On my Dell XPS 14z laptop, on certain websites when I go to type it comes out numbers going in numerical order. So if I type out 'Hello there' it would be 01234 56789 and the numbers would restart again from zero. This only happens on some websites such as Tinychat. On others like Facebook it's fine and types normally. I've already tried restarting my computer, and I don't see a num lock key.

Also, is there a way to turn off the keyboard back light by default?
I was just wondering if there was a numerical keypad that could be slotted into the utrabay port for the t400? I find the numerical keyboard in place of the letters very difficult to use and I'd imagine that using a numpad plugged in via USB would be quite annoying if I was on public transport.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was very excited to order a dell vostro 1520 online, and i got a great deal on it. i ordered the laptop on the 14th of this month, and according to the email they sent me, it was supposed to be delivered by the 30th... which is pretty late but since i was getting a pretty good deal IMO, i thought "whatever, as long as its here before may 4th".
however, earlier today i got a call from dell telling me that they wont be able to build the laptop since they dont make them anymore.... ??? couldnt they have told me this EARLIER like say, LAST WEEK?
the dell vostro 1520 is STILL listed on their website (dell.com and click on small business) along with many other laptops. i dont know what to do at this point. obviously i will have to order another laptop, and it will come VERY late according to my schedules and time constraints... but which dell laptop can i order and which shouldnt i even bother with since they dont build it anymore and apparently are too lazy to update the website?
Okay so my laptop keeps pasting rows of q's when I ever I go to type. You can also here a windows noise at the same time it is doing this. A couple months ago my laptop also had another problem. Where it would my the cursor by itself as I was typing. For example when if I was typing the word "about" the cursor would move and the word would be like "outab" like that moving the letters. View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Recovery E: Folder is full -- 31.9MB free of 14.6GB - Windows Vista. I keep getting pop ups/messages saying that my E: folder is almost full, and occasionally that I should close my internet browser so I don't lose information.Â
Some of them discussions said to go into the E: folder and delete files which should be there (can't access it the folder -- there's only a warning message) or to change the Drive Letter (get a message that says it cannot remove "the letter drive of your volume", and now I'm not sure what I should do next.
Latitude D505 keyboard causing beeps on boot.Beeps do not correspond to any of the beep codes (they are approximately 8 beeps long).Letter g is continuously activated (tested using word and letter is continuously displayed on page and never stops)

This suggests that the Latitude numbers are what everyone assumed they would be. The M6500 has arrived but, so far, Google isn't unearthing anything about the E4310, E6410 and E6510.
Do outlet items have tracking numbers when they are shipped? It's been 3 days and it still says data unavailable. On the other hand, the S2009W I ordered with the XPS sale event had a tracking number the moment it shipped.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI received two of the incorrect travellite modules from Dell so far and the third one seems a bit sketchy as it rattles around in the bay as if isn't quite tall enough. The part numbers don't match up with what I see on the accessories site either. The latest one I received (on the left) looks like the one for the E6400 and carries a sticker with 0M011C-38561-87M-05FT-A00 on it. The ones on the right which didn't fit had 0H022G-69400-88U-01C0-A00 on the sticker. Can anyone confirm if the one on the left is in fact the proper one for the E6500?

Since then I've changed both the LCD cable and the inverter but flickering problem has not gone away. I'm now assuming it's the backlight but as I've heard the backlight is very difficult to change, I'm hoping to pick up a cheap screen somewhere.

How do I know if my computer is WUXGA, WSXGA+ or WXGA? Are these interchangeable?
Also, I've looked on eBay and have seen LCDs with part number 337008-001 listed but they don't mention compatibility with the NX7010. They do say they are compatible though with the X1000. Since it's the same part number can I assume that the X1000 and NX7010 use the same screen?
Lastly, I've also seen screens listed on eBay with the part number SAMSUNG (LTN154X1 - L02) and again, it says compatible with 337008-001. Is this LT part number now also an option for me?
I am doing a lot of work with excel spreadsheets and I was wondering if there was a keyboard shortcut in Numbers that is similar to Ctrl-Shift-down in excel. Basically a keyboard shortcut to select a full column of cell entries that have a value in it. I can't for the life of me find it.

If i'm in firefox typing in the google search bar when i press 1 for example the keyboard will beep, firefox will go into full screen mode and the text box will start to auto-fill with 1111111111. it does this no matter what number is pressed; except 5 and 6.

Same goes if i'm in word, except it will bring up the save as box and start auto-filling in the fill name with 111111

I'm running on Win 7 pro
I am currently working on a ThinkPad Edge 15 0302-2BU for a client of mine. The system is able to POST and I can enter the BIOS but the UUID is all zeros and the Machine Type Model, System-unit serial number, and System board serial number are all blank.

I went to the support page for this model and downloaded the ISO file with bootable BIOS update utility for BIOS ver. 2.20 (82ET80WW) I updated the BIOS in case there were any issues with the current BIOS release. Rebooted then went to update the model number off the bootable utility. I entered the model number, Updated, and Rebooted again. Still having the same issue. The model number didn’t record after I punched it in.

I am still able to POST and get into the BIOS configuration. The system will not load an OS or boot off a CD into something like Windows PE.
I'm not sure if Windows not being able to load is due to the BIOS or not but I'm inclined to think so since I have trouble booting off CD.
The Sony website is awful and google was little help.
Can anyone shed some light on what these model numbers mean?

I am thinking about ordering a new one with the P8700 processor instead of the T9550. How much reduction in heat output could I expect from the P8700 and what type of performance decrease am I looking at? I read the thread below regarding the difference in the two processors but I'm more curious about the real world difference.
Also, should I opt for the 1GB of video RAM or the 512 MB version (and will the 1GB increase heat output)? I opted for the SSD option for heat reduction as well.
So I plan to take advantage of Dell deals and order a 15. I've got it configured with the 1GB ATI card.
What I can't decide is between better screen, or better processor. I have to come in under $1,000 shipped, and can't have both.
