS update utility for BIOS ver. 2.20 (82ET80WW) I updated the BIOS in case there were any issues with the current BIOS release. Rebooted then went to update the model number off the bootable utility. I entered the model number, Updated, and Rebooted again. Still having the same issue. The model number didn’t record after I punched it in.
I am still able to POST and get into the BIOS configuration. The system will not load an OS or boot off a CD into something like Windows PE.
I'm not sure if Windows not being able to load is due to the BIOS or not but I'm inclined to think so since I have trouble booting off CD.
